This home will WOW even the most discerning guests. It is situated on Auckland's most elevated, picturesque and exclusive non-exit street, perched in the world's only urban rainforest. The property boasts breath taking, helicopter views over Auckland's Harbour Bridge, Viaduct Harbour, Sky Tower, Manukau Harbour, Rangitoto Island and right through to the Coromandel Peninsula. And at night you'll be captivated by the twinkling lights of Auckland City right in your feet. Discover the sound of silence - interrupted only by the flapping of a hawk's wings. Detox your lungs with 100% pure New Zealand rainforest air. Wash your body with pure, freshly caught rain water. Venture out in the unbeaten tracks of our own piece of the Waitakere Ranges' rainforest, which is a National Park. Take a front seat at Mother Nature's ever changing weather show from the cosy and warm (with a powerful heat pump in winter / air conditioner in summer) comfort of your own 'private VIP booth'. Be one of the first people in the world to witness the new day break. And if you get your timing right, you might actually experience the crisp feeling of walking through the clouds. And your sensory stimulation continues once you go inside the home. Have you ever shared the sheets with a roaring tiger (I'm talking about the striking, 100% cotton duvet / doona cover - see picture) in a massive, round, red leather, king size bed that could get Hugh Hefner jealous? Well. Here's your chance to tick that box off your things to do list. Transport yourself to the future in your very own round shower with a round rain shower head (with real rain water coming out of it!) and numerous spray heads, led - disco lights and in-built speakers and numerous radio stations to satisfy even the most dedicated kareoke singers. Keep up to date with all your favourite cable shows on the big-screen TV with surround sound - movies and sport channels are provided at request and cost extra. Surf the net using inhouse broadband wireless internet. Unleash the hidden chef in you in your own black granite top kitchen - with all cooking equipment supplied... or simply walk down to the restaurant & bar at the end of the street with just as fabulous views of the city and a fire place during winter! Activities to do within half an hour from the property. * golf / tennis, * shopping & outlet stores, * beauty spas, * wineries & wine tasting, * photography, * restaurants, * natural thermal spas, * indoor skiing & snowboarding, * rainforest trecking, * macadamia farm visits, * award cheese tasting, * harbour cruises, * fishing tours, * bungy jumping, * live music venues, * surfing, * underwater world visits, * museum visits, * strawberry picking (when in season), * farmers markets, * hot air balloon rides . Most of our guests hire a car. But some take the Airbus from the Airport to Auckland City - which is approx USD$25 per person and takes about 40 min and you get to see a bit of Auckland on the way. And then they take the train from Auckland City to Sunnyvale - takes approx 40 min and costs about USD$7 per person. And then we can pick you up for free from the train station, which is 10min away from our property. By car - we are about 12 min away from the iconic black sand surf beaches; 40 min away from downtown Auckland and approx 50 min away from the Auckland Airport. Here's just one of our testimonials: "Certainly lives up to the name million dollar views - amazing. Really nice place to spend the weekend, very private and peaceful. Montana Wine trail walk was great, as was Elevation resturant at end of road and Toby's in Titirangi. We would highly recommend others to stay here..." The SpaceThis house has real character. The house was build in the 1950s as a holiday home. It has large picture windows overlooking the bush and harbour, and original features such as its retro 1960s kitchen. The guest room has been newly decorated as have the other common areas. I have a passion for mid-century furniture and have enjoyed decorating my home in keeping with its era where I can. The room itself is the largest in the house with a wardrobe, double bed, dressing table and desk. There is free use of Wi-fi. The home is shared with myself and my two year old daughter. I work part-time, so we are home for some of the time during the week. Ours is a family friendly home and although the room is listed as suitable for two it is a large space and we welcome guests traveling with a child. In this case I can provide a cot/mattress. Guest AccessGuests have access to all common areas of my home - the kitchen and dining room, living room and garden. I have chickens and a vegetable garden, and you are welcome to help yourself to eggs and whatever I have growing at the time. We have a deck from which to enjoy your meal or the beautiful views and an outdoor dining area to the front of the house as well. Interaction with GuestsInteraction can depend on my work schedule and how much you want to chat, get recommendations or be shown around or whether you prefer to be independent and keep to yourselves and just enjoy the retreat vibe. I love west Auckland and have lived here for a number of years, so I enjoy sharing info on the local area. The NeighborhoodThis is a very special neighborhood. In terms of living in a big city, this is as much of an antidote to city life as you can get. I still find it amazing that I can wake up here and be in the city in less than 30 minutes. There are bush walks just five minutes from our front door. Laingholm has a its own beach (25 mins walk from myhome) and many bush walks. 8 mins away is a lovely arty, creative community with several cafes, a new art gallery, markets on the first Sunday of each month, local beaches and bush walks. