Also, if you have any requests throughout the day, there is always someone around to help you out. Visit us on social media or our website for more information! Look forward to hearing from you. The NeighborhoodAs well as being right in the city centre, we are at the base of Castle Hill. Within minutes, you can experience the natural wonders of Townsville. Castle Hill is the main place for the locals to walk, with sweeping views of the city, bike paths and the famously challenging 'goat track' (for those who love a short hike). We are also only 1.5km from The Strand and the newly renovated Jezzine Barracks - walk to the beach and see the beautiful $40 million ($AUD) memorial renovation, enjoy a gelato, see the beautiful parks, go have a barbeque with your friends, do what you like! It's all at our doorstep. Getting AroundWe are just in the heart of the city, a three minute walk from bus stops and shops, and 300 metres to Flinders Street Mall. It is very easy to get around, since everything is so close. We can give you directions for the local area, including places to eat, to party, to go to the movies, and of course, to the main tourist attractions in town. PARKING Off-street car parking is included with your room. If you ask, we may be able to put you in a room that has a car park in the front of it. AIRPORT We are 6km from the airport, so about a 10-minute drive. We would recommend getting a cab from the airport to City Oasis. Also, there is a shuttle bus service from the airport straight to our door, run at the airport, just near the exit. Other Things to NoteCall us or email us (see our website, just search us on your search engine) for more information!

The SpaceUnique and classic piece of North Queensland Tropical Architecture in CBD heritage precinct. The entire house flows with natural light and open ventilation for our humid, tropical summers. The encompassing views change from sunrise to blue sky days to evening hues and night city lights which is mesmerising to the soul and makes you feel totally @ peace. Guest AccessMy home becomes your home when you are staying with me. You will have access to everything you need to feel comfortable and relaxed. Interaction with GuestsThere's plenty of private space and tranquility here. At the same time, there's always quality time to be had over a good coffee, glass of wine or a meal around my balcony dining table when I am not busy or out and about. The NeighborhoodIt's completely urbane. You are right in the hub of the CBD. Walk 5 mins downtown to visit to the Tourist Information Centre, Plant Essentials (our very own local gathering of nutritionist, herbalist, aromatherapist, masseuse, beauty therapist; with all the 'feel good' stuff you will ever need) or just a mid morning latte. Sleep in as long as you like or get up early and walk The Strand at sunrise, tackle the goat track up Castle Hill or walk the breakwater near the port on dusk and watch a ship come in off the reef. Some guests just come to my house to relax and do absolutely nothing; sleeping, eating, glasses of wine/champagne, coffee, chatting, reading my books, hanging in my hammock; which is more than fine with me. Feel free to come and relax and nourish your soul, if that's what you need :-) On Sunday morning it's a casual stroll to Cotter's Markets for bacon and eggs, farm fresh veggies, local wild, organic, honey, freshly baked carrot cake/french chocolate croissants (to bring home as special Sunday treats for brunch/afternoon tea) after a visit to the North Queensland renowned 'Mary Who Bookstore'. Getting AroundLocal bus stop is 10 mins walk downtown (sunbus, qconnect) . Taxi (ph 131 008), bike and walking tracks (take my mountain bike). Avis Flinders Street car hire, Greyhound Bus (stops at ferry terminal) are both 10 mins walk. Hertz car hire is on way from airport to my place. If you are picking up your hire car the next day after check in, it is ~$25 taxi fare from CBD back to Hertz office. Airport ~15 mins/~$20 taxi fare. Townsville Airport Shuttle goes past here ($10-$15). Tell Lisa that you are going to Jen's airbnb on Melton Terrace. Train station (QRail; Sunlander) ~10 mins/$10 taxi fare (could walk with light luggage ie. backpack). Other Things to NoteThe room accommodates a couple or a single. There is a large, day bed in the lounge if you are travelling as 2 x singles. Expect generous hospitality. I like nice, extra and special things like freshly ground morning coffee, herb teas after dinner, glasses of wine at sundown. Most of the food in my house is unprocessed and healthy. There are occasional gourmet treats of complete decadence! Laundry, cleaning and personal care products are free from toxic chemicals. BYO hot spot/mobile data or utilise one of the range of $2 SIMs available at my place (Amaysim, Optus, Boost, Lebara) to load up as much data as your need whilst travelling in Australia. Melton Terrace is a one way street. Entrance is via Denham Street end only. This is the hub of the CBD right near a strip of restaurants, bars and clubs. Things can get noisy for light sleepers when the night life of Townsville is in full swing. Noise levels are currently being monitored by the state governing authorities.

