The SpaceWe live in an 8,000 sq. ft. restored historic Greek Revival home, called Hawthorne Heights. Our home has been featured in many magazines, we have had a movie made here, and our home is also on a Drive By Tour. We offer 6 bedrooms with a very nice environment for guests, with rooms much larger than hotel rooms. Overnight and extended stay visitors are welcome and our rooms have every comfort, including down comforters, feather and regular pillows, a TV, and WiFi. Two of the guest rooms are adjoining rooms to accommodate larger families & close friends. Hawthorne Heights is in a quite neighborhood in a very small town with churches within blocks of each other behind us. We also have a museum, a florist, a Dollar General, a grocery, a Pawn Shop, our antique store, a bakery, a Sports Store, a doctor, a Pharmacy, a resturant, a bank and gas stations to accommodate your immediate needs. There is also shopping, restaurants, grocery, antique shops, gift shops and fast food conveniently located within a few short miles. We are located halfway between Augusta and Atlanta just six miles North of I-20. Our home was built in 1848; before the civil war, and we have restored it back to it's original grandeur and furnished it with many period antiques. It was built and occupied by Judge Samuel L. Hart and his family and heirs until we purchased it in December of 2003. We have been restoring it since then and it will alway be a work in progress for the two of us because of it's size and age. Please come and enjoy a small piece of the past with us, and sense the glory and ambiance of a time gone by; the wonderful Victorian Era. Guest AccessWhen booking our 8,000 sq. ft. home you would have access to all 22 rooms except our den/bedroom on the first floor. We will remain on the property at all times since this is our only place of residence. We also want to be available to help, assist, and accommodate you in every way we can. You can use the kitchen & there is a small refrigerator filled with bottled water & another microwave in the second floor hallway. We provide internet access, free long distance on land line phones, iron & ironing board & most anything you might need. Interaction with GuestsWe are always here for your questions, concerns, or to help in any way. We want to respect your privacy, but would love to visit with you if you have the time. The NeighborhoodOur home is in a small, quiet town & one of the many reasons we love living here. Hawthorne Heights sits on three acres right across fom downtown. Getting AroundThere is no transit system here, but we are across the street from our down town and you can walk there in a few minutes. Other Things to NoteOur home is full of history. We love sharing the photos of the home as it was built as an English Raised Cottage in 1848, & when it was remodeled into a 3 story Greek Revival in 1900. We purchased the home in Dec. 2003, after it sat vacant for several years. We are the first to live here since the original family & their descendants. We have spent the last 10 years restoring it back to its original splendor on the inside, with all before and after photos, and now we will begin on the outside of our beautiful grand old lady.

The SpaceThis large room is located on the 3rd floor of our home, and is one of two guest rooms on this level, There is a full size canopy bed and two twin beds here and a baby's cradle if needed. A lovely sitting room with a game table at the top of the stairs separates the two guest rooms. We chose blue and white colors to create a calming atmosphere in this quite retreat. A dressing table and chairs allow for plenty of seating also. This room also has a ceiling fan as well as one in the sitting room and second bedroom. The high ceilings in our home mean more stairs than normal so let this be a consideration when choosing the top floor. We offer a 'turn down' service every night and a continental breakfast every morning beginning at 7:00 AM. Of course it's no problem to have it ready earlier in order to accommodate your schedule. We do have fruit & snacks available in the Butler's kitchen at all times. At the bottom of the stairs to the second floor foyer is a land line phone, bottled water in the refrigerator and a microwave for your convenience. There is no TV on the top floor, but WiFi is available in every room. Bathroom's are on the 1st and 2nd floors only. The home is located in a small town in a very quite neighborhood directly across the street from downtown. We are within walking distance to a pharmacy, doctor, banking, sports shop, Dollar General, restaurant, florist, gas stations, pawn shop, and a laundry mat. Within 10 minutes there are several quaint little towns that have more restaurants, shopping and entertainment. You are 25 minutes from Madison and about an hour from Athens to the North, Augusta to the East, Macon to the South, and Atlanta to the West. If you are a sports fan, we have our Georgia Bulldogs in Athens in the fall, and the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta in the spring, and Durhamtown in Union Point always has activities all year for everyone. We like to think our home is very unique and in a very convenient location with small towns all around us and the big cities in all directions. The home was built in 1848 and we have been here since 2003, being the first to live in the home since the family. It's a work in progress, with always something to repair or restore, as with all old homes, but we love it and it's wonderful history. It's one of the oldest homes in Union Point, and one of the few that survived Sherman. Please feel free to explore all the common areas and the guest rooms when not occupied in this 'grand old lady'. The SpaceThis room has a queen size bed with a beautiful circle canopy over the head board. It also has a full size bed, therefore the room can easily accomodate four guests. It is located on the 3rd floor of the home, and is one of two private rooms on that floor. A lovely sitting room with a game table separates the two guest rooms at the top of the stairs. The Pink Room is furnished in wicker and complete with a chaise lounge, bassinet, dresser and desk. The color theme is pink and white and has a sweet carousel horse in the corner. Ceiling fans are in both guests rooms and the sitting area for your comfort. There is no TV on the 3rd floor, but WiFi is available there. Bathrooms are on the 1st and 2nd floor only. There is a land line phone, microwave, and bottled water in the refrigeration right at the bottom of the 3rd floor stairs in the sitting area. We offer a 'turn down' service every night and a continental breakfast every morning. Breakfast is ready by 7:00, but it's no problem to have it available earlier to accommodate your schedule. Fruit and snacks are available in the Butler's Kitchen at all times. This is a very spacious room and will easily accommodate a roll-away bed, or a port-a-crib. The ceiling's are 12' high in this house, so there are a lot of stairs leading to the 3rd floor and this should be a consideration when booking this room. Usually the younger folks prefer the top floor, but it's available for anyone that does not mind the stairs. It's a quite neighborhood and it's especially quite on the top floor. Across the street from our home is the downtown, with a pharmacy, bank, sport store and a doctor, and within walking distance is a restaurant, Dollar General, pawn shop, gas station and florist. Within 10 minutes in several directions are other small towns with food, shopping and entertainment also. The 3rd floor is particularly unique in that it was never used for anything other than an attic for storage. We were the first to live in the house since the family, and thought the attic rooms would be a wonderful addition to the living quarters of the home. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have.
