The SpaceRelax at this peaceful oceanfront bed and breakfast on the shores of Newbury Neck. Enjoy unprecedented privacy on 20 acres of woods and blueberry field. Awake each morning to the gentle sounds of the waves lapping at the shore. Relax in the gazebo with a good book or simply enjoy the sights and sounds of nature all around you. The 1000 feet of ocean frontage allows for tranquility not often found this close to Acadia , only 45 minutes away. Guest AccessGuests can enjoy the living room, sunroom, dining room, reading area, main deck, gazebo, and over 20 acres of field, woods and shore frontage. Interaction with GuestsDonna and I are very involved with the guests. We are happy to assist with whatever is needed. The NeighborhoodWave Walker is located near the end of Newbury Neck, which is "off the beaten path" just a bit, but with the location come some wonderful benefits you won’t get at a typical B & B location. Wave Walker offers an experience that is about nature, peacefulness and beauty. Yes, we are away from the din of Bar Harbor. You won’t see any city lights or street lights here. You won’t have a view of the parking lot and building just feet from your window. You will see and hear porpoise and seals from you private balcony overlooking the ocean. You will see what Downeast Magazine called the “Best Acadia View”. You will see “The Milky way” on a clear night. You may decide to spend the day enjoying nature in one of our kayaks. You may decide to take a walk on the shore just 75 feet in front of the B&B, or on our trails which meander through over 150 acres to the shore on the western side of Newbury Neck. If the action of Bar Harbor is your preference then you can be there in 50 minutes. If shopping, restaurants, and other activities are your interest then you can be there in 25 minutes. Yes, we are not your typical location, but that is what makes Wave Walker special. Other Things to NoteListed DO NOT include 8% lodging tax. Payment of tax is required at arrival.

The Space"Bimbay" is the name of the cottage (my folks used to have a home on Bimini and this one on the Bayside Road). The property has been in the family for a century. The property is about 2 miles down Patten Bay from the mouth of the Union River, which flows through Ellsworth. A great kayak trip is putting in at Ellsworth's town dock and meandering down the river and across the bay to the camp. It's a beautiful trip and I guarantee you'll see some eagles. The house has two bedrooms and two baths, a large open living room with floor to ceiling windows looking out on the deck. TV, Wifi, a combination DVD/VCR player are located here. The couch is a futon which can fold down in case you need the sleeping space. The furniture is the mish mash a Maine camp develops---some newish stuff and some antiques--we've tried to keep the decor carefree, friendly and inviting. There is a third ultra small bedroom with a single bed off the Master Bedroom. All linens, towels, pots, pans, (including a lobster pot) dishes and silverware are provided. We welcome pets. We've found pet owners leave the place nicer than they found it. Guest AccessThe cottage has 600ft of shore frontage that curves around and forms one-side of a cove. The house has beach access on two easy paths. The beach, as most on the Northern Maine coast is rocky. The neighbors have a slightly less rocky on the apex of the cove itself--it's seldom used and our guests have welcome permission to enjoy it at anytime. Interaction with GuestsGuests are greeted upon arrival, given a tour and the lay of the land. I am available anytime to answer questions, come change a light bulb, or suggest the best place to buy lobsters. Guest are asked to cell me approximately an hour before they arrive so I can be there for the meet and greet. The NeighborhoodYou're on the ocean in a beautiful location. There is one other cottage on the same access road, so things are very quiet and serene. You are also within 8 minutes of major shopping and restaurants in Ellsworth, and Twenty minutes from downtown Bar Harbor. Great lobster is about six minutes away toward Acadia. Getting AroundAcadia National Park is about 12 miles away. We have maps available at the camp and can direct you to the quickest access for Park Headquarters, Mtn. Hikes, kayak and whale watch tours, lakes and ponds for swimming, and the tastiest places to eat. Ellsworth, about 4 1/2 miles to major supermarkets, is the closest place to shop for essentials. Other Things to NoteOur cottage is old and rustic, warm and cozy. Please note there is no air conditioning, which is common for Maine cottages. Maine experiences about 5-7 "dog days" of extra hot weather (above 90) each summer but the ocean breeze normally tones the temp a bit. We do provide fans in both bedrooms and the living room. We want our guests to be as comfortable as possible but there little we can to to change the weather.

The SpaceBeautiful restored farm on 10 acres with private ocean access. Unparalled views of Acadia Mountains. Private, quiet street but just a 15 minute drive to hiking and biking in Acadia and restaurants and shopping in Bar Harbor. Upstairs has 2 bedrooms with ocean views and one bath. Downstairs has 3 bedrooms and one and a half baths. There is also an outdoor shower for summer use. Living room, dining room and family room have ocean views. 2 bikes and 5 kayaks are available for use. Kayak right in front of our house and enjoy the seals feeding and Bald Eagles flying overhead. Enjoy lobster dinners and late night fires in our fireplace. Very large selection of books in our library. A great base from which to explore coastal Maine or just to relax. Guest AccessAs our guests, you have access to the entire house, kayaks, bikes, outdoor games, indoor ping pong in garage. depending on the season, we have dozens and dozens of blueberry and raspberry bushes for your picking pleasure. I also have strawberries in early summer and kale and herbs for most of the summer. Getting AroundThere is a small bus about a block away that goes back and forth to Acadia National Park. Other Things to NoteThere is a very wide, private grass path leading to the ocean. It is a gentle slope about 700 feet. At the end of this path, steps have been dug into the hill for the walk down to water. This may not be suitable for the very elderly or those unable to complete a very mild hike.

Built in 2001, the cottage is designed for enjoying our spectacular summers and falls in a quiet location--75 feet from the ocean at high tide. There are no roads or ledges to traverse when walking down to our colorful private beach. We are 15 minutes from Acadia National Park, and only ten minutes from Bar Harbor Airport and 35 from Bangor International Airport. WE HAVE TIME WARNER HIGH SPEED INTERNET AND CABLE TV. We now have 2.5 bath rooms. 3 BDRMs down stairs. 2 have queens and one has two singles. The BDR upstairs has a queen and the half bath and is next to a cozy library. Near Bar Harbor and Acadia the cottage faces the sunset and Blue Hill Mountain across the inter-coastal ocean area of Union River Bay and Blue Hill Bay. A small set of wooden stairs steps down to a typical Maine tidal zone. At low tide rocks draped in thick tangle of yellow-green and brown-purple seaweeds surround our pebble beach. These are called Rockweed and are an important part of our coastal ecosystem. The shore also has mussels and nooks for beach combing and exploring. Private winterized cottage. Quiet--four hundre feet from the road. A year-round brook empties into the Bay on the south side of the property and encourages birds and other wildlife to visit water's edge. A large deck and the balcony off the second-story bedroom are great places to picnic or for sitting still and enjoying songbirds, ducks, loons, gulls, eagles, on occasion some wild turkeys, squirrels, even seals, and osprey, depending on the time of year.
