Cosy and self contained, this is the ideal place to relax after a busy day at one of the magnificent far north beaches or a trip to Cape Reinga. The covered deck offers shelter from the elements as you sip a glass of wine and your steak sizzles beside you on the gas BBQ. Don't be put off by winter - it's not usually cold here anyway but we have loads of firewood to keep you toasty warm and provide ambiance to make your stay super special. It's great fun and very easy to dig up Tuatuas on Ninety Mile Beach. Bring them home and boil them up - delicious with fresh bread and butter and a cold beer. The well equipped kitchen makes meal preparation easy and it's not far to the local restaurants for sit down service or takeaways if that's your preference. A continental breakfast is included in the daily tariff and the large refrigerator allows guests to shop in advance for self catering. Free WiFi is available along with TV, DVD, landline telephone. Ducks and herons visit the pond regularly and a delightful range of birds flit to and fro amongst the trees. Our own trio of ducks provide endless entertainment as they go about their daily business. We have small safe paddocks for visitor’s horses and ample parking for trucks/floats/boats. Rabbits, hares, quail, turkeys and various other small wild creatures will pop up and surprise you every now and then adding to your experience of kiwi rural life. Your pets are welcome too providing they are well behaved and have their own bed. For the frustrated city dweller, longing to get their hands dirty we have a huge bank crying out for green fingers! Please let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy the wonders of Northland - take side trips to Spirits Bay, Te Hapua, Taupotupotu, Parengarenga, Scotts Point, the Bluff. The East coast bays are amazing and the legendary and very dramatic 90 Mile Beach on the west is an absolute must to see. Guest AccessEverything in the cottage is for your use. The SpaceNestled in the hillside of Parengarenga Harbour 4kms down Paua Rd 1.5 hrs north of Kaitaia about 30min to Cape Reinga. Te Kao Store 20min south. Chest freezer for fisho's. All linen supplied. BYO food/clothes. Check In 12+ - check Out 10am. Enjoy. Aa Guests have access to the area immediately surrounding the Bach itself. There is a working oyster farm to the rear and below the Bach. We would ask guests to refrain from removing or interfering with any oysters or equipment therein. Due to work commitments it is regrettably not possible for me to meet with guests in person. While there is cellphone coverage in most places in the area my work takes me to places where there is poor or no coverage at all. I make every endeavour to access my messages later in the day after work and as coverage improves. There is a message bank on my landline and I check Airbnb regularly. The road to the property winds down a picturesque landscape overlooking farm lands across the harbour to dazzling white silica sand and harbour and ocean views. Further north on your way to Cape Reinga turn left at Te Paki Stream and hire a boogie board for some dune boarding on the giant sand dunes. After you've been to the Cape wander back to Tapotupotu Beach for a dip in the crystal clear water or wander along the lovely sandy beach. Stop in at Waitiki Landing further south for an icecream and head to Spirits Bay if you have time and enjoy the seemingly endless sandy and shingle beach. If you don't have time continue south and stop at Te Kao store and I'd challenge you to try to finish one of their giant ice cream cones. If you've booked for a couple of nights there's still time to visit either 90 Mile Beach, Rarawa Beach or Henderson Bay. Grab a beer at NZ's northernmost pub at Houhora or sit down to fish and chips at Pukenui. All this within 40-60 minutes of Mother Jimmys Bach. Try it. You won't be disappointed. A price reduction is offered for 2 nights or more at $100 per night. Just message me to change your booking price to reflect this. Also check out my other local listing The Blue Bungalow. The Little Cottage is a comfortable weatherboard house with polished floors set in amongst palms and succulents. The lounge opens out onto a spacious deck, ideal for evening barbies and relaxing. A short 2 minute walk down the road is Henderson Bay beach. Henderson Bay is a 5km long white sand beach with surf but also rocks and lagoons for families. This makes it an ideal family beach with a little bit of something for everyone. A surperb feature of Henderson Bay is its lack of beachfront houses (this house is the 3rd from the beach) or camping grounds which means accomodation here is pretty hard to get and keeps the beach relatively unpopulated in summer. If fishing is your thing, this place is a paradise. Fish off the rocks/surf or launch your boat at Houhora or nearby Rarawa Beach. Henderson Bay is 50 mins north of Kaitaia and is 20 minutes drive from the Pukenui shops which include a 4 Square shop, Bakery, Café/Takeaway and Liquor Store. Pukenui is also the home of the Houhora Fishing Club Restaurant and Bar. Opposite the store is the Pukenui Wharf, where you can use to put your boat in on the East Coast. There are many places to see in the Far North.. Cape Reinga, Tapotupotu Bay, Spirits Bay or Te Paki Stream famous for its giant sand dunes. It is a kiwi bach and not a motel so please don't expect flash or perfection but it is comfortable and a great place to relax and as hosts we will do our best to make sure you have what you need for your getaway. *Freeview now available.
