The SpaceSpend Christmas in a lovely setting. I'll be traveling and so my entire home is available from Dec 19 - Jan 3/4. Maximum of 5 people. Room for one couple and 3 singles. Located 24 miles outside of St. George, Utah this lovely log home sits adjacent the Santa Clara River. Quiet, dark at night and deeply serene this is a great place to live. And I do. I live here full time, but my kids are grown and so I have two spare bedrooms that I can rent. My son's room has a single bed and my daughter's room has a bunk bed, so I can accommodate up to three people if I'm present, 5 people if I'm not. The children's room each have a desk. The house is equipped with wireless internet and a separate bath for guests. Located down a gravel road it's hard to believe this private location even exists in the Utah desert. I'm just up the road (Hwy 18) from Red Cliffs National Conservation Area and a bit more than an hour west of Zion National Park. Pine Valley Mountain is just up the road. I travel frequently so availability is spotty and if I don't respond to your query it's because I'm wandering myself. This is my private home which I live in so I'll require a deposit of 50% to hold the space and references since I will not be present during this period.

The SpaceThe bedroom has a queen size bed, large closet, and an antique chest of drawers with mirror. The bathroom has a tub and shower. Guest AccessThe bedroom is right off the living room and front porch, so the living room will be accessable for guests. There access to a large front porch with seating as well as a large lawn and back patio which is very pleasant during the spring, summer and fall. Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to interact with you as much as you would like, or give you as much privacy as you desire. The NeighborhoodEnterprise is a small friendly farming community. The Hunt House is the oldest house in town with a spacious and beautiful yard. The front porch is a pleasant place to watch farmers, cattle ranchers, deer hunters, and fishermen pass by on the road to their pursuits, or to simply relax with a good book. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation. There are numerous dirt roads in the hills around the perimeter of the town; however, it is not advisable to use these roads during or after bad weather. If you choose to go to the back country, it is advisable that you inform someone where you intend to go and when you will return. Other Things to NoteThe small farming community of Enterprise is 45 miles west of Cedar City and 38 miles northwest of St George. The elevation is 5,318 feet above sea level, 2,458 feet higher than St George, and temperatures are much cooler as a result. The climate is more like Cedar City or Salt Lake City than St George; colder in the winter and much cooler and more pleasant than St George in the summertime.

The SpaceIt's difficult to know how to describe it when you find a space/location that simply has a great "energy" and feeling, but you know this immediately upon entering our house. Previous owners built it custom with great care in the details and a love and respect for the gorgeous high desert surround, which you experience through its large windows. The house is extremely well insulated and that, along with the fact that we are about 12 miles north from St George, result in a 10 degree cooler difference during the hot months. Even the drive from St. George to the house is quite spectacular, and it doesn't hurt any that it is on a low use highway on which you clip along at 65 mph! Lastly: my penchant for design and details will, hopefully, delight your senses! I believe in surrounding myself with beautiful hand-made objects, made by regional artists, and for this reason I decorated with as much original art as I could. No generic hotel type prints here :-) Guest AccessYou will have access to the entire house as well as use of the garage. Interaction with GuestsI'm your cyber-host, but will appreciate and enjoy the opportunity to connect with you as often as you'd like to before and during your stay! I have a great team supporting me near the house, so if you need something "special", just let me know and we'll do our very best to accommodate you. The NeighborhoodThe house is sited on one acre in such a manner that you can barely tell you even have neighbors. You certainly can't see them from the house or yard. It's a quiet and peaceful neighborhood, with one and five acre lots and quite a few horses. Other, wilder life, is very present: deer and rabbits in especially large numbers. Getting AroundA few cars can park with ease in either/both garage and property and street parking, if needed, is available. You will certainly need a car; but if you need to get gas or general store type goods, you need not drive to St George. About 3 miles north is Veyo, a tiny town that has a gas station and a "Family Dollar" store which is like an inexpensive general store with a broad range of goods (not groceries.) Do check out Veyo Pies, which is a VERY popular place for fruit and cream pies and also known for their beef brisket and pulled pork sandwiches! Other Things to NoteYour breakfast: if you choose to enjoy it, is supplies for a delicious oatmeal deal: oats, brown sugar and raisins. Additionally, there is a Keurig coffee machine, a couple of types of coffee pods, a filter made to use with this Keurig if you bring/buy your own ground coffee, and an assortment of tea bags.

