The SpaceBreathtaking mountain view in upscale quiet neighborhood on the Windward side of O'ahu island. Avoid the night-long noise of bustling Waikiki and expensive parking for some rest in between daytime adventures in our contemporary style home. Less than 3 miles to beautiful Kailua beach and Lanikai beach, one of the top 10 in the world. Kayaks, surfboards and other water-sport rentals by Kailua beach. 30 - 40 min drive to Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, Hanauma Bay, or upscale and outlet malls. 2 miles to charming downtown Kailua Town with plenty of local shops and local restaurants. (Also a new Target store.) Close to many hiking trails. Includes parking. City buses go everywhere on the island and there are stops at either end of our street. But, we are at the top of a hill, so you might prefer renting a car at the airport or in Kailua. We also have a nice $6 movie theater (4-screens) and a little shopping center 1/2 mile from the house. Also convenient for a beautiful coastal drive up to the famous North Shore. Your end of the upstairs hallway has the Private room and your private bath with tub & shower. The room has a QUEEN size platform bed and full closet. An adjacent room with an inflatable queen size mattress is available for additional $50 / night. Your host’s master bedroom suite is at the other end of the hall, separated by a storage room for extra privacy. Backyard has a large pool and oversize spa on the lanai and an enclosed outdoor shower on the side yard. BBQ and / or eat outside (island style) at the table and chairs on the lanai. Wireless internet works throughout the property. Common areas included are family room with 42" TV with cable, Wii, either Netflix, large living room (small TV) and formal teak dining room with cathedral ceiling, a breakfast room with a view of the mountains, a lanai, 1/2 bath downstairs, and a full kitchen including dishwasher, oven, microwave, toaster oven, large refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker. New washer/dryer in the garage. Completely fenced yard for privacy includes an outdoor clothesline. All rooms have ceiling fans and extra fans are available. There is AC, but hardly ever needed. Your host is a busy professional with 3 friendly indoor cats. Tradewind breezes keep plenty of fresh air flowing in and cat dander out. We are very accommodating. I will be happy to give you pointers and info to help you enjoy your stay. I can also teach you how to pronounce Hawaiian street names and a few words you'll be hearing to get you by. My goal is for you to have a wonderful vacation. Please book at least a few days in advance of your arrival due to delays in communicating across time zones - 6 hours earlier here than Eastern Standard time, 10 hours earlier than Greenwich, England , and ½ a day to much of the rest of the world. Interaction with GuestsThis is your vacation, so up to you whether you want minimal interaction or regular chats to help plan your activities. I sometimes leave early for work and often come home late, but you'll always have my cell phone number. The NeighborhoodThis is an upscale neighborhood, with well maintained properties. Not your typical Oahu neighborhood. Mainlanders feel very comfortable staying here. Very nice, friendly neighbors. Getting AroundThere's good bus service on the island. But, my house is at the top of a hill and the bus stops are at either end. So car is easier. The good news is we're safe from tsunamis up here on the hill. ;^) Other Things to NoteThe house is not childproof, so no infants or toddlers. A second bedroom is available for an additional $50 per night. If you want this, let me know and I will reply with a special offer - it is not rented separately.

The NeighborhoodUpscale, spacious and safe neighborhood. Unlike other vacation rentals in Kailua that are crowded and congested with little parking this estate is spacious with ample parking and a beautiful well-groomed yard that is fenced. There is a permanent rental dwelling on the premises but they have their own private entrance. The walks in the neighborhood offer scenic views and hilly terrain up in the Keolu hillside. Getting AroundWithin a 5 minute walk from the house, guests can catch a city bus. We often recommend guests to get their own rental car to get more out of their vacation since everything to enjoy in Hawaii is scattered throughout the island.

