                      2br house
Conveniently located 1000 feet above the village of Uvita, where the mountains go right down to the coast, this private 2000 square foot villa is nestled in a secluded jungle setting. There are ocean views across the entire west side of the villa: kitchen, dining area, living room and veranda. One of the two bedrooms is set behind the veranda and can open up on it, allowing for an ocean view from bed. You don't have to bring much clothing because there is a designated laundry room with washer and dryer and we provide the detergent. Due to the rapid rise in elevation, a 4x4 SUV is needed. If you want to stay connected in the wilds, bring your laptop. The villa has WiFi. Relax by your own private 40 foot ocean view swimming pool. Or for that rainy afternoon watch one of 50 DVD's on the flat-screen TV or one of the CD's from our collection. Our property manager, Rolando Fallas, will meet you on your arrival, orient you to the area, and escort you up to the house. He will be available to you throughout your stay for questions and issues that may arrive. Hike right from the front door 10 minutes down to a beautiful waterfall swimming pool. Or make the 10 minute down to the village. Uvita is a multi-cultural community which serves as the shopping hub for the area. There are supermarkets, a tourist information center, internet cafes, boutiques and shops. There is a farmers' market every Saturday morning where local artisans sell their wares. Uvita connects to Bahia, the entrance to Marino Ballena National Park which has the Whale's Tail, a nearly 700 meter long and 250 meter wide sandbank, the third largest in the world. The Whale's Tail divides the endless coastline of beaches into two distinct kinds. On one side, enjoy vigorous surf for both swimming and surfing. And on the other side, enjoy the calm water ideal for children and snorkeling. Tour operators here (We recommend Uvita Information Center) will bring you snorkeling right off the coast at Ballena Isla or to the famous Cano Island for scuba or snorkeling. They also offer tours to Corcovado national Park just across the bay for a day of hiking in one of the few primal forests left in the world. Or choose a day of deep sea fishing or tour Uvita's 1000 acre wildlife preserve. Take a zip line tour and an ATV tour. Go 5 miles down the Costanero to kayak on the Terraba River in the largest mangrove in Costa Rica. We also have several wonderful waterfalls which you can walk to or rent a a horse and ride there. With ocean breezes all day and cool mountain air at night, there is no need for air conditioning (although one bedroom has an in-wall unit). The two large bedrooms have queen size beds (one bedroom has an additional single bed), private baths, and are separated by a spacious living room. All closets are dehumidified. Fully equipped kitchen and vaulted ceilings with palm frond ceiling fans give this home both comfort and beauty. Incredible wildlife and spectacular sunsets make Casa Toucan unforgettable. Wake up to the calls of howler monkeys and have sunset cocktails with resident toucans by your private, 40 foot swimming pool. The villa is located 2 miles up a gravel road from the village and requires a 4x4 SUV.

The SpaceThese tranquil open air cabinas (two rooms double bedroom and a bunk bedroom, adjoined by common indoor/ outdoor kitchen) is perfect for a family of 4, or 4 ( a couple and two singles) people travelling together, or a couple just wanting a unique, romantic, and private Costa Rican experience where the geckos are part of the experience. This is not a hotel nor a hostel! The outdoor, but enclosed shower and bathroom area, is around the side of the cabinas. The shower is "fresco" water, another costa rican experience, and refreshing after a day in the hot sun. Lots of meshed windows allow the fresh air in, and allow you to enjoy the sounds and sights of the nature around. Fans included. Comfortable seating and wifi as well. It sits on the back of a lush 1.5 acre lot of "Casa de Ki" which is the main house in the front of the property with the big roof. You will have privacy all around you with everything you want min., away. Wake up in the morning and enjoy traditional coffee made in a sock, yes a sock!!, listening to the tropical birds, eating from the many backyard fruits. You might get lucky to be gazed at by a Brahmin cow from the pasture next door, and definately geckos croaking at you. Guest AccessIf the main house isn't rented out you will have access to the front of the house hammocks, and bar area. If it is rented out however please be respectful of the other guests using the front area as it is part of the main Casa. The back cabinas have their own view of the large lush backyard, trees and pasture surrounding. Private parking on site, and included. Interaction with GuestsWe are always available to interact with any questions you may have. We are extremely friendly, hope that we provide good tips. We are always open to having a beer and chatting and even taking a day at the beach with our guests. In our absence we leave our property in the hands of Deborah and Richard, a couple recently retired to Uvita and who are living in the main casa. They are quite humerous, and will be able to provide you with ample information, tips and guide you well. Richard is Argentinian as well and will be able to help translate in Spanish! We have a scooter for borrow with safety gear for $25/ day, plus return with full tank ( less than $4US). Liability is on your own, and any damage must be paid for by borrower. The NeighborhoodOUr village of Uvita is a hidden gem, not populated like the crowded Manuel Antonio or up north in the Nicoya Peninsula. Here there are many many places, beaches, waterfalls, jungles, tours to be had, but without the mass amounts of tourists, traffic and noise. We aren't a destination for clubbing, but unwinding in peace with lots of options. We are min., away from banks, full grocery stores, restaurants, and everything you would need to make your trip easy. Getting AroundClosest airport is San Jose, with 'directo' buses leaving the city bus terminal for Uvita everyday. (4 hours drive). The ultimate best way to get around is by renting a car/ motorbike. Manuel Antoinio a 'tourist' hotspot is 50 min., away and has excellent deals on cars. Adobe is great. Other Things to NoteThe location is perfect for getting around the south of Costa Ricas tourist attractions: plentiful undiscovered beaches, amazing surfing, waterfalls, and national reserves- without the crowds!! The "Marina Ballena National Park" being a national park, does cost a small fee, but there are plenty of other free entrances, and lots of free beaches around. Great diving and snorkelling. Up the road is one of the best pizza places in Uvita, called "La Fogata", and " The Dome restaurant" is at the top of the road. IF in the budget, we do recommend renting a vehicle to get around the south of CR., as this highway has so many accessible routes to less travelled beaches and waterfalls. We have 5 security cameras on the premises, and all are in public spaces for everyons security. The one in the cabina is in the open air kitchen, and you can put a bag on it when you are there if you feel it. The internet is something that we rely on, but sometimes in heavy rain, or storms - it can be problematic. Its high speed and quite reliable, but it is CR., and we do our best to fix the problem, if there is one, immediately. Sometimes its just a matter of plugging it in and out of the router. There is always internet up under the big roof in the main casa, which is public space, and a 20 sec walk from the cabina.

