The SpaceWhile this house is on a secluded property off a long driveway, it is convenient to many of the Hudson Valley's treasures. The house itself is beautifully furnished with an eclectic mix of antiques and modern furniture. Open living and cooking space with amazing views of the private 25-acre meadow. In season, extensive gardens surround the home. Wildlife abounds! The master bedroom has three sides of windows and unique, hand-crafted doors. Lots of light and naturally cool. The kitchen is fully equipped, but bring your own food. There is also a "cauldron" -- something like a fire pit and a grill combined -- which is wonderful to watch the sunset by and prepare dinner. I live on the property (in a separate house) and am happy to introduce you to the area if I am around. The property is located about 1000 feet from the Hudson River and Esopus Meadow Preserve. There are half a dozen trails within 5 to 10 minutes' drive. Located 15-25 minutes from New Paltz, Poughkeepsie, Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Woodstock, Kingston, Rosendale, High Falls, Highland. Train into Poughkeepsie (or Rhinecliff) is best public transport. Best to come by car so you can explore the area! Two night minimum. 1 queen bed in master bedroom, and two twin beds in second bedroom. Guest AccessIn the summer there is a magical pool surrounded by an unbelievable number of flowers! In the winter, a wood-burning fireplace makes things cozy. There is a "cauldron" for grilling and enjoying like a fire pit outdoors in the spring, summer and fall. Interaction with GuestsI am happy to give tips about what to do and see, if I am here, or before you get here. As mentioned, I live in a separate home 500+ feet from the available house, so there is lots of privacy. If I'm here, I'm only a text away. We may be seeing each other at the pool, but generally I have found we can work around each other. The NeighborhoodThere is so much to do in the area, although you may never want to leave this magical spot...Within minutes there are 4 reserves for 1-2 hour hikes (see (URL HIDDEN) as well as Mohonk about 30 minutes away--with miles and weeks of hiking. There are also vineyards/ distilleries, lots of little villages (Rosendale, High Falls, Stone Ridge, Kingston/uptown, Kingston/rondout, Rhinebeck, Rhinecliff, Red Hook, Beacon, Hudson) and fun restaurants, farms and farmer's markets. Next door there is a picking orchard that has more than just apples and pumpkins in season. Bard and Vassar have terrific music and theatrical programs, and every night of the week there is music playing somewhere nearby (check out: The Falcon, Club Helsinki, Towne Crier, Colony Cafe, among many others). Getting AroundWhile the train takes you to Poughkeepsie, about 20 minutes away, I would recommend a car so you can get out and explore the area, pick up groceries, go hiking, local fairs and festivals, music, etc. Note that nothing is within walking distance! Other Things to NotePlease feel free to ask me questions if you don't see your answers here. Please note that for holiday weekends and weeks I will be looking for 3 day minimums. I am sorry that I have not figured out how to indicate that on the calendar.

The SpaceThree bedrooms available (price quoted is per bedroom) in former Dutch barn, (which dates back almost 250 years). This bedroom is on the first floor with its own designated (although not attached) bathroom. Recently renovated, with 35 foot center hall ceiling, internet, cable TV, private parking, on 50 acres of property with horses, almost 2 miles of hiking trails, and an active stream with crystal clear swimmable water, that runs right near the house. Great hosts providing awesome breakfasts. Has own entrance, air conditioning, radiant heating, and even has towel warmers in the bathrooms. Wi-fi available, and the entertainment room has a large flat screen TV with surround sound. An iPod plug in is provided to play our iPod with over 1500 songs (or just plug in yours), and it plays from speakers placed in the four corners of the space. Definitely a one of a kind, high-end experience. Massages (for additional fees), may be arranged, and the space is available for events such as weddings, corporate parties or photo shoots. While not available for rental, the attached Dutch stone colonial house dates back to about 1750. Additionally, there are several outbuildings, two barns, one of which is used for horse boarding, the other is a post and beam, newly constructed storage area, a working greenhouse, and a small cabin in the woods. Substantial amount of wildlife on the property, including deer, wild turkey, fox and several blue herons. Apple orchard, and gardens for strolling. Near Hudson Valley wine trail, and the Hudson River. Kingston 10 minutes north, New Paltz 15 minutes south, 5 minutes from the Headless Horseman Hayride. About 15 minutes from the Walkway Over the Hudson, and 20 minutes from the train in Poughkeepsie, New York. Also within minutes of several restaurants run by graduates of the Culinary Institute of America. Guest AccessOutside there are 50 acres, (4/5ths wooded, 1/5th cleared) approximately 2 miles of trails for hiking or jogging. Additionally there is a crystal clear, swim-able running brook, an apple orchard and a small pond. Inside, there is a large room for dining, an entertainment room, and a small gym. Interaction with GuestsWe are either on the premises or a text message away. We meet the guests upon arrival, give them their key, and instruct them on how to use the lights, and towel warmers. The NeighborhoodThis portion of the Hudson Valley is a well kept secret. We are rich in history (our property was an Indian winter camp, and we still find arrowheads on it), have architecture dating back to the 1700s, and are near the Hudson River if you want to do boating or sailing. Additionally, the hiking is amazing, we have rolling hills on our property, stone walls, and an old apple orchard. Getting AroundThere is no public transit to our property. However, there are buses that take you to Kingston and we are a 15 minute cab drive from there. Additionally, the train takes you to Poughkeepsie, and we are about 22 minutes from there by cab. Other Things to NoteThe barn addition, which is the area we make available to guests is a reconstructed, previously working, Dutch barn, which we brought over, "stick by stick", and reconstructed into residential space, having saved a 260 year old structure from pending demolition. The original, old beams are still visible, and are still functioning as the "bones" of the house.

