The SpaceWelcome to Suite Chez Jennie! :) In the lower level, it's very light, newly remodeled two years ago, and in one of the nicest, quietest historic neighborhoods.
Check in time can be more flexible on the weekends, so please ask about early check in if you are visiting on a weekend. You'll also see that I have every Monday as unavailable, however, if you want to extend a weekend stay into Monday or include Mondays in a long term stay, we can work it out: I am just not available to check guests in on Mondays. Let me know!
If you are allergic to cats or really don't want them visiting you during your stay, this is the wrong place for you. Three friendly felines (Yowlie, Trinket, and Vlad) have access to the lower level. Also, for groups of three, if you plan to party a bit, please keep it very quiet: particularly in summer, with the windows open, noise really travels and you can be heard for a block in this very quiet residential neighborhood. Guest AccessAccess to laundry room, screened porch, and kitchen. Interaction with GuestsYou'll have my phone number for emergencies, and I'm often right upstairs. I grew up in Des Moines, so if you have questions or want recommendations for dinner, ask me: I'm super opinionated! :) The NeighborhoodBeaverdale was at one point a far northwest suburb of Des Moines, and is known for the 1 and 1/2 and two story brick homes known locally as "Beaverdale bricks." One of the most popular BBQ spots in Des Moines, The Flying Mango, is a two block walk from the house, and downtown Beaverdale, with shops and restaurants, is two blocks the other direction. Getting AroundWe're a twenty minute drive from downtown, and that's if the traffic is heavy. Nothing in the metro area is more than 20 to 30 minutes away by car. The airport is about fifteen minutes away even in "bad" traffic. DMU is 10 minutes at most, Drake, about the same. Other Things to NoteStreet parking on one side of the street only: you'll see where other cars are parked, so park the same way! :)
