The SpaceImagine having the best of both worlds on your next Oregon outing…in the heart of Oregon’s wine country—so peaceful and away from it all, yet only fifteen minutes from Eugene! Our forest sanctuary cottage is nestled on 40 acres of woodlands and meadows, with over a dozen premiere wineries nearby, (many of them within 10 to 15 minutes) and the city just minutes away. Take a wine tour, check out Eugene’s shops and restaurants or spend the afternoon at Saturday Market, enjoy local hikes with expansive views or a gentle walk alongside the Willamette, rejuvenate yourself at a local day spa, take a drive to the Oregon coast (1.5 hour), or along the scenic McKenzie River (40 minutes), cheer the Ducks at a UO game, revel at the annual Oregon Country Fair (25 minutes), hear world-class concerts at Eugene’s Oregon Bach Festival (mid-June to mid-July) and Hult Performing Arts Center, or bicycle your way along rolling hills and pastures on the area’s most popular cycling route, Lorane Highway. Or simply settle into the quiet beauty and comforts of your own personal sanctuary. Originally built for spiritual retreats, our forest sanctuary cottage has a unique round design that's very spacious with expansive windows, 15-foot ceilings, large circular skylight and lovely bamboo floors. It's beautifully decorated throughout and features a bedroom with king size bed, four double-size futons that convert to beds as needed; a well-equipped kitchenette with fridge, two-burner gas stove, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and electric kettle with complimentary coffee and tea; a living area with TV (local channels in HD), DVD and a Bose music system to plug-in your music player; full bathroom with shower; your own private deck overlooking the forest and two tree swings and a hammock to lounge in. Or even get a massage with local massage therapist, Jacob Camara (visit (URL HIDDEN) - sessions take place in the cottage) for a special relaxing treat! Outside you can explore nature trails throughout our 40 acres of forest and meadows. Watch deer and wild turkeys grazing right outside your window and say hello to the other abundant wildlife that roams the land. Also we're kid and dog-friendly. A $25 fee applies for each dog, which we collect when you arrive. Sorry, no cats. Since we take extra care to clean up really well after guests with dogs, we've never had any issues with anyone with allergies. We hope you’ll choose to stay with us on your next visit to Eugene and the Willamette Valley. Our goal is to do whatever we can to make your stay comfy, peaceful and truly renewing! Interaction with GuestsWe want our guests to have the peace and quiet they deserve, but should you need anything, there's an intercom in the cottage that connects to our house which is just a short walk away. The SpaceThis is your basic cedar-fenced backyard of a very old, two story home. There are lots of trees, bamboo and shrubs that I've planted over the past 25 years and old deck with a couple of even older deck chairs and a small table and even a small goldfish pond. There's single horseshoe pit of a sorts with shoes hanging on the fence. Nothing fancy but it is very close (2 blocks) to the OCF shuttle and a convenience store. This keeps you close to the event without having to live in tent cities in the dust near the fair. As the crow flies, I am less than a mile from the fair. As the fair-goer walks, it might be about a mile and a half. There are two tent camping spaces available. If you need them both you can book the other one in my other listing as well - only two people per tent please. (Yes it says "Extra People - No Charge" on the main page but that's a default I cannot remove from the listing.) If you're traveling by RV and want a place to park it during your stay, I have a listing for that as well. Please note that only Thursday the 9th and Sunday the 12th are at the $39 rate. Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th are at the $49 rate. Guest AccessEach tent space comes with access to the driveway for one passenger vehicle, (no RVs) a side gate and the back yard. The shop and home will not be accessible. There are NO bathroom facilities on site. Although there is grass to set your tent up on, you may still want an air mattress. NOTE: Remember - this is a BYOT - (Bring Your Own Tent) venue. Interaction with GuestsI look forward to meeting new people but understand that everyone has their own comfort level with that. I'm happy to interact as much or as little as you like when I'm around. If I'm home, feel free to knock on my back door anytime day or night. I'm usually up pretty late. And if we can get a good blues jam going, I'll be sure to whip out my Hohner! The NeighborhoodNice, quiet neighborhood and very pleasant to walk around in the evening during the summer months. There are also several excellent wineries within just a few miles to visit if you feel like you want to take a break from the Oregon Country Fair and a couple of neighborhood speak-easies within walking distance. One of them usually has a pretty good band on weekends. Getting AroundThe LTD bus goes right by my house with the LTD OCF shuttle stopping at the convenience store that is 2-1/2 blocks away. The store hours are 6a.m. to 11p.m. I'll have the shuttle schedule available on site along with directions to various points of interest such as the wineries, local bars, etc. Other Things to NoteThere will be a garden hose with a sprayer available for use. And a fire extinguisher and first aid kit at the back door of the house.

The SpaceWe built Innisfree Cottage 6 years ago to replace an old yurt. Every little detail of the cottage was lovingly crafted by our hands and those of our craftsman friends. It was made to be a quiet, peaceful place of reflection and relaxation! It was christened Innisfree after a Yeats poem that is framed on the wall. Guest AccessInnisfree Cottage is located on a 70 acre property, with many walking paths that you're free to roam! The cottage is a self-contained and private apartment just a two minute walk from the main house. The SpaceYour space in the wine country is a 400 sq. ft studio apartment above a separate garage in very rural Eugene. Some have likened it to an Italian Villa. Private staired outside entrance, 1 queen bedroom, 1 queen sofa bed, full size refrig, "box" stove & oven, 1 bathrm. There is a small woodstove for extra heat in the winter, wood provided for you. Views of the valley from private south facing deck. Bistro table for outside dining and 2 comfy chairs for relaxing. Quiet, dark star-filled skies in virtual quiet. Dine with us (must be prearranged) or make your own meals. The living space is one large room with kitchen, dining and relaxation area, also where the sofa bed is located. There is a separate bedroom where the bathroom is located. Large closet space as well. Water is from our well and is very tasty. Fresh eggs available from our organic chickens in the late Spring and Summer. Just 1.5 miles down the road are two wineries - Silvan Ridge & Sweet Cheeks. A few miles further is the acclaimed King Estates. It's about a 25 minute drive to almost anywhere in Eugene. We can arrange and recommend dining locations for you. If it's quiet you are seeking, you will find it here - a great place to unplug. You may just find yourself sleeping, relaxing, walking, reading, and never missing the outside world! Guest AccessYou have access to the entire apartment and the trails, labyrinth, prayer wheels and center court area where you can also play Bocce Ball. Relax in the shady spot under the big oak - the coolest spot to be in times of hot weather. Interaction with GuestsOne of us will be available for the majority of time you are here. Feel free to knock on the door so we might get your needs met. The NeighborhoodThere is an upscale neighborhood "above" us and we live in a very private space down the hill from our neighbors. So, when you come here, you drive through this neighborhood, then you "drop down " over the hill to your own private universe. Getting AroundWe are several miles from public transportation in a very rural environment. You will definite need your own vehicle. Also, cell phone coverage is very spotty, Verizon having the best signal. Other Things to NoteIf you are afraid of the dark and almost absolute quiet, please reconsider staying here. Of course, we have indoor and outdoor lighting, but request it be turned off as you turn in for the night! Also, our well, though consistent, has a very low flow rate. As a result, we request you monitor your water usage - as in short showers, not letting the water run while brushing your teeth - a myriad of ways to be conservative. Thank you very much!