5 BR 3BA Ideal base for your outbound adventures: hike, bike, horses & more! You’re driving for about 15 minutes away from St. George, on what feels like a private or secret highway, as one exquisite panorama after another unfolds before you. Soon you arrive to your private, beautiful, rural and luxurious abode in the desert. Welcome to your nest for the next few days or weeks as you explore amazing southwestern Utah! Outside of St. George exist several valley communities. Its big sky and mountain paradise, and also a stone’s throw from the spectacular Snow Canyon Park. Snow Canyon Park hikes rival those of Zion for color, beauty, flora and fauna. Having this resource a 5 minute drive away is extraordinary. Moreover, if you are a serious hiker, you can walk out of the backyard into the BLM trails right behind the house and set foot to Snow Canyon. Or arrange for either guided horseback riding or trekking with an experienced local. And to make coming home better still, note that the house location is about 10 degrees cooler than St. George proper in the hot months. THE HOUSE: Unquestionably unique (not just a pretty face) with tremendous views from all windows. Unusually private. Built by the previous owners to their exacting and green specifications, you will be instantly transported when you enter the house and feel the open floor plan, see the light filled spaces, hear the peace and quiet and appreciate the original works of art. The house is a true retreat from everyday life. (POOL TO COME IN 2017) Open floor plan – lots of natural light—private, quiet, peaceful- a true retreat from city life. Neighbors are actually fairly close, but you can’t see or hear them while on the property because of the intelligent placement of the house on the one acre lot. Geothermal heating and air conditioning makes for continued quiet even when using heat and A/C. You will experience the great care which has gone into both equipping and decorating house, utilizing high quality materials throughout. Lots of gathering spaces—in and out of doors, large and small nooks and reading areas. The house is well suited for 10 guests and 12 if the additional two are children. CONNECTIVITY: WIFI is very good. There is a landline but cellular service is spotty in the valley overall unless you have AT&T (we have a micro-booster – let me know in advance if you have AT&T and I’ll add your phone number to users) OR if you can utilize your phone service via the internet (e.g. T-Mobile.) THE LIVING ROOM is furnished with two comfortable full size sofas and additional seating for singles, a 55” Smart TV set and sound bar to stream your movies, shows and music. THE KITCHEN: Some people refer to a well-designed kitchen as a “chef’s kitchen.” In this case it’s true! The previous owners are the owners of the best restaurant in town: a farm to table gourmet experience. Kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and even light baking. The coffee maker is a Keurig and some coffee is provided in addition to enough oatmeal, raisins and brown sugar to get you through at least a couple of breakfasts. THE DINING ROOM Seats ten with ease. THE BEDROOMS: Two Master suites. In the larger of the two, upstairs with 5 piece bath, you'll enjoy 360 degree views of surrounding desert and mountains. The second Master is more private, with a smaller bathroom. It's through this second Master that you can access a children's loft (or reading space or "what you will") which also has a surround view. Master 1: King mattress and large attached bath with Jacuzzi tub. Master 2: King mattress and attached bath (no tub) in a Casita attached to house. Bedroom 3: Queen mattress (a Tempurapedic) Bedroom 4: Queen mattress Bedroom 5 is an office/bedroom with a high quality Queen sofa bed/ & Children's Loft: accessed via stairs in Master 2, contains 2 Twin mattresses ALL enjoy: -100% Egyptian or Pima cotton sheets—the best!--and comforters are from the excellent Cuddledown. - Pillows in bedrooms are varied from soft to firm so “shop” for your best fit. - Nightstand(s) with lamp(s) - Dresser - Mirror -Clock with USB port and Bluetooth music player THE OFFICE is equipped with a desk, comfortable office chair and a wireless printer and paper for any business need that arises. It is also the 5th bedroom as the comfy leather sofa will convert into a Queen size bed. THE PATIO has very comfortable seating: two love seats and two chairs and three ottomans. THE YARD is a large and grassy field for games and more! A young child’s jungle gym will help entertain the little ones. POOL: Coming in 2017!

