The SpaceLongview Ranch is a modern home set atop 187 acres of private land. Originally an industrial workshop, Longview is now a home of modern luxury juxtaposed against dramatic wilderness. As one of the private ranches on Orr Springs Road, Longview is a perfect hot springs escape, wine country stopover, family vacation, artist gathering or civilized rambling holiday. While Longview's private grounds provide endless opportunities for adventure, the ranch is just a mile from Orr Hot Springs Resort, where visitors can partake in the resort's day services. A few miles away is Montgomery Woods, a pristine redwood grove. Day trips include Mendocino Village, Anderson Valley's wine country and Hopland. FOODIES: Longview's gourmet kitchen, two 10 person tables (one indoor, one outdoor) and setting make it well-suited for intimate gatherings around food, both in preparation and eating. An extensive collection of Heath dinnerware - Sausalito's celebrated mid-century ceramics - ensures feasting in modern style. A picnic lunch on one of the property's scenic outlooks is also highly recommended. Ukiah's Food Coop and local culture make fresh fixings easily accessible. FAMILIES: Longview is owned by a family with young children, and provides 2 portable cribs, toys and creative endeavors for children of all ages. There is a fort-like bedroom for children to pile into, and each Queen bedroom is large enough to share with children. A 1000 square feet of open studio space is great for messy projects and after dark roller derbies. A huge porch and fenced acre of yard make it easy for parents to let kids run freely. There is also a hilltop fairy ring for picnics, tea parties and tree climbs with views to boot. Longview is baby proofed for electrics, cooking, windows and staircase. Basic First Aid is provided, and Ukiah's hospital can be reached within 20 minutes. The SpaceOur yard & home is spacious not cramped or confined. Well kept, both clean and uncluttered and easy on the eyes as well as the soul. Our home is peaceful and is called, 'the house that love built' because we took it from a nasty, awful major fixer upper and have turned it into an enjoyable place we call HOME :) We take every measure to keep our home picture perfect & presentable because that's how I like it BUT we DO live in this space and we are busy people that have lives. Please keep this in mind if you find something out of place or in need of attention. If ANYthing is unworthy of a 5STAR rating on Airbnb then please, do bring to our attention during your stay and we will fix it! Our offering at present is 1 bdrm w/ Full/Dbl sz bed (pictured) which sleeps 1-2. A twin sz air mattress also available upon request. Guest AccessAt present, we are perfecting the back of our home where our office and additional bathroom is. These rooms are not available therefore sharing the bathroom pictured in profile is a must. It has not presented a problem thus far and w/ good communication & consideration, we do not expect any issues whatsoever. It is best to bring in / take out toiletries and keep in your room unless you are a long-term guest whereby we can clear specific space for your convenience. Use of the kitchen and many appliances are available to guests including ... Breville juicer, VitaMix blender AND an array of Saladmaster cookware!! A front patio with sitting area + porch swing for dining & lounging. Vegetable garden is open & available for guests at certain times of the year. Feel free to help yourself to tomatoes, zuccini, basil etc. Most days a full Bar with bartender Dan overseeing the operation of alcohol distribution is open & available. Let us know if there is a particular beverage you'd enjoy - if we don't have it, I betcha he makes sure it's here! Tips welcome! ;) Interaction with GuestsDan works full-time and is often 'on-call'. I am either at home working on home-based businesses, tending to our home/pets or out of town briefly for work. When home, either of us are often available to interact at whatever level is comfortable & convenient. We like people, like opening our home and want guests to feel comfortable, supported & appreciated for choosing our home as their 'get away' spot. If visiting with us is an important aspect of why you chose our home, please do let us know this upon inquiry so that we can look at our availability and make certain we give you the attention and interaction you are hoping to find :) If it were up to me, I'd play tour guide & recreation specialist for a living! We'll always do the very best we can to provide as much information and assistance as possible to make staying in our home and this area of Ca. as comfortable & rewarding as possible. As much detail and/or heads up is appreciated given our busy lives :) On the other hand, we are 100% great with giving space and greeting upon passing one another and in fact, this is just as rewarding :) The NeighborhoodOur space is unique in that it is in such a serene & friendly neighborhood. It is located at the south end of Ukiah where there is not a lot of noise, chaos or commotion (not that Ukiah is this way, just less so where we are located :) ). From our front door, I can send you on a few