The SpaceIt's just a simple guest room in our farmhouse, but if you like animals and the outdoors, we suspect you'll like it here. The room is best suited for two, but there's also a pull out couch so you could sleep up to four. Guest AccessGuests have their own room (two actually, as the room has an adjacent den-like space with a pull-out couch), bathroom is around the corner, and use of the entire downstairs. The NeighborhoodTrout Lake is a rural community of about 700 people. Getting AroundNo public transit in this neck of the woods...but if you're hiking the PCT you could walk here! Other Things to NoteAbsolutely no smoking in the house or on our property.

The SpaceOur organic family farm is nestled in the heart of Trout Lake Valley. Bordered by the White Salmon River, Trout Creek, and expansive fields, our homestead is a place to breath deeply and gaze at Mt. Adams. The 1918 Craftsman farmhouse feels nearly untouched by time. Enjoy the spacious kitchen, formal dining room, extensive library, four bedrooms, and two baths. The grounds consist of large lawns, a little barn for outdoor dining and dancing, horse shoe pits, an 18 hole disk golf course, and fire pit (when use is permitted by the forest service.) Other Things to NoteBecause this isn't a typical rental, emptied of antiques and originality, a background check will be done on potential guests.

The SpaceAbove garage. Perfect place to rest after a day spent hiking, skiing, kayaking or cycling the valley or forest. Two twin beds with cozy down comforters and cast iron tub. Walk to town. Farm noises to be expected...We have everything from free range kids to chickens, horses, goats and dogs. Guest AccessThe loft is completely yours during your stay. There is a bathroom, cast iron tub with hand held shower. Organic cotton towels and clean white sheets with down comforters are provided. There is no kitchen, however we do provide a small selection of teas and coffee along with an electric kettle for you to use. Say hello to the animals but please stay outside all fenced areas. Interaction with GuestsWe live in the adjacent farmhouse and we will be home (it's hard to leave the farm!), however we respect your privacy. The NeighborhoodSweet little country town next door to the wilderness. Other Things to NoteThe ship ladder to the loft is quite steep and not suitable for any one with mobility or balance issues -- please use handrails. Another thing to note is that the hot water tank is small (20 gallons...not enough to fill the cast iron tub) -- we recommend taking a seated shower, European style, turning water on and off as needed, and keeping the tub plugged. We have a small child's mattress available for a pint-sized third guest.

Getting AroundWe are about 4 miles from the town of Trout Lake. If you're coming from the Portland area, you can rent a car and be here in about 1 1/2 hours. There might also be shuttles at the airport that could bring you here. There is no public transportation in our area that would get you to White Salmon or Hood River, the two nearest towns, but there are taxi's that will drive up this way. Other Things to NoteCheck-in is usually after 3pm, and checkout is by 11am. If you need to make other arrangements, just let us know. We're happy to work around your schedule, most of the time. Feel free to bring along a bike during all but winter season. There are miles of roads to bike and see the beautiful countryside!

Feel as if you have a farm in the family! Our homestead offers both comfort and seclusion. It is bordered by acres of forested river shores and expansive fields. The 1918 Craftsman farmhouse feels nearly untouched by time. Enjoy the spacious kitchen, formal dining room, extensive library, four bedrooms, and two baths. There is also an off-grid tiny house tucked in the woods for two. The grounds consist of large lawns, a little barn for outdoor dining and dancing, horse shoe pits, an 18 hole disk golf course, and fire pit (when use is permitted by the forest service.) An abundance of experiences can fill your days, depending on the season and your willingness to leave the lovely farm! Extraordinary wilderness areas of forests, rivers, waterfalls, and caves surround 12,276’ Mount Adams. Whether it is by raft or cross-country skis, there is seemingly endless exploration. The many natural expanses to discover include the Mt. Adams Wilderness Area, Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Klickitat River Canyon, and Conboy National Wildlife Refuge. Excellent restaurants, cute boutiques, galleries, and, of course, windsurfing and kiteboarding are only 26 miles away in Hood River. Further East, Maryhill Museum and many wineries can be enjoyed. This homestead is more than a house with a nice view, it is a vital space for taking a deep breath and catching up with one another. Our hope is that it is also your gateway to connecting with nature, agriculture, and, most importantly, one another. * The farmhouse is buffered by gardens and lawns but our 54 acres is multi-use. This is a family farm and with that authenticity comes equipment and staff. The disc golf course is shared with respectful community members. It is over a hundred feet away from the farmhouse and may be closed upon request.

The SpacePrivate, quiet and deeply relaxing. This house was built with wheelchair access in mind so it has a very open floor plan. It was built by a pioneer family from White Salmon and is very lovingly hand crafted. We enjoy this place as a retreat for our family - a quiet place to spend time together or to bring a project for a block of uninterrupted focus. It's also a great place to host friends and family who appreciate slowing down and unplugging. Guest AccessThe main house is completely available. There is an unoccupied log cabin next door, and a barn, which are not included. A creek and trails running through State land are 300 feet from the house. We have neighbors on two sides and State land on two sides. Interaction with GuestsSomeone will be there to check you in and will be available on call as needed. We are available to answer questions, to ensure visitors understand the house rules for fire safety and smooth running of the water and septic systems. Your privacy is important to us, and we want you to have a good time! Once we check you in, you won't see us again unless you need us. The NeighborhoodConboy National wildlife refuge is a great place to visit - 15 to 20 minutes to the East. Check out the Klickitat Gorge, Ice caves on Mt Adams and other amazing hikes and sights just up the road. Sleeping Beauty is a stunning hike that is steep, but worth it for the views. The forest service office is right in Trout Lake, with free maps and advice. We have maps at the house to borrow. Getting AroundTrout Lake is 8 minutes to the North on 141, and White Salmon is about 20 minutes to the South. Hood River is about 25 to 30 minutes away, across the Hood River bridge on the Columbia River. Other Things to NoteIt can be snowy on the roads through March, but the roads and driveway are frequently plowed and the gravel road to the house is flat.