Also within minutes of several restaurants run by graduates of the Culinary Institute of America. Guests have access to our 50 acres of land with an apple orchard, and about 2 miles of maintained trails. Additionally, guests can dip their feet in the babbling brook about 200 feet from the house. We meet the guests upon arrival and provide them with keys and instructions for using the lighting and thermostats, and then allow them their privacy. At the agreed upon time the next morning, we enter the barn to serve breakfast. The neighborhood is very natural and picturesque, with rolling hills and nearby agriculture. At the same time we are only 10 minutes from Kingston, 15 minutes from New Paltz, and have easy access to entertainment and restaurants. Being in a rural environment, there is no public transit right nearby. However, the train to Poughkeepsie is about a 20 minute drive, and there are available cabs to take you from the station or airport. If you drive, parking is easily available on the property. The three bedrooms provide comfortable space for 6 adults. If needed, for an extra charge, another room could be converted into a bedroom to accommodate an additional 2 guests, or a total of 8 guests. The neighborhood is very natural and picturesque, with rolling hills and nearby agriculture. At the same time we are only 10 minutes from Kingston, 15 minutes from New Paltz, and have easy access to entertainment and restaurants. On sunny days you can see about 50 to 100 small fish from the bridge. These fish get eaten from time to time by a great heron who regularly comes to feast. Guest AccessGuests have access to an additional 50 acres of land with an apple orchard, and about 2 miles of maintained trails. Additionally, guests can dip their feet in the babbling brook about 200 feet from the house. The three bedrooms provide comfortable space for 6 adults. If needed, for an extra charge, the entertainment room could be converted into a bedroom to accommodate an additional 2 guests, or a total of 8 guests. Interaction with GuestsWe will greet each guest as they arrive, and provide you with keys at that time, and instructions for the lighting and towel warmers. We value your privacy, and unless requested, the next time we re-enter the property is to serve breakfast the next morning. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is a hidden gem, less than a mile from the Hudson River, and filled with local history. Our property had been a Native American winter camp, and we still find ancient arrowheads. Getting AroundThere is no public transit to the property. However, we are a 15 minute cab ride away from Kingston (which has public transit), and we are a 22 minute drive away from the Poughkeepsie train station. If you drive, we have more than adequate parking to accommodate you. Other Things to NoteThe bedrooms have eclectic decor, ranging from details such as locally made furniture to items from China, Tibet, and Thailand. One bedroom focuses on stereoscopes, and old photography, and all bedrooms have at least one mid century modern piece of furniture. The most dramatic decor is the entrance to the room upstairs which we call the "Zen Room", as it has an antique Chinese door originally made for a palace or estate. Inside the main room downstairs is a graceful Buddha from Thailand, hanging yak bells from Tibet and an antique organ grinder from Russia. The barn addition, which is the area we make available to guests, is a reconstructed, previously working, Dutch barn, which we brought over from Ellenville, "stick by stick", and reconstructed into residential space, having saved a 260 year old structure from pending demolition to make way for a trailer park. The original, old hand-hewned beams with deep adze tool marks are still visible, and even today function as the "bones" of the house. The radiant heat emanates from the floor (upstairs too!) and the place is toasty when it is below zero outside. In the summer, the air conditioning makes the place comfortable as well, as it is well insulated, and the year round crystal clear stream 200 feet from the house invites you to dip your feet in.
