The SpaceYour space is the master bedroom with a California king mattress in our 3 bedroom 1.5 bathroom town-house that accommodates two people, perhaps also a small child.
My husband and I make this space available when we're out of town for extended periods of time. An older gentleman (my father-in-law) and our two dogs and one cat reside in this space and will be in the home during your stay. However, the house is mostly empty throughout the week and you will likely have the entire home to yourself between 11am-7pm daily.
In summer months, a deck, back yard space, and propane grill is available. There is also a fire-pit to enjoy! Storage for adventure gear, fishing or camping equipment is available, and, on a case by case basis, its possible to rent one of our vehicles for the duration of your stay. (If you're considering this option, make sure your car-insurance specifies your coverage extends to the vehicles you borrow).
Bikes for adults are also onsite and available for you to use. Guest AccessYou will have access to all spaces in the home aside from one bedroom that is occupied by my father-in-law and the office in which the dogs sleep.
Towels, pillows, blankets, sheets, and all kitchen equipment is provided. Interaction with GuestsMy father-in-law will be available to answer questions and help you navigate Unalaska. My husband and I will be available on the phone. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is called "the valley" and our home is located almost at the end of the one road that takes you from one side of the island to the other. We are considered to be on the "Unalaska" side of the island, whereas the airport and Safeway are located on the "Dutch Harbor" side of Unalaska island. Getting AroundThere are rental cars available on the island as are Taxi services. There is no public transportation. It may be possible to rent one of our 4x4 vehicles during your stay. Ask about this in your message to us! Other Things to NoteRenting rooms, even hotel rooms can be pricey and hard to come by in Unalaska. Hotels and housing are seasonally very limited and the options we do have can be quite rustic and industrial, built to accommodate the needs of the fishing industry.
We are happy to be able to make our space available to you so you can enjoy a safe and comfortable home while you are here. We might also be able to rent you one of our vehicles for the duration of your stay. Plan well enough in advance so we can give you our best options! If you have any questions we can answer to make your planning easier, contact us any time!
