Off street parking. "This cottage is like staying in an apartment therapy photoshoot. It is obvious how much love and attention to detail Jamie has poured into making this retreat unforgettable. We flew into LA with a few days to decompress before a slew of family holiday visits - and this cottage did just that. Enjoyed restful sleep, quiet evenings, and access to beach town Ventura as well as LA in under an hour. The cottage is perfect for two and even has it's own patio area (perfect for AM coffee and reading) and private entrance. We didn't want to leave. The SpaceAwaiting you is a real Ventura Adventure--enjoy the beach and our seaside community full of artists, local events and activities, or... simply relax and do nothing! 2 night minimum or stay a lil longer in a comfy 1955 Jewel Travel Trailer! Choose your location! Fall asleep to the sound of ocean waves (in Ventura) or the sound of owls in the nest of Ojai! All the comforts of home in the great outdoors! Memory Foam Mattress, Big Vintage Cooler, Fire wood included! Add-ons include bikes, boogie boards, thai massage, yoga, meditation, firebuilding skills, I'll even cook for you over a fire! Leave feeling re-juvenated by simple living! We just added a nice dome tent for two (so you can expand your party) with another memory foam mattress! Ventura Beach campgrounds are close to the Amtrak station and I'm happy to shuttle you to and fro. We are also right on the beach bike trail in most of our beachside locations, and Ventura makes a great rest-spot (close to town for any amenities/quick trip to the thrift for things you may need for your trip!) Please Note! It seems camping is VERY popular these days! This summer is off to a very busy start... I highly recommend inquiring about WEEKDAY stays as the weekends are not only impossible to guarantee but it's also a LOT more tranquil when weekenders, families with little ones on scooters in the parking lot, and RV's on top of each other-- it's a bit less, CHILL. Holiday weekends are VERY competitive but if you book and stay at least two days before the holiday, we can more than likely get you a seaside campsite! Here are a few of our favorite spots (one is in Malibu, the other Carpenteria!) Check out the websites for more info or ask for a suggestion! Faria Beach Campground: I love this spot because it has hot showers and an amazing campground cafe! They make great coffee and fresh baked treats! (website hidden) $34 campground fee. Hobson Beach: Another beach campground with hot showers and amazing Burritos made to order! If you pre-pay for your Burrito A.D. will bring it to your campsite! $34 camping fee. Reservations possible during low season/winter. Emma Wood Campground: This one I love because I can really get into primitive camping (mind you, while enjoying my creature comforts.) During most of the year, you will have lots and lots of campsites empty! That means more peace and privacy! $40 camping fee here. (website hidden) Point Mugu:This one is just outside of Ventura County in Malibu and you will step right out of the trailer and onto the sand! It's along PCH so it's a great stop off as you head north or south! and (website hidden) Everyone loves Ojai ... Lake Casitas has wildlife as well as a lot of fun things to do... like a water park in the summer! You can also rent a boat on the lake... soooo peaceful! (URL HIDDEN) hidden)/casitas/casitas_camping.html Please note: Campsites run between $27-$48 above the trailer rental fee. (the higher price is if you would like electrical hook-ups for more light at night and if you want to perhaps make margaritas in a blender! : ) If you are interested in staying, please enquire about special offers for longer stays! I'm happy to give you a tour of Ventura, the arts scene and our beautiful neighboring town of Ojai! I usually take my cue from the guests themselves. I am comfortable setting it up and not meeting/greeting, but I am also quite happy to share details, stories, cook you a meal over the fire, or teach you! (for a bit 'o extra cash, when I can!)-- I'll help you find your way, both at the campground, in town and beyond! Explore our lovely bike trail with me and we will be fast friends! If you have bikes, it is a few miles ride back to town for an array of restaurants, thriftstores, and galleries, etc. If you'd like to rent bikes from me, just let me know! “Welcome Home!” (your little home by the sea, that is!) Here are some-- details, details…to make your stay easy peasy... Finding stuff…Go ahead and look around --you will probably find what you need. Feel free to use anything--i.e. towels, sunscreen, hats, costumes : ) Kitchen: Stovetop: If you’d like to use the stovetop, you will find the propane tanks on the trailer. Turn BOTH knobs on, and please do remember to close the valves after cooking! Your nose, knows-- if you leave it on, you will smell it! Please be ultra aware of this important tip! You will see that 2 out of the 3 burners work! • There is a fire extinguisher, but let’s hope to never have to use it! • *Please don’t burn candles inside..