different lovely walks ranging from challenging hike to benign stroll. Views of rolling hills & vineyards to quiet neighborhoods. Local health club is within walking distance also. Getting AroundMTA bus stops at end of our street for transportation in Ukiah. Riding a bike from our home to downtown is an option too. We are near the last exit @ south end of Ukiah, making hopping on the 101 a snap and head on into Hopland and/or and on to Santa Rosa. We are also a stones throw from Hwy 253/ Booneville Rd which takes you to the town of Booneville or Philo or on to the Mendocino coast @ Navarro Beach (only an hrs drive). Other Things to NoteWould prefer not to include Washer & Dryer given the wear & tear factor but in certain situations, it is available. Thank you for understanding, but don't be afraid to ask either :)

The Space I live in the west-side neighborhood in the small city of Ukiah. This older section of town provides many safe places to stroll and admire the variety of architectural styles, from the stately Victorians to the charming Craftsman bungalows. My house is situated at the end of a long quiet street, buffered by an oak-forested hill. With minimal traffic and a sweet area, guests most always have a very restful slumber. This three bedroom house has one and a half baths. I remodeled the house 13 years ago and this major project affected the entire ambiance of my space. A floor to ceiling wall of windows in my living room provides wonderful natural lighting and a view of my garden and patio in the backyard, blending the indoors and outdoors. Although my space is 1700 sf, the windows create a spacious feeling, allowing me to entertain and to host meetings for larger groups. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped and I love to cook. I enjoy providing breakfast and typically ask for your preferences, if any, ahead of time. Guests are also welcome to cook here and may sit at the kitchen or dining room table or enjoy the patio space in the private backyard. There is a BBQ for guests to use and a few raised beds for seasonal produce and a few fruit trees. My home and landscaping are well-maintained and tastefully designed. I have a reputation for keeping a very clean and neat house and am am grateful when my guests are respectful of my space (which they are). Guests will have plenty to do in Ukiah, but if they prefer, can have a quiet time at home. I have a well-stocked library and an ample selection of DVDs to watch on a large flat-screen TV in the guest room. If you want to do yoga, I have an extra mat or two to use. I also have a "re-bounder" (a mini trampoline) you can use if you want some instant cardio exercise. I have a number of DVDs to watch on a large flat-screen TV in your room and the TV has a ton of stations to watch. I also have a comfy recliner to kick back in. The bed is a queen and is for 1-2 people and as the many reviews indicate-it's comfortable! On occasion a guest has brought a sleeping mat for a friend or child to sleep on next to the bed or in my office. On an even rarer occasion, I have hosted children, but they must be carefully supervised, as this home is not really child-proofed. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the entire house except for my bedroom, office, and bath. If guests want to cook, I am happy to accommodate them. I have a Vitamix blender, a great juicer & quality cookware as well as pretty much anything you need to cook. I am happy to share items that you wouldn't bring on a road trip. or wouldn't buy locally (bulk type items or spices for example). Interaction with Guests The amount of interaction is flexible and based on your needs and wishes. I respect those who are looking for quiet and solitude or those who want conversation, information and a considerable interaction. I respect others' privacy and stay out of the guests' way when we are not sharing space. I am an experienced "tip-toer". I am a "people-person" by nature and love to get to know my guests. I love to share my house and neighborhood as well as ideas & recommendations for interesting destinations that would suit your fancy. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is very quiet, safe and pleasant. Downtown is just a 10-15 minute walk away, the heart of small local businesses, boutiques, and restaurants. There are art galleries, an outstanding museum and a community theater. The Saturday morning Farmers' Market has been a popular gathering place since 1978. Choose from about ten restaurants within walking distance, many of which can accommodate vegetarians/vegans. A short drive will lead you to other choices. I have menus and a listing of restaurant hours to help select where you want to go. Hiking and strolling areas are right outside my door. We also have some good hiking trails and a number of bike lanes throughout the city and beyond. If you want to start or end your day with a brief cardio walk, there is a steep hill just around the corner and it takes about 10-15 minutes to go up and down it and then up and down back. Getting Around We do have (limited) public transportation, but basically all guests come with vehicles. You can walk downtown for meals and/or shopping