The SpaceYou will love this beautiful southern Utah retreat. Nestled in front of a secluded ridge where eagles soar and deer roam, our view looks out over our horse ranch and magnificent view of the valley. The sunsets are breathtaking. A hiker's paradise minutes from both Snow Canyon State Park (which rivals Zion in its beauty), and beautiful Pine Valley, you are still just 15 minutes from historic St. George with its restaurants, shopping, theaters, museums, Indian petroglyphs, and ongoing seasonal events, (St. George marathon, ironman, senior games) numerous golf courses, -- a favorite nest for snowbirds. Bring your horses and we'll show you the most beautiful riding in Utah! An easy drive to Zion and Bryce National Parks, Lake Powell, and Brian's Head ski resort, and just 2 hours from Las Vegas (if things become a bit TOO quiet for you!) You will love our hot tub under the stars, fabulous stone/wood burning fireplace, large ranch-style great room and fully equipped kitchen, with high wood beam ceilings and hardwood floors. There is a large dining table plus bar w/ stools, 3 large comfortable couches, chairs looking out view windows, a large love sac, Wifi, TV/DVR/stereo, 3 bedrooms, plus a casita over the garage, with mini kitchen, full bath, TV/DVR, 2 queens (one is a sofa bed), bunks, plus ample additional sleeping pads which can be used in any of the rooms, 2 cots, 2 pack n play cribs, bedding/towels, cupboards full of family games, tons of toys and puzzles for the kids, a treadmill, and patio with a view. We have horses (that may or may not be on the property during your stay), chickens (fresh eggs for your breakfast), and 2 friendly goats. PLEASE CONTACT US ABOUT AVAILABILITY FIRST SO WE CAN MAKE SURE OUR HOME IS FREE DURING THE DATES YOU WOULD LIKE TO STAY. Prior approval necessary if you would like to bring horses or a dog. Guest AccessBeds and extra pads and bedding should you have extra guests, towels, washer, dryer, basic kitchen appliances, (coffee maker, blender, toaster, etc) dishes, cooking basics, large dining table, fireplace and firewood, outside gas BBQ, fire pit, hot tub, horse shoes, small fishing boat if you have a trailer hitch. (Small lake W trout up the road). We have full RV hookup for a small additional fee to cover extra utilities used. If you want to bring your own horses, we have space to accommodate them if you make prior arrangements with us. Interaction with GuestsWe can be there to greet you and give you a tour of the property and instructions, or if we communicate adequately, we can just leave a key. We will be available by phone or text for questions. Someone will be at the barn twice a day to check on and feed horses/goats/chickens, but will not disturb your privacy. If you are visiting from afar and would like us to take you on a tour of the area or to some local sights, we can certainly make those arrangements with you. If you make arrangements and for a small extra cost we can take you to some great horseback riding or hiking areas. We want this to be a relaxing, fun and memorable visit to our area! The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is very quiet. Our neighbors respect the night sky policy of keeping outside lights low or off in the evening. Neighbors are very nice (as long as you observe the speed limit!) Open land surrounds us for hiking or walks. We are close to Bonnie Springs road which is great for ATVs and goes up into the hills. 5 min up hwy 18 from our turnoff is the small town of Veyo, which has gas, groceries, 2 small restaurants, a Family Dollar Store, the famous Veyo Pie store, and even a roller rink which can be leased out! There is also a natural hot spring fed swimming pool up the road with great snack bar, camp area, stream for fishing for crawdads (kids love it). The pool is emptied and refilled each night and water is crystal clean without chemicals. The pool of course is seasonal, open in the summer. In the winter, there is often snow to play in just up the road (if there isn't any at our house). There is a fun sledding hill. (Pending weather conditions of course) We are just on the snow line, so when there is snow, there is just enough to enjoy, but not enough to hinder travel back or forth into town. Getting AroundThere is a shuttle that runs from Bluff Street in St George to Las Vegas airport or SLC. We recommend you rent a car. There is no public transportation from St George to Dammeron Valley (17 miles) Other Things to NoteWe will leave a notebook of instructions for the house and property and suggestions and brochures about activities, restaurants, attractions, etc. in the area.