The SpaceOur sweet cottage is fully furnished with everything you need to live comfortably. You are welcome to harvest any of the fresh fruits growing around you (coconut, papaya, apple bananas, lilikoi (passion fruit), avocado), when they are in season! The gorgeous mountain views outside your bedroom window or from your comfortable lawn furniture will amaze you; and the rooster's crow will add to the country charm. Famed Kailua Beach is just 10 minutes away, with beautiful Waimanalo Beach a quick 5 minute drive. You can get to Hanauma Bay in only 20 minutes. In this two bedroom you will find a superior, memory foam queen size bed, and a twin size trundle bed for your convenience (so your room can be a single twin, two twins, or one King!). We also have a pack-n-play (portable crib) available. Guest AccessOur kitchen is fully stocked with a full gas range, refrigerator, microwave, blender, toaster oven, coffee pot, juicer, and all the dishes & cookware you may need (A foodies vacation dream!) Grill up some fresh local fish (sold on the corner of our street twice a week!) on the propane table-top grill. We provide organic olive oil, coconut oil, cooking spray, salt, pepper & coffee to get you going; as well as dish soap, sponges & hand soap. In the bathroom you will find a hair dryer, towels, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash & TP. Enjoy access to our two-man kayak, boogie boards, beach umbrella, plush beach towels, beach chairs, snorkels & masks. If you do not like dogs, please let us know in advance so we can keep them down below. We have farm animals, a garden & aquaponics, you are welcome to visit (upon prior permission). The Country Cottage is right next to another little cottage, home to a wonderful, quiet couple. If you happen to run into them you will know the true meaning of aloha! The NeighborhoodAt the end of our country road (walking distance), is a trailhead to several different hikes, from beginner to advanced. There are interesting nurseries and farms to see along the way. Beautiful Waimanalo Beach is just a 5 minute drive! Getting AroundRenting a car is your best bet for this property, however if you enjoy adventure, the bus line runs at the beginning of street (about 1/2 mile) and can get you where you want to go! Other Things to NoteAfter booking with us you will receive a copy of our rental agreement as well as move-in information and directions. You may notice on our early reviews comments about internet service. We have just installed an entire package with Cable TV, internet, extreme internet & land line telephone to correct this. The cell phone reception will still be spotty, hence the land line :)

Interaction with GuestsYou'll have the house all to yourselves! The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is "local" - not a tourist area. Our neighbors live, work, play and raise their children here. You'll experience children riding their bikes in the street, neighbors grilling on the weekends, and a general feeling of what it means to live in Hawaii. Getting AroundThe bus regularly stops at the end of street (about 1/2 mile). The beach, several restaurants, and breezy agricultural lands are all accessible via bike. We have a Toyota Prius and Dodge truck for rent via Turo, which works similarly to airbnb, except they manage vehicle rentals. Convenient and easy! Other Things to NoteOne very important condition - we are looking for renters who are willing to feed our guppies and water the plants as needed.

The NeighborhoodTake a quick 5 minute ride to Kailua town for immediate access to hip boutique shops and great local cuisine.         Come experience local family living on the island of O'ahu. Our humble neighborhood is nestled at the base of the Koolau Mountains and is 1 mile from Dr. Beach's #1 Beach for 2015, Waimanalo Bay. Our attached studio is a great budget alternative for flexible travelers that includes one uncovered parking stall. Waimanalo is on the east side of the island, known as the "Windward Side." It is conveniently located between world famous Lanikai Beach and Waikiki Beach (about a 30 minute drive to each). Sea Life Park is nearby where guests can swim with dolphins during the day and enjoy a Hawaiian luau in the evening. We are a busy family with toddlers, teenagers, and a Havanese dog so we will enjoy guests who make themselves at home. We live on site and are available for questions and needs. The unit sleeps 2 people and has a queen size bed and a fold out twin size futon that can be laid on the floor. We are baby/kid friendly. Our back yard in against a main highway so you may occasionally get noise. The park adjacent to us is open to the public. It typically gets locked at 7 pm except for parking use during special events at the guest house. We have chickens roaming around our neighborhood too. Quiet hours are between 10 pm - 7 am. The unit has access to an air conditioner which is VERY nice for the humid Hawaiian nights. We ask that it be shut off when the unit is unoccupied. There is a laundry mat half a mile away and the bus stop is very close to our house. If you have further questions please let us know. We look forward to the possibility of having you as our guest.

