The SpaceThe house has two very comfortable beds, a twin bed, youth bed, and a pull out couch on the first floor. Col. James Delancey's house, "Cowboy of the Bronx" in New York City built this house in late 1700's when he defected from the nation that became the U.S. Yes, he was a loyalist. Old wide pine floors, 6 non-working fireplaces, all on the Annapolis River with fruit trees growing along the banks. For neighbors, we have deer, fox, eagles, osprey. The master bath shower and huge tub are still (sigh) not completely finished, but there is a tub and shower on the first floor, a stall shower on the second floor, and an outdoor shower behind the garage (my favorite, under the stars with a kerosene lamp). All toilets and sinks are fully functional. Interaction with GuestsIt depends on whether I'm in residence in the ell. The SpaceThink back to when life was simple. Feet were bare, summer breezes blew through screens of open windows, the air was filled with the songs of birds by day and crickets by night. Return to the simplicity you remember and emerge from your summer holiday tranquil and rejuvenated. Listen to the music of the ocean or the brook across the street and sing along with it. Wander the meadow. Pick a bouquet of wildflowers. The meadow is abundant with wild rose and Queen Anne’s lace and fern. On the wild and rocky beach, make sure to hunt for beach glass. Enjoy watching for seal, porpoise, whale and eagles. At the water’s edge, explore and hunt for starfish and other treasures. Even an approaching storm is mesmerizing. Watch the bay and the horizon. Often you can see the storm approach - the water alternating hues of emerald and lamb’s ear grey. While you are here, make sure you visit the fish market down the road in Parker’s Cove for world-famous scallops or lobster (they will cook them for you). In the early 1950's our Father designed the house and our maternal Grandfather had it built in 1952. The outside is cedar shingled and the inside has pine tongue and groove walls and maple floors. In this 1 and 1/2 story home there are three large bedrooms and one bathroom. There is a cathedral ceiling in the very large living room (17'x27' / 5.23m x 8.30m) and a proper country eat-in kitchen (14'x19' / 4.31m x 5.85m). All rooms are nicely furnished with period pieces and many handmade hooked rugs. The house is comfortable and filled with old world charm. Our Canadian property stretches between the Annapolis Basin and the Bay of Fundy; shore to shore. We have 300+ acres of woodland and shoreline for your enjoyment. Wildlife on the property consists of hummingbirds, deer, rabbits, hawks, loons, woodchucks, and chipmunks just to name a few. The Thorne's Cove shore is about 60' / 18.5m from the living room door, providing a spectacular view. The house is located on a very secluded spot on the property. Peace, quiet and privacy could be yours for a week, a month or longer. It has been our honor to rent to three honeymoon couples & one wedding party which included the ceremony and reception. There are many indoor and outdoor games available. A Ping-Pong table can be set up in the 1-1/2 story, two car detached garage. There are also horseshoes, badminton, board games, puzzles, over 350 movies and over 200 books. If you wish to leave the property there is golfing, whale watching or canoeing all within a 40 minute drive. There are numerous artisan and antique shops in the nearby town; North America's oldest European settlement, Annapolis Royal (c1604). The local area abounds with over 400 years of history and should be considered as a travel destination.
