(website hidden) Reaching Udaipur at night is a fairytale with lights flickering on every side of the city's famed centrepiece, the Lake Palace Hotel ((website hidden)) I'm reunited with a dear friend, Rosie Cornwalliswho I haven't seen since the ‘80's, when we worked together at Crolla in London (she married the boss and has ancestors who were Governors of India!) and she's now based in Udaipur. We stay at her beautiful lakeside apartment which she lets through Ashton Kutcher's website (website hidden). It's totally gorgeous and great to be in our own place with its beautiful roof terrace overlooking the lake. The apartment is filled with her lovely collection of antiques and unluckily for my baggage allowance it's all for sale - I buy a fab painted mirror with a pink Hindu God on it! Dinner's next door at Jagat Niwas ((email hidden)) - we drink far too many bottles of wine over hysterical stories of how naughty we were back in the day! Next day she takes us on a tour down tiny lanes of the Old city to her secret antique haunts where I find glass beaded panels and Indian silver, all which will be appearing in my next Aboydbazaar ((website hidden)) having been redesigned to make them into something modern and contemporary. We say our goodbyes then travel on to Devi Garh ((website hidden)) , an hour outside Udaipur and the most beautiful palace I think I've ever seen. Showered with red rose petals as we walk through the massive entrance, we spend a listless and wonderfully relaxing day by the pool ,exploring the palace and generally recharging as tomorrow we leave Rajasthan and head across the border into Gujarat. Guest AccessThis room has no view or terrace. It is a studio apartment on the ground floor of the house. Please note that check in is after 12 noon to allow time for room preparation. Interaction with GuestsGuests can contact me at any time either by telephone or email. There will always be someone around to help with any problems if I am not in Udaipur. The NeighborhoodThe Studio is very close to The City Palace, numerous restaurants and interesting antique and vintage shops. Getting AroundThere is a rickshaw stand one minutes walk from the house. Lakecity Holidays Travel Agency is on Lal Ghat and Aditya will happily make any travel arrangements for my guests whether it be flight tickets, bus, train or taxi. Other Things to NoteThe Studio has free Wifi and is equipped with a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a toaster.

The SpaceOur home-stay is nestled in Udaipur’s heart of the Old City - directly beneath the majestic Royal Palace and within the bustling streets lined with handicrafts stalls and markets. Our 250 year old heritage house (traditionally known as a 'haveli') is named after 'Kavi Rao Mohan Singh' - my Great Grandfather and the last poet of the Kingdom. We extend our invitation for our guests to relax and stay in one of our spacious bedrooms - renovated in Rajasthani period style. Each room has a double bed with freshly laundered linen, and is decorated with eclectic handicrafts, antiques and textiles. All our rooms each have a modern en-suite bathroom with western toilet and hot shower. Freshly laundered clean towels and new bed linen at your request any time during your stay. Our roof top terraces provide dynamic panoramic views of the Royal Palace, historic hill forts and the verdant Aravali Hills. We gladly also provide a unique experience of traditional Rajasthani home style food freshly prepared and cooked upon request. Our family run home stay provides guests an opportunity to become part of our family. My family is always delighted to assist and recommend activities around Udaipur - whether its heritage tours of the Old City, food tours, walks, shopping, Royal Palace tours (I am a registered tour guide), general sight seeing, horse riding or bicycling tours. Nothing is too much trouble. We also provide: internet, air conditioning, cable TV, free parking, breakfast and my father's infamous chai tea on request. Guest AccessThe Little Garden Guest House is an authentic home stay. Our family welcomes all guests and would enjoy imparting a unique Rajasthani cultural experience. Guest AccessThe guests have sole use of the breakfast courtyard outside the bedroom suite, the kitchen and the roof terrace overlooking Lake Pichola. Please note that check in is after 12 noon to allow time for room preparation. Interaction with GuestsGuests can always contact me or one of my staff by telephone or email. The NeighborhoodAntique shops, antique and vintage textiles, restaurants and fabulous friendly people. Getting AroundThere is a rickshaw stand one minute from the house on Lal Ghat. The travel agency, Lakecity Holidays, on Lal Ghat can arrange taxis for longer journeys, train, bus and 'plane tickets. Other Things to NoteAditya at Lakecity Holidays on Lal Ghat will happily make any travel arrangements for my guests whether it be for flight tickets, train, bus or a taxi for day trips.