… it’s just too risky. Dishes: Please leave your dishes in the plastic bin or bucket outside. If you are feeling really energetic, you could put water in the bucket but don’t feel you have to do the dirty work--(you are on vacation!) Lighting/Electrical: You will find that we run the electricity from a battery. The light above the dining area is the go-to light as it’s always connected. You can also connect the inverter to the battery (positive to positive/negative to negative) so you can charge cell phones and plug in string lights, ipods, speakers, etc. Towels/bedding: Feel free to use towels. Please aim to leave as much sand on the beach as possible, but of course, there will always be sand! Beds are most comfy without sand in the sheets, so do wipe your feet before diving into the covers! You will be glad you did! Extra blankets in the closet! Funstuff! There are art suppliesbooks, costumes and and other fun stuff in cabinets and inside the little non-working sink . Also, some costumes, instruments and other relics to unleash your inner child! As we say in Circus Yoga, “Now Must Play!” Guest AccessI'm happy to give you a tour of Ventura, the arts scene and our beautiful neighboring town of Ojai! The SpaceA crisp, calm and comfortable dwelling in what is known as "Mid Town" Ventura. A lovely community of mid century homes nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the rolling hills of Avocado and Citrus trees. Guests have a PRIVATE ENTRANCE w/keypad lock ( code will be provided on the morning of check in) so no hassle with lost keys! An elderly cat (19 & going strong) - Princess Decadent (DECA) lives at the residence full time and I often stay in the 2nd story suite with her - my husband occasionally visits; we have another residence - however this house has the better kitchen - lol) - . Basically I'm a companion human to a cat - people have companion animals - I'm a companion human. (Smile) Due to the presence of Miss Deca - I am unable to host those traveling with other animals - this is non negotiable, so I respectfully ask that you don't ask to bring your pet(s). My presence and those of my house staff are transparent and minimal/unobtrusive. My long term housekeeper usually will come in to change sheets, provide fresh towels, tidy as your wishes and length of visit determine. My landscaping requires weekly maintenance ( Monday's between 9 - 11). Same nice gentleman for over a decade - this is unfortunately non negotiable - and when you see all the rose bushes and lush landscaping you will understand! Guest are welcome to enjoy their meals ( or set up laptops) at any number of tables, the cozy table in the kitchen, the dining room or several al fresco spots in the yard. Free WI Fi with a fast speed available throughout the house and yard. On the back deck a large gas BBQ is available if you feel like getting your grill on! ( and there is an AWESOME local butcher shop about 3 minutes drive or 9 - 15 min walk) A gorgeous built in conctrete and glass fire pit provide further ambiance to the back deck. A professionally maintained 'softub' hot tub is adjacent to the suites patio and is available for guest use. While secluded the hot tub is not completely private - skinny dipping is at your own discretion! ( although the manufacturer lists this unit as a 4 person model its best for just two adults) Floors are all hardwood or tile for an allergen free environment. Guest AccessBedrooms as described - shared bath between the two bedrooms. All on the lower floor. ( no stairs) If you are guests that each prefer your own bedrooms please book for 3 guests. The living room offers a 70" tv and a classy mix of modern and vintage furnishings, and large dining table to nosh at or set up your laptop while enjoying the calm oasis of of the backyard flora. The large and well equipped modern Chef's kitchen is at your disposal ~ sometimes for that late night meal after a long day of traveling or in the morning before your day of sightseeing or event begins. The basics for cooking are on hand, butter, oils, salts and spices. (yes mayo and ketchup and mustard too!) There are plates and pots and pans and gadgets galore! Laundry facilities available; High Efficiency and require their own brand of fancy detergent which I have available! Interaction with GuestsYour privacy and comfort are tantamount, I enjoy socializing if it suits you and our mutual schedules; I do love to play tour guide! Online here at AirBNB I offer some insights into my favorite places in Ventura - just in case I'm not around to greet you personally - I provide maps and brochures and some fun local travel guides including the "Ghosts of the California Missions". ( do a bit of research on Richard Senate, Ventura for one of his fun tours.) If you are here for an event like a bike or running event please let me know if I can help with logistics - my sister is an ironwoman and I am great at 'support staff'. Mid Town provides a unique opportunity to sample all the best Ventura offers. 2-5 minutes to a bevy of beaches, yet not a lot of sand in your shoes; Quiet Calm but the nightlife of Main Street and environs beckon! Dining options galore, farmers markets Wed, Sat & Sunday should you be temped to 'eat like a local' . Around the corner from the house you will discover a fantastic park, dog friendly and with a great children's playground. A stroll ( or run) through this neighborhood provides not only great exercise but a fun glimpse into the 'small town beach lifestyle' that Venturians enjoy. Some guests arrive by bicycle, others by train (often I can meet you at the station) most by car, the location is extremely freeway friendly. There are local buses and a free trolley that shuttles between the historical downtown area and the beaches. !!!! PLEASE BOOK FOR THE ACTUAL AMOUNT OF PERSONS IN YOUR PARTY. I don't wish to financially discriminate against the quite business traveler who basically needs a nice place to sleep, or the couple that wishes to use the private entrance to the guest rooms and not be disturbed. If your a party of four persons and are going to be taking over the entire house thats great! i just ask that you pay for the privilege. Water has become a luxury here in Southern California and thus by charging per guest I can better accommodate a wider range of guests. SMILE! If you have no prior airbnb reviews be prepared for a few Q & A messages before I accept your booking - I know, I know - someone has to host you to get that first review - and often I'm willing to help. You can stop into a local brewery or winery or even shuck oysters right down by the beach just a seven minute walk away if that is your fancy. *We appreciate you staying with us for a longer period so if you stay for 4 weeks or longer we will waive the cleaning fee!!