The house is built 3 feet above ground, helping it avoid tropical critters not welcome in the house. It has louvered windows on all sides to let the cool breezes in and ceiling fans in every room when the summer sun reaches its peak. Comfy couches & recliners. Two bedrooms with queen size Tempurpedic beds, and a futon couch that folds out into a third queen size bed in the sitting room. Guest AccessThere is convenient off-street parking in a private carport (no searching for onstreet parking). You will have run of the house and yard including 2 bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, renovated kitchen with full refrigerator/freezer, gas range and gas stove, sink. Use of pots & pans, plates, bowls, cups, glasses and silverware. Bed and bath linen provided. Access to a washer and dryer. Bathroom features a European style shower integrated in the whole tiled bathroom. Living room features a comfortable couch and chairs. Dining room seats six. Sitting room features 2 couches and 4 recliners. There is a ceiling mounted LCD projector providing wall sized screen projection for Apple TV, giving you access to entertainment if you spend an evening home. You have access to the front and back yards in case you just want to lay or sit out in the beautiful Hawaiian sunshine. You have use of the backyard hot tub (uses a gentle bromine and UV light filtering system that is less harsh than chlorinated tubs). There is wi-fi throughout the house. The house is also equipped with a security system to keep all of your important items safe and secure while you are away from the house. Interaction with GuestsWe live off site, affording you complete privacy. We can be contacted by phone in emergencies. When we are away traveling, our parents, who live on the next block can be contacted and our neighbor acts as our property manager. We provide a binder with a lot of information about Kailua and Oahu and recommendations about beaches, hikes, grocery shopping, dining and great attractions. The NeighborhoodThe house is in a residential neighborhood of houses (not apartments) with young families as well as senior citizens. The neighbors are friendly, know each other and greet one another as they come and go. Nearby is Enchanted Lake Shopping Center with a giant Safeway, Starbucks and a number of local restaurants and shops. A few minutes away is quaint Kailua Town, with a whole range of restaurants and shops in all ranges of price and quality. There is a giant Whole Foods as well as chain grocers and locally owned stores and businesses. Famous Kailua Beach, where U.S. presidents have stayed on their vacations, is just minutes away by car. There are also some hikes (somewhat strenuous) nearby and longer, gentler hikes accessible further away by car. It's only a thirty minute drive across the island to the capital Honolulu, and famous Waikiki if you would like to visit there. Getting AroundMost people travel by car on Oahu. Convenient parking for your rental car is available in a covered carport in our private driveway. It is a short drive to any Kailua attraction. Just down the hill from the house is a bus stop, giving you access to the island-wide bus system. Other Things to NoteThe house is elevated three feet so there are steps to enter and it has steps inside to go down to the sitting room and out the back door. Although it is a short walk to the nearest bus stop and shopping center, we are at the top of a hill.

                Come experience local family living on the island of O'ahu. Our humble neighborhood is nestled at the base of the Koolau Mountains and is 1 mile from Dr. Beach's #1 Beach for 2015, Waimanalo Bay. Our attached studio is a great budget alternative for flexible travelers that includes one uncovered parking stall. Waimanalo is on the east side of the island, known as the "Windward Side." It is conveniently located between world famous Lanikai Beach and Waikiki Beach (about a 30 minute drive to each). Sea Life Park is nearby where guests can swim with dolphins during the day and enjoy a Hawaiian luau in the evening. We are a busy family with toddlers, teenagers, and a Havanese dog so we will enjoy guests who make themselves at home. We live on site and are available for questions and needs. The unit sleeps 2 people and has a queen size bed and a fold out twin size futon that can be laid on the floor. We are baby/kid friendly. Our back yard in against a main highway so you may occasionally get noise. The park adjacent to us is open to the public. It typically gets locked at 7 pm except for parking use during special events at the guest house. We have chickens roaming around our neighborhood too. Quiet hours are between 10 pm - 7 am. The unit has access to an air conditioner which is VERY nice for the humid Hawaiian nights. We ask that it be shut off when the unit is unoccupied. Read this entire listing for other details. Call or text me for questions. Main Points: Please ALWAYS lock house when you are not home. Make sure side gate is latched and closed before leaving the house if you have gone out of the side gate. Please always remove shoes. Be courteous of times, There are other units on the property