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop one minutes walk away from our home, or if I have time I can drop you at the train station 10 minutes drive away or into the city if it combines with my work schedule. The bus is not that frequent and you have to change buses to get to the city from here. Some of the west coast beaches are not served by public transport. If it's more than a few days you'll really benefit from a car. If you have a car you can park it for free in the street. Other Things to Note * I can provide breakfast or dinners for a fee if requested or you can simply have full use of the kitchen. Basics such as milk and fruit, a selection of teas, plunger coffee and cooking oil are provided. * Laundry facilities are available. * It's possibly best for those who have a car although we do have a bus at the end of the road and I can drop you at the train station. * Unless we are away which I will advise in initial communication, you will be sharing the house with me and my daughter. If we are away during your stay I will ask you to feed the chickens and in return you can enjoy their lovely fresh eggs. Other Things to NoteThis is a very special neighborhood. The SpaceI've just separated from my partner - I'm still going to the Prana Festival in Coromandel, and now I need someone to feed my cat (Frodo) and help my stricken financial life! So it's a cheap deal for perhaps a couple who would like a romantic little holiday themselves! The caravan was my daughter's - it will be cleared out and has a single bed in it if you have one extra - a child perhaps? I rent my little space from my friend who has the larger house on the forested property. It's a 'retreat centre' in the making - think vegan, yoga, etc....I'd like Beatrice to meet you so she's comfortable allowing me to have you as 'guests' while she's living close by too. I'm leaving on the 27th and would need to meet you before then or in the morning at least - you could even stay before the 27th (I'll sleep in the cottage on a mattress if that helps). Guest AccessMake a fire outside, take a walk in the large park (with an underused tennis court - I have two rackets) and down to the beach. Interaction with GuestsI'd need to meet you at the beginning of your stay. The NeighborhoodThe cottage is one property away from Armour Bay - a beautiful park (with tennis court) and secluded tidal beach, with a bush track down to a stream and around the clifftop bush a little too. Check out local swimming beaches (Cornwallis is 3 kms away) and bush walks (e.g. Karamatua river just past Huia). Have a retreat and chill out... Getting AroundClosest bus stop is about a 4 km walk past the dam. Other Things to NoteMy place is very modest - simple furnishings etc. I'll have put my personal stuff in storage in a caravan awning on the side of the house.

It is likely I will be out of Auckland during your visit and I aim to orgnaise a local friend to check you in and be on hand in an emergency. The NeighborhoodLainghom is a very special place, and we are in the best spot! This is a very special neighborhood. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop one minutes walk away from our home. The bus is not that frequent and you have to change buses to get to the city from here. Some of the west coast beaches are not served by public transport. If it's more than a few days you'll really benefit from a car. If you have a car you can park in our driveway with is gated. Other Things to NoteThe house has been updated slightly since these photos were taken. We now have a freestanding fireplace and I can provide you with firewood if you wish. White ware has been upgraded also. We have an outdoor brazier and a trampoline. The bedrooms available are not shown in the listed photographs, but I will add photos of these shortly.

The SpaceOur space feels like home as soon as you walk in. Entirely built of native tree wood and logs, the house is perfectly suited to it's native forest surroundings - you'll feel super immersed in the Kiwi bush! The mountain top provides unparalleled views over Auckland and it's probably the most peaceful spot you'll find, causing you to constantly forget you're in New Zealand's biggest city! Guest AccessYou're free to roam the house itself but maybe not our bedrooms (the (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)), you know, privacy and stuff. Interaction with GuestsWe're all about helping you have an awesome stay! We often road trip up north and all around Auckland so of course you're welcome to come along! Between us we have heaps of knowledge about Piha, Auckland and wider North Island area and would love to talk over travel plans with you and give you some tips! If you're into communal meals, we often share food between ourselves so if you're willing to buy a few ingredients you're welcome to eat with us too. The NeighborhoodThe Piha/Waiatarua/Titirangi area (we're basically in the middle of them all) is pretty damn wonderful. There's three or more farmers markets in the weekend all super close, we've got numerous beaches only a short drive away and the village centres (especially Titirangi) are adorably kiwi. This mountain forest area really is very unique to Auckland, you get such a quirky, gem-filled sanctuary at only a short drive away from central city! We know you'll love the area. Getting AroundA car is ideal for the area, with parking spots a plenty at the house and lots of incredible sights scattered all around, it really is the best option. But it is possible otherwise... Alternatively, we're happy to do airport transfers and there is a train station about ten minutes away that we could plan to drop you to. Buses run from the villages around the area that we can arrange to help you get to also. Bicycles are great for all this too!
