The architecture is a true reflection of his extensive originality, vision and skills, as well as a merge of Caribbean & Mediterranean influences from his life travels and native roots. The Family purchased the property in 2007 with the desire to transform it into a small, comfortable hotel, believing it was time to introduce visitors to this magnificent and still undiscovered region of Western Belize. They also wanted to create an atmosphere in which the visitor is a friend and neighbor rather than a tourist. It is the very sense of family that distinguishes Casa Sofia Inn as one of the most charming small new hotel in Cayo. For the Lungarini Family Casa Sofia Inn & Restaurant is a dream come true. It has been evolving for the past eight years and continues to transform daily with future plans of adding amenities such as a pool, offering refined entertainment and probably additional dwellings as they continue to improve their dream. It is truly a master piece of love, family dedication and of diverse decor. The outsized hand holding a martini glass at the entrance of the establishment speaks for itself.

We are located in the heart of Cristo Rey Village which is uniquely located between San Ignacio and the Mountain Pine Ridge area of the Cayo District. Cristo Rey was settled initially by the Mayans and much of that cultural influence still exists. In fact, there is a genuine Mayan Mound on our property. We find Mayan pottery every time we look! And you will find some too (but it can't go with you). For more information: BelizeGlamping 'period' com Cristo Rey is nestled in the foothills of the jungle directly on the Macal River. And while we are in the jungle, we are still in a village - so there are quite a few amenities available within walking distance, including local cuisine, food shops, gift shop, and bus/shuttle service. There is no other lodging on the Macal River that is as conveniently located as we are! Our Lime Tree casita is furnished with a custom built mahogany queen bed, and has a private bath with hot water, electricity & free unlimited wifi. A large covered private deck with a view of the jungle and river provide a relaxing respite after a day of tours & adventures! And as the name implies, you are greeted by a lime tree at the entrance. The limes ripen year round, so help yourself to freshly squeezed, refreshing lime juice! There are also lots of jungle sounds, including Howler Monkeys, chakalakas (type of bird), parrots, parakeets, toucans and any other number of local inhabitants, including the occasional village barking dog, and roosters. Our village was originally settled by Mayans - in fact there is a Mayan mound on our property (you can search for mayan pottery - which we GUARANTEE you will find). You just n.eed to leave it behind. The current-day village has about 700 residents. There is a small grocer immediately across the road from us. The bus/shuttle picks up right in front of our property for easy access to San Ignacio. There is also a small souvenir shop that features crafts made by the villagers. Also within walking distance is a local restaurant/bar. For those that are more adventurous, Cristo Rey is the home of "The Showers", a well-kept secret waterfall! About a one-mile walk from us. In Belize you'll find a lot of jungle & village sounds, including howler monkeys, toucans, parrots, chakalakas, roosters and the occasional barking dog (usually, not ours!).
