This secluded magical estate is located on an seven acre forest and park-like lakefront peninsula. This house is surrounded by water on three sides, which offers magnificent views from almost every window. With its steeply pitched roof, stone facade, and waterfall pond the house wouldn’t be out of place in the English countryside or Germany’s Black Forest. One reaches the lodge via a long private road through the woods. This is the perfect place to gather with a group of friends and/or a family get together -- well-behaved dogs are welcome! We can seat large groups for dinner in the dining room or Great Room. Due to the artistic touches guests have said that they felt like they were in a movie set. Inside you’ll find a cavernous wood-paneled Great Room with floor-to-ceiling windows, a huge working fireplace, a baby grand piano, a victrola, built-in library filled with books, comfy faux-fur draped couches and an enormous wrought iron chandelier. It's the perfect place to watch projected movies, play board games or read by the fire. The owner is a children's book author/illustrator and her books are available for reading out loud while looking at the dollhouse sets which illustrate them. The stately wood-paneled dining room features a gas fireplace, giant wooden tables, a built-in wine wooden wine rack and oil paintings. The dining room is adjacent to a glass and wood conservatory filled with cozy seating, trees, plants, an upright piano, another dining table, a working fountain and tree trunk columns. The kitchen is a chef's paradise. It features a Viking professional gas stove with griddle, a Sub Zero two door refrigerator, a interior barbecue grill and plenty of counter space with stools.The kitchen is well appointed with every type of plate, bowl, wine glass, cup, platter, coffee, utensil and cooking tool imaginable. A Nespresso cappuccino/latte maker and professional juicer is available upon request for those who know how to use them. The spice cabinet is filled with all types of exotic and traditional spices. Off the kitchen is a a laundry room. The Clocktower Bedroom has incredible lake views from french doors, a king-sized bed, two clock tower windows, his/her full bathrooms, a massive sunken tub, a steam sauna shower, a flat screen television and access to a private deck and a stone patio. The Blue Bedroom has a king-sized bed, a twin bed, a small flat screen television (with DVD player), a full bathroom, views and a lakeside door. The Spring Flowers Bedroom has a queen-sized bed and lake views. The bathroom with a cedar steam shower is across the hall. The Ship Captain Room (upstairs) has two twin beds, a queen bed, two twin cots, a small stairway library and lake views. Outside you’ll find a secluded lake with a private floating dock, a large stone patio with cafe lights, manicured grounds, three decks, rolling hills, a koi pond, a babbling brook, a butterfly garden, a child's playhouse, hammocks, a swing and huge pines circling the home. You can dine al fresco on the giant double length picnic table on an octagonal deck. Other activities: Boating/swimming/fishing/ice skating on the pristine lake, napping in the hammocks, playing house in the child's cottage, swinging, sunbathing on the patio and roasting marshmallows in one of the five fire pits. Pet homing doves fly free on the grounds. The owner also has a potbellied miniature pig who might be found grazing outside in her pen if the homeowner is in town during your stay. The owner has a separate apt on the property. She will greet you, give you the keys to the house, show you the lights, heat and other details. When she is away a caretaker is on call. He will plow the driveway and shovel the snow, if necessary. Firewood and a wheelbarrow is available outside for your use. This isn't a bed and breakfast. We want to give you complete privacy and autonomy. Square footage: 5,000 interior, 7.5 acres of land (Main house: Great room, dining room, sun room, commercial kitchen, 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, cedar sauna room, steam shower, laundry room, heated towel rack; Outbuildings: Boathouse, folly tower, Hansel & Gretel child’s house). Only a one hour drive to Manhattan. Well behaved dogs and potbellied pigs are considered for $100 per visit. We have a large dog run, a pig pen, and a chicken coop. Other animals are considered on a case by case basis. We love animals. The house sleeps 13 in beds: 2 king beds, 1 queen bed, 1 full bed, 3 twin beds, 2 cot beds. Our rates are for 6 people in Fall/Winter/Spring and 13 guests on holidays for reunion and family get togethers. $100 per person per night is added to the fee for each additional person. A $100 flat fee is added to the quote for each dog. We do allow camping and air mattresses as long as the extra per person fees are paid. We provide dishwashing soap, dishwasher soap and two rolls of paper towels -Washer, dryer and ironing board in a laundry room. -We provide shampoo, soap, toilet paper, blow dryer, lotion and other necessities in every bathroom. -A fully stocked linen closet with bath towels, additional blankets, hand towels, and wash cloths. *WINTER NOTE: The dock is unhooked from the shore around Thanksgiving (depending upon the first freeze.) The dock is attached again in the early Spring. You can still use the boats from the shore -- but take care during winter months. The hammocks are taken in during winter months. We are only offering the house for rent from Nov 1 - April 1 in 2016-2017. Spring and summer dates are not available this year. The house is sublime and extremely comfortable during the fall and winter seasons. WEDDING NOTE: Please note, we do not allow weddings at the lakefront lodge.
