Sharing: you will share my large two-bedroom cottage with me, a middle-aged single teacher
My home: a charming 105-year-old stone cottage along a very quiet street about a 10-minute walk from the river and main street
Mannum: with its delightful cafes, pubs and galleries, this town of 2200 is birthplace of the River Murray's paddle-steamer industry. But the town is more popular these days for recreational activities (such as fishing and boating), as well as paddle-steamer cruises and houseboat rentals. Less than 100kms from Adelaide, Mannum is an ideal base for easy daytrips to the Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley and, of course, the Riverland. My YouTube channel 'Mannum in a Minute' has 80 clips about local attractions, pubs, cafés etc. Guest AccessYour room is large, bright and beautifully furnished, with a queen-sized bed, antique cupboards, writing desk, remote-controlled TV/DVD player, and overhead fan, overlooking the rose garden. An extra king-sized quilt, heater and electric blanket are available for the chilly nights in winter.
Kitchen: guests can access the fully-equipped country-style kitchen, with a dining table
Bathroom: there's plenty of hot water in the shower and bath
Lounge room: guests are welcome to relax, with air-conditioning/heating, a wood fire, guests' library and large-screen TV with cable channels
Car parking: there's room for several cars and a caravan along the extensive and gated off-street driveway
Breakfast: a help-yourself continental breakfast of juice, cereal/porridge, tea/coffee, fruit, toast and jam is also included
Other: guests can access the washing machine and tumble dryer. And help yourself (in season) to the apples, peaches, lemons and (hot!) chillies from the extensive garden with its outdoor seating Interaction with GuestsPick-ups/drop-offs: for only $20 one-way (and subject to my availability), I can collect and/or drop-off guests at Murray Bridge, less than 30kms away and connected by regular buses to Adelaide. Free pick-up and drop-off in Mannum (subject to my availability) at the bus stop or where your houseboat or paddle-steamer departs/returns.
Tourist information: numerous leaflets and maps to help you explore the town and region are in your room. The NeighborhoodMy home: along a quiet residential street, away from noisy holiday homes along the river
Shops: a well-stocked supermarket and take-away food shop are about 300 metres away, while the main street with almost everything you need is less than 1km. Getting AroundMannum is compact, with everything you need along the main street less than 1km away from the home. There is no need for local public transport or taxis, but one bus travels each way every weekday to/from Adelaide, with connections in Murray Bridge and Mt Barker. Details on the Link SA website.
