The SpaceTroy's diversity and friendliness makes friends out of strangers is a relatively short time. The city is walkable and the area is rich with outdoor activities only minutes, or an hour away. On the Hudson River and surrounded by lakes and mountains the region is full of natural beauty. Our architecture is stunning and we have more Tiffany windows than you'll find anywhere else. In addition, we have a lively art scene and a passion for history and historic preservation. Our City is continually rediscovering itself. Guest AccessThe apartment is quiet, private, fully furnished and self-contained in Troy's lovely 5th Avenue Historic District. Leaded glass and stained glass windows add historic architectural detail.. The new laundry facilities are exclusive for guest use. Guests are welcome to share our grill and garden area. Private entrance. Everything is provided for a comfortable stay. Occupancy is limited to registered guests only. Off-street parking nearly always available for one car. Interaction with GuestsOne of the advantages of an extended stay is the opportunity to make new friends with those who are from far away (or not so.) In the warmer months we invite our guests to use the grill and garden area along with us. We will share information about Troy and the area to whatever degree our guests are interested. We will respect their privacy and with a private entrance it is mostly their choice how much we interact. We are on-sight most of the time. Of course, we're always happy to help our guests and to answer questions. The NeighborhoodTroy's architecture and its history attracts the most diverse and interesting people. At first we were attracted by the opportunity to own and preserve for another century one of Troy's most beautiful brownstone houses. The Italianate plaster molding is more beautiful to us than owning a Picasso or Monet. Our neighborhood has been designated as a NYS historic district that is called Historic 5th Avenue. It and the Washington Park area have led the way for neighborhood revitalilzation and restoration all around Troy. In addition, Troy has a vibrant early American history and was key to America's industrialization. Architecture and History buffs will love Troy. Getting AroundTroy is extremely walkable with restaurants, a delightful wine bar, shops, RPI and Russell Sage and everything close by. In addition, there is an excellent public transportation system that will take one around Troy and the entire Capital Region conveniently. A bus stop is a block away. Albany (ALB) International Airport and Amtrac trains are only 15 minutes away. Other Things to NoteWe invite guests who appreciate the friendly, respectful and quiet atmosphere of our historic neighborhood. The cleaning fee is reduced or refunded to guests who neatly maintain and leave their apartment clean.

The SpaceOur space is inspired by our travels in Europe. (We can't wait to go back in December!) The full-size platform bed comfortably accommodates two. Watch TV or grab a book - we keep some good reads around just for our guests, so you're welcome to take one with you if you're still reading when your stay ends. We keep recommendations for local restaurants, spare toothbrushes and anything else we could think of at arm's length to make you as comfortable as possible. We hope you feel right at home - but a little more pampered. P.S. During the summer, Rebecca's sister sometimes stays in our second guest room, which means the bathroom may be lightly shared. She will use our shower so yours is always pristine. Guest AccessIn addition to the cozy bedroom and full bath with shower, we invite you to take advantage of our kitchen if you'd like to cook a meal or even join us for dinner if our schedules align! You're always welcome to hang out with us after work, and we have board games and books in the library if you want them - although if you're really looking for entertainment, we recommend taking a short walk to the Biergarten downtown. Beer! FYI: our home is three stories. That means there are a lot of stairs! We're happy to help carry your luggage if we are home. However, if your mobility is limited, please get in touch so we can help you decide whether our space is right for you. Interaction with GuestsWe work full-time jobs so we're rarely around until the evening, and even on weekends we tend to keep busy and go out and about. But when we are home, we'd love to hear about your trip! Meeting our guests is the best part of hosting. The NeighborhoodWe live in a family neighborhood and love saying hi to the school-age kids who play ball in the street whenever they can. We also love how close our home is to downtown - great for walking to the wonderful local bars and restaurants if you feel like taking a stroll. Getting AroundThe nearest bus stop is about a 20-minute walk, so we do recommend renting a car or calling a cab. Walking to the bars and restaurants or to the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) campus is very feasible, but anything further than that will probably require some wheels. Our neighborhood has ample street parking, but if you're concerned, just let us know and we'll make room for you in the driveway.