Some times we will both be working and very busy, other times we will have more time for socialising. Some guests like to gather for an evening wine and chat about their day, and other guests prefer to smile and wave as they go about their own adventure. It's all good with us! The NeighborhoodRailway Estate is a quiet old fashioned suburb with many beautiful heritage homes. It is a residential suburb and the closest cafes and restaurants are in the CBD (2.3 km or approx 20 mins walk) or 8 minutes drive. The closest shopping centre (groceries, chemist, bottleshop, bakery) is 1.5 kms away from our home. Getting Around* If we are able, we always prefer to pick our guests up from the airport or bus terminal to welcome them to Townsville. * Bus stops are very close to our home (on Charters Towers Road and Queens Road), but don't expect the same frequency and convenience as a large city. * We have good quality push bikes which many guests enjoy the use of. * 6.5 km from the Townsville Airport - 15 minutes by car or approximately $25 taxi fare. * The V8 track and Townsville Civic Theatre are 5 mins walk from our home. * 2.3 km from the city (Flinders Street) and local restaurant strip (Palmer Street) - a 20 - 30 minute walk, an 18 minute bus trip, a 10 minute bike ride or approx $15 cab fare. In Winter it is a very pleasant walk, but can be hard in the summer if you are not used to the heat and humidity. * 3 km to ReefHQ - 7 minutes by car. * 3.5 km to the Breakwater Terminal and Bus depot - an 8 minute drive, approx $20 cab ride, a 15 minute bike ride or a 30 minute bus trip. * 3.6 km to the middle of the Strand on Gregory Street - 8 minutes by car, 15 minutes by bike, 45 minutes walking. * 10 km to James Cook University - 15 minute drive, 45 minutes by bus or a 30 minute bike ride along the Ross River Bike Path. Other Things to NoteSmoking is OK as long as it is outside in the yard. We are open to requests about bringing your own pet - depending on their match with our pets.

The SpaceIt is a top location. 5 min walk to city, beach, morning coffee area, swimming pool, nightclubs, shops. Kitchen, living room with 280 degree view of magnetic island and shipping channel, dining room, balcony with breakfast table down to lawn in front, bedroom, bathroom, washing machine. Guest AccessEverything. Use the condiments, shampoo, dish washing detergent, washing machine, dvd, cd / ipod. Interaction with GuestsThey won't need to even meet me. But happy to help in anyway. People need privacy. The Neighborhoodview is so good - it's often hard to leave the apartment and have a look around. ocean and magnetic always looks so soothing. But frankly North Ward and the city are the nicest "villages" in Townsville - unless you like the sprawling suburbs and big enclosed shopping centres. Good coffee, boutique stores literally 5 min. walk - restaurants, coolest ocean bars - trendy, take-away indian and sushi, dare i say 24 hr mcdonalds - shouldn't be promoting that, good supermarket just at the bottom of the hill, newsagents, chemist, bakery x 2, oh and 3 pubs ! Getting Around5 min. walk to town and shops, nightclub street, sunday morning coffee, beach and to bottom of goat track to walk castle hill. it's a walking location. Other Things to NoteIT is a queen bed.

The SpaceThe sleep-out is a very casual, bright, fun, open space at the back of the house, near the bathroom and laundry. Rather than walls and doors, a tropical style, room divider allows natural light and breeze to flow from the backyard, in and through this area and the entire house. See photos of Floor Plan for layout of the house, the room and the divider. If you are fussy about privacy, please do not book this room. It is for open-minded, creative and free-spirited people to enjoy. The house is an Old Queenslander (miner's cottage) relocated from Charters Towers in the late 1800s after the Gold Rush. Built for the tropics, it has high ceilings, timber floors, natural light and open ventilation. Escape the morning sun on the front verandah, then head to the back outdoor living area in the afternoon for a shady spot with a cool breeze. Embracing a “Troppo Shack" feel, it's laid back and casual with a positive, fun vibe. The décor echoes raw authenticity with an eclectic mix of Jen's earthy treasures wrapped in a daring splash of colour and creativity. Shared living spaces are organised and functional. There's plenty of storage in the kitchen with everything you need to prepare a meal. The bathroom is clean and de-cluttered with a storage basket for each guest. Towels stay hygenic and dry in your private room. To ensure a peaceful, non-intrusive atmosphere, earphones are utilised with electronic devices for television, movies and listening to music. It's not a busy or noisy house. It's back to basics with un-stuffocation and simplicity where your soul can breathe and you can hear yourself think. Guest AccessPark in the back yard. Collect your key. Get yourself sorted and settled in. Come and go as you please. Interaction with GuestsJen is an experienced host with 100+ airbnb guests during the past 2 years.