or go for an early morning or evening stroll right around the neighborhood. There is a taxi service in town if needed. Ukiah is a two hour drive from the Golden Gate Bridge or from the Oakland Airport. There are many places nearby to hike or take leisurely strolls. I have walking maps of the west-side neighborhood with historical details. The city park, with large established shade trees, is just a ten minute walk away with a great playground for children and a city pool with a summer schedule. Adjacent to the park, there is a public golf course. Lake Mendocino-known for fishing, boating, and swimming is only about a 15 minute drive away. Mendocino County has a reputation for outstanding wines, "America's Greenest Wine Region". You could spend days just visiting the inland wineries in the Ukiah area. Also consider heading to the Mendocino Coast, stretching your neck to view the giant redwoods or a calming visit to one of the local hot springs. The coast itself is breathtaking and there are plenty of places to go in Fort Bragg and Mendocino-both less than 75 minutes away. Other Things to NoteI enjoy sharing my home; friends and guests typically feel relaxed and welcome in my home and I think you will enjoy your stay here. I look forward to meeting new people and providing a very comfortable home away from home. I enjoy introducing people to great places to visit in my community in a personalized manner.

The SpaceNestled at the top of the Southwestern mountain's overlooking the beautiful vineyards of Ukiah in Mendocino County is were you'll find Vista View Ranch. When my Great Grandparent's first came to this country side in 1902, with it's deep lush canyons so green and fresh they became enchanted with it's lovely views and babbling waterfalls. The family worked hard and planted many fruit bearing trees and lovely vegetable and flower gardens with ponds and sitting areas. My Great Grandmother brought her mother and family here from England. She became well known in the community for having Sunday gatherings on the porch. A huge Church bell still hangs there today. The family dairy flourished many bought there milk from "Romer Vista Dairy". Grateful to be caring on the family traditions five generations later Ginger Cortez designed and with much love built "Vista View Ranch" in 1995 with her family. On the top of the family's six hundred acre ranch. At one point when the children were young we had up to 200 animals at Vista View Ranch. As I take the little winding country road I pass my Great Grandparent House everyday and smile seeing the same fruit trees the family planted a hundred years ago some of my wonderful family still live there today. Over the years family and friends say the same thing to me no mature what season we are in I here: "It is so beautiful up here". "This place makes me feel like I'm on vacation". "It's just so relaxing". I enjoy travel but oh how I love to come home to Vista View Ranch. I love to entertain. My friends are the best and I love to cook for them. When you come up I want to nurcher you a bit, doesn't everyone like to be cared for. We all need time to recharge, reconnect with a loved one family or friends. What is in my heart is to make people feel special, gathering of family and friends at the table,(breakfast table, picnic table, dinner table) my nature is to serve you with attention spent on detail. I want to delight you with some country charm. It gives me pleasure whether I am showing you the trail that leads around the top of the rim up behind my house maybe to catch a sun set and have some wine and cheese or preparing a meal that I grew with the traditions of family and land. I keep it simple, relaxed and hope you will enjoy my style. I use Airbnb because I want to show you my beautiful county from a locals perspective. I am a very adventurous type. I like a little fun, some great food with local flavor, great wines and I want to show you the hot spots the locals love to go to. It's close by and convenient yet still off at a distance. Redwood groves with a wonderful Winery are literally right next door to my ranch. Many other Winery's some with flavored sparkling wines and others with award winning Brandy's are for your choosing. In Mendocino County most winery's still have no tasting fee's as long as you buy a bottle of wine when you visit. If you tell me your interests in advance I'll give you suggestions of the best places in the area. The bedroom you will be staying in has a beautiful view overlooking the Ukiah Valley. The bathroom with shower/tub is right next to the bedroom. A hundred foot wrap around deck is a wonderful place to eat and B.B.Q. The lower deck has a hot tub that sits near the edge of a cliff for breathtaking star lit sky's and city light view's. In the day time the mountains will embrace you with there beauty. Quiet, romantic, private are just a few words that describe Vista View Ranch. The ocean is just an hour away if you go to Point Arena. One and a half hours if your going to Mendocino. Along Highway 253 the country side is home to some breath taking views of old growth redwood's many folks love the Brewery's that are along the way as well as the winery's.