The Space2 min. away from the main Costanera Sur highway, off the heart of the village of Uvita, far enough away surrounded by farm land and lush trees so all you hear are the tropical birds, and the cows when they are close by. We are on the same road as the Marino Balleno National Park: the whales tale which you see clearly at low tide, where you'll see whales and dolphins playing, which is two min. away drive or a 15-20 min. peaceful walk. Close to everything in Uvita. and only an hour south of Manuel Antonio. This village has every first world want, and adrenaline seeking thrill, but boasts a very different vibe. Perfect for the visitor wanting it all, but not the crowds. Surfing, snorkeling, kayaking, horse back riding, caving, waterfalls, national parks, good food, and good company. Home of the 'Envision' festival, and other music festivals. Wake up every morning to the sounds of tropical birds, cicadas, watch the colourful hummingbirds while sipping your Costa Rican coffee, from the traditional coffee maker, and see iguanas basking in the sun. If you're lucky, you'll have the company of a Brahman cow talking to you over the fence, with its giant eyes luring you in. Eat from our papaya, mango, avocado, star fruit, anona, orange, trees and pinapple!! Smell the illang and illang fragrant at dusk, and retreat at night to the music of the geckos, toads, and sounds of tropical paradise....oh and no traffic. Peace. This house : CASA DE KI is a unique large rafter roof structure which has a long bamboo- stone bar, hang out area in front of it stage, kitchen, private bathroom, and large indigo blue bedroom with a double bed is under the main house, called "Grande KI". In front of it is the lush front yard with a starfish shaped fire pit, ilang ilang tree which sends out its fragrance at around 5pm. The big Casa is shared with Ken and myself, as we sleep just off the main Casa kitchen. Your bedroom is on the opposite end of the house, just behind the 'stage'. Perfect for the couple who wants more space, tranquility, and the ability to unwind after a long day of tours and thrill seeking, without having to go out again(URL HIDDEN) At the back of the property, a 10 sec walk takes you too TWO attached rustic wood CABINAS, : one has a bunk bed, called "CHI". It has a closet, and mirror, and fan. The other larger cabina called "REI" has a double bed, mirror, hanger, and luggage rack, is perfect for a couple wanting romance. and a bit more space. All the windows have mesh, allowing the air to circulate freely while still being able to see the nature around. The geckos will be a part of the ambiance and adventurous experience. The entire back cabinas would be ideal for parents with one or two children above the age of 8. Both cabinas are joined by a relaxing open all wood kitchen and sit up bar overlooking the back gardens, with comfortable seating. Around the side, but attached is an outdoor 'fresco' typical Costa Rican shower!! And artistic bathroom. Privately set back on the lush property surrounded by mature fruit trees and plants. Relax back there, and read your favourite book, listen to the birds, and if you are lucky the company of a neighboring Brahman cow. Both kitchens are set up with cooking utensils, pots, pans, plates, fridge, gas burners, and common Costa Rican hanging coffee sack! All rooms have bedding, towels and fans. We have yoga mats and family games for your pleasure and use. Guest AccessGuest access is to all of the property if entire house and cabins in the back are rented: Front yard - with lush trees, pond, and starshaped firepit. Main big House is semi private sharing the kitchen with Ken and myself., and surrounded by lush trees and farmland. This is the difference between living here or at a hostel. You and your friends can enjoy the ambiance of outdoor/indoor living with the entire space of the property. Interaction with GuestsWe live on the property, and stay in the bedroom, in the main house kitchen, which is shared with guests who rent the main Casa. We try to be as knowledgable about things to do, places to go, tips and all things under the sun. We do love company, but also enjoy our private time, as quality of life is what we love Costa Rica for. The NeighborhoodRight off the main CostaSur Highway, (by the DOME restaurant, and La Fogata pizzeria) along river, and up from the Marina Ballena Park. A perfect location for jungle expeditions, surfing, water sports, waterfall discoveries, snorkeling, diving, and close to Panama and Manuel Antonio. Getting AroundSan Jose is the closest airport with 'directo' buses leaving everyday for Uvita (4 hour) If coming by car, or bike, its right along the highway south to Quepos, and along the newly built highway (some of the most pristine driving along the coast in CR) with jungle on the left and stunning beaches on the right. Other Things to NoteParking is onsite, and free. Our location is min. away from all local attractions, many stunning and quiet or crowed beaches, snorkeling, diving, groceries, banks, restaurants, including the amazing 'La Fogata' pizzeria'. One hour drive south from Manuel Antonio. Our village of Uvita is much more quaint without the hustle and bustle, but with all the amenities, and attractions. We do recommend if in the budget to rent a car while exploring the south of CR. The new highway is one of the best in the country running from Manuel Antonio to Panama.