** The longer you stay the lower the rate:)) *Please note that beginning in June we will only be renting the studio on a monthly basis. However, where you see gaps on the calendar feel free to send an inquiry for those dates. The property is being remodeled so please excuse our dust and possible construction. While we are cognizant of you being on vacation & try our best to do any construction while you are not on property, that is not always possible. However, we do need to complete this project that was supposed to be done many months ago:( If you have ever worked on a remodel you know that there are not exactly timelines that are met as the unexpected happens. Thank you. Kitchen Includes all items of a full kitchen; stove, oven, microwave, toaster, fridge, dishes, pans. All items necessary for cooking, including oil, salt & pepper. Also a coffee pot (including coffee, cream, sugar, tea). I also will provide you with some breakfast items such as pancake mix, fruit, milk, juice, eggs, bagels to make your stay a great one! There are also some stools if you choose to dine in. Living Area-Includes a Queen bed with quality linens & pillows. A TV with Directv and the platform swivels so you can also watch while on your couch. To get to know Ventura I've placed local papers, maps, and travel brochures at your fingertips. You can also give me an idea of what you would like to do and I'm happy to give suggestions in advance:) There is also a heater, ceiling fan, and full length mirror. Check out my Guidebook for some great local recommendations. Restroom The basics-Shower, Toilet, & Sink area. Providing towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, hair dryer...and of course toilet paper:) Outside Space The property is gated & safe and you need a code to enter. The cottage is above the garage with its own separate entrance (guests & property owners use the same main entrance). Your private outside space has chairs & a table to enjoy the weather. Please note the city quiet hours from 10pm-8am. The main house & neighbors are affected by loud talking while outside. Thank you for being cognizant. Parking Plenty of parking very close to house There is no smoking on the balcony or anywhere in/out of the property. Storage There is a dresser & a nightstand with drawers where your items can be placed. Along with a closet & hangers for your clothes. My Mother and Stepfather live there. You will both use the same front entrance. However, there is a separate and private entrance upstairs to the cottage. Upon booking you will receive the security code to gain access and directions to the apartment key. On this note, while the studio is your private space, the property is shared. The entrance to the studio and the house are only about 10 feet away. Therefore, any noise while outside can be heard in the main house. And while we love to share our space with you we are not on vacation:) So if your stay includes a lot of comings & goings at all hours of the night this may not be the best fit. Trust me when I say we want you to enjoy Ventura, we are just asking for each of our guests to be respectful of the shared space:) The NeighborhoodMy favorite part of the property is the smell of the ocean and waking up and looking out at Mother Nature and knowing that life is short and that we need to make each day count! Ventura has so many options for the very active and for those that just want to relax. The property is located up on a hill; which is why you have such great views. Amtrak runs behind the property & the freeway runs parallel in front down the hill. If you are very sensitive to noise this may affect you; however for most it does not and just take in the fresh ocean air & the location. My dog Phoebe does hang out in the main house often and you may come in contact with her in the shared space. She is a black lab and is very friendly:) She is typically inside yet may be outside. We are happy to introduce her to you so you are not caught off guard by her greeting you when you enter the property. Getting AroundVentura is conveniently located near the Santa Barbara & Los Angeles Airport. You can also take the Amtrak and the stop is a mile away. If you are driving up the beautiful coast it is right off the 101 freeway & parking is available on the street. There's a local free trolley which stops at the nearby Pier and goes to various areas of interest between the Ventura Harbor and Historic Downtown to many shops and restaurants. There is also a welcome center in downtown that can provide you with highlights of Ventura, whale watching tours, wineries, missions, there is so much to do! Downtown is walkable or you can bike~it's about 1.5 miles from the cottage. Or you can Uber (use my code on back of wifi card for $20 credit) or we may be able to drop you off too, just ask. Other Things to NoteWe have beach towels, bikes, boogy boards, so you can enjoy your day at the beach! Don't forget your sunscreen! Even though I have been in hospitality for many years this is my first time in this type of venture. So I am trying my best to provide to you a local yet luxury experience. I would appreciate you letting me know what else I should add or fix before you post it in a review. I truly do want your experience to be unforgettable!
