The SpaceHarbour Couture was once the community store - that shop feeling has been preserved with the high ceiling, the open space and the original shelving along one wall. We offer a combo of comfort and rustic. The cozy lower floor has full bath, queen bedroom, a great kitchen dining area and a sofa bed. The upstairs space is a beautifully furnished living area with a second bedroom and half bath. Six large windows face the south side of the small harbour. Guest AccessYou will have access to the entire two floors of building and the beach boat launch area. There is almost unlimited access to the land here. It is one of the province's best features. Crown owned land allows for easy exploration in and around communities. Interaction with GuestsWe want to make your visit memorable - we offer an orientation to the local area and a daily local fish or vegetarian meal (for a nominal fee). There may be access to small water craft. The NeighborhoodSettled in the 1800's by fishermen from the Southwest of England, Southport now has about forty full time residents. But it is a still very active fishing community. Many species of fish are landed here during the summer months: Crab, Capelin, Cod, Herring, Lobster and Mackeral. It is a safe harbour at the end of the road sitting amidst dramatic cliffs and ocean vistas. It is a very welcoming and friendly place to relax, explore and share stories with local residents. Hike the trails, explore the beaches, and swim in the ponds. Visit nearby communities or take day trips to world class hiking trails, good restaurants, and shopping on the Bonavista and Burin Peninsulas. Getting AroundYou will need a car, but getting here is quite simple. Travel 170 km west from St. John's airport, turn right at highway 204 (Hodge's Cove, Little Heart's Ease). Travel 29 km. to end of road and see Harbour Couture. Other Things to NoteMany places in Newfoundland are isolated from larger centres - so are we. Come prepared for this and you will have a "real" experience. Talk to us and we'll help you plan a full and rounded trip! We provide food basics (tea, coffee, sugar, flour, cooking oil) be sure to bring with you any speciality foods and shop for extras at Karen's Convenience in nearby Gooseberry Cove.