The SpaceIt is a unique place on an ecologically stewarded property. Three solar arrays power all structures on this land nestled in the peaceful oak woodlands of Mendocino County. Water comes from a spring on the land and passes through a UV treatment system. There is a bath with a tub and the only sink (for dishes, as well as hands, tooth-brushing etc.) inside the house, while the enclosed, exterior toilet is a biological, or "dry" toilet, operating without wasting water. Its operation is simple for guests, and helps us act responsibly during California's drought. With the free-standing second bedroom cabin, our place can sleep two couples or a family. There is a kitchenette and full-size refrigerator in the main space, which is cute, cozy and filled with Lauren Sinnott Hamburg's original artworks relating to the "castle" theme. The kitchen area is well equipped with stove, oven, microwave, blender, toaster, pots, pans, dishes, french press and some essential ingredients for cooking, BUT THE ONE SINK AND DISH DRYING AREA IS IN THE BATH. This is also where the tub is. Toilet and shower are out back. A new feature we have recently added is a lounge zone with two deck chairs, a lamp, and a double bed located on the rooftop deck, under the dappled sun/stars. If you wish to sleep there, let us know and we will make up the bed. These roof top furnishings are unpretentious but comfortable. The cool experience is sleeping under the stars and waking to the gently rising sun. There is also a tiny loft located off the stairway to the roof deck where two portable twin mattresses are stored. The mattress(es) could be pulled down for additional sleeping in the main space. NOTE THAT WHILE WE LIST AS HAVING 2 BEDS, THERE ARE THE 3RD DOUBLE ON THE ROOF AND THE PORTABLE TWIN MATTRESSES AS OPTIONS FOR LARGER PARTIES. If you do want to bring a larger party, please communicate with me. Please also accurately list the number of guests in your party of any size when you book. Thanks! Guest Access*Private cottage space includes kitchenette, dining table, lounge, indoor bathtub and one sink; laundry and dry toilet are located on its roofed exterior concrete deck. *The free-standing second bedroom, with windows on three sides, containing a double bed, dresser, table and chair. *Wooden deck overlooking a beautiful valley. *Fenced yard around and between the two structures. *Deck on the roof of the main structure. Interaction with GuestsWe would like to greet our guests and give them tips about the guest space, and instructions for the biological toilet. We would like to know if the guests have special needs or wishes. We live in the main house on the property and are available if needs or questions arise. Texting is the best way to reach us on the property. We like to know approximately when guests intend to depart. We like to say goodbye and get to see guests before they go! The NeighborhoodVery peaceful and rural, yet close ( a 5-10 minute drive) to Ukiah, the county seat, and Hwy. 101. In the middle of Mendocino wine country. Getting AroundAccess to the Castle Cottage is by car. Ukiah itself is walkable and bike-friendly. Mass transit is limited, but cute and friendly! --available through MTA. Parking for the Castle Cottage is right in front of the structure, in our family lot, which is fairly small. Guests could arrive in two cars if absolutely necessary, but one is preferable. Other Things to NoteTOILET We will provide full, easy instructions for the biological "dry" toilet. This is an ecological feature that lets us take care with water usage. We appreciate your participation. ARRIVAL When you get to our gravel drive at 1330 Boonville Road, please drive the last 1/5 of a mile very slowly. 10 MPH. We thank you profoundly. CHICKENS Please note that we have chickens: six laying hens and one rooster, who crows a few times early every morning. Dan is also an early riser and lets the chickens out, when the rooster quiets. While adding to the property's rural charm, the rooster's noise may annoy some. Rest assured it will be brief! WE ARE FULLY COMPLIANT WITH LOCAL LAWS Your rental rate INCLUDES the 11% Mendocino County Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) that all operators offering visitors occupancy of 30 days and under must collect and remit to the Treasurer's office. We do this monthly, in compliance with local regulation. There is no additional charge to you.

Leonard and I are still dating and he has his own house but is with me much of the time. Others who are interested in more conversation I am willing to share the History of my beautiful ranch and the Valley Below.