with long term tenants. Please no yelling, or loud activities past 10pm on week nights and 11pm on weekends. HOT TUB SPA: Do not use the spa before showering with soap and water to remove ALL oils and dirt from skin. Do not wear a swimsuit that has been recently washed with soap as it will get in the hot tub. Wash swimsuits with hot water in one cylce or soak in water with no soap. It is often best to use the hot tub without clothing at all, if you feel comfortable doing so. The hot tub uses natural cleaning agents and not chlorine so this is vital for PH balance and keeping algae and bacteria out of the spa. Please make sure you shut off the bubbles after use. Always keep spa on at a temperature of at least 100*. do not turn completely off and then reheat as this uses more energy. please shut off lights and ac/fans when not home. you may leave screen doors closed and keep sliding doors open for breeze. Feel free to open slated windows for more breeze as well or to air out the home. Parking for the MAIN house is GARAGE, Directely BEHIND garage door (one spot) and anywhere on the street that you can find (not in the col-de-sac). The other tenants on the property occupy other parts of the driveway. Do not take the right or left side of the driveway. NOTICE: If a tenant tells me that a random car was parked in their spot, there will be a $100 fine assessed upon checkout. PLEASE RECYCLE. Break down cardboard, smash up cartons, water bottles, cans. There are plenty of paper bags to use for recycle in the cabinet beneath the wine rack on the counter. Do not throw away trash bags in the trash bin. if the trash bag gets too full, please remove, set in the garage and replace trash bag (under the sink). Of bookings a week or less, I will manage the trash in the bins. If booking a week or more, I will coordinate trash disposal with you upon arrival. Haze the dog: if you are keeping her for your stay, please DO NOT let her get in the pool. She loves to swim but has terrible allergies and sensitivity to the chlorine in the pool. I dont want you to have to feel responsible for washing her and dealing with her getting sick. just always make sure that she stays inside when you are using the pool, or keep her on her harness with you outside so that she cannot jump in the pool. KITCHEN Info: Everything works. Use whatever you need. Please try to wipe down counters of spills and food after every use. This helps maintain cleanliness. Coffee, tea, sugar etc is all there for your use. This is complimentary as well as condiments in the fridge. If there are other things that you would like to use, please be sure to replace them. The Fridge ice dispenser does work but because of the temperature of the air and house, constant thawing and freezing, the ice thing gets jammed and you may just have to open the door and get ice out manually. The water dispenser works fine for fresh filtered cold water. Wine glasses and cocktail glasses are in the mini bar cabinet under where the wine BAR is (under the tree wall decor). You can use dishwasher or wash things by hand. Big couch in TV room pulls out to a full size bed and is very comfy. You will find extra blankets in the cabinet under the main AC unit. There are also board games found here. You will find extra blankets pillows in most of the closets of each room as well. The massage chair is wonderful. HOT TUB SPA: Do not use the spa before showering with soap and water to remove ALL oils and dirt from skin. It is often best to use the hot tub without clothing at all, if you feel comfortable doing so. The hot tub uses natural cleaning agents and not chlorine so this is vital for PH balance and keeping algae and bacteria out of the spa. Please make sure you shut off the bubbles after use. Always keep spa on at a temperature of at least 100*. do not turn completely off and then reheat as this uses more energy. please shut off lights and ac/fans when not home. you may leave screen doors closed and keep sliding doors open for breeze. Feel free to open slated windows for more breeze as well or to air out the home. Parking for the MAIN house is GARAGE, Directely BEHIND garage door (one spot) and anywhere on the street that you can find (not in the col-de-sac). The other tenants on the property occupy other parts of the driveway. Do not take the right or left side of the driveway. NOTICE: If a tenant tells me that a random car was parked in their spot, there will be a $100 fine assessed upon checkout. PLEASE RECYCLE. Break down cardboard, smash up cartons, water bottles, cans. There are plenty of paper bags to use for recycle in the cabinet beneath the wine rack on the counter. Do not throw away trash bags in the trash bin. if the trash bag gets too full, please remove, set in the garage and replace trash bag (under the sink). BEDROOMS/SHOWERS: The three smaller bedrooms share a bathroom. Keep it clean and be courteous of time in there for others to use. There is complimentary body wash, shampoo, conditioner and in the cabinet you may find some extras of things if emergent. Hair dryer is in the drawer under the sink cabinet. Towels for the extra bedrooms are kept in the linen closet. You may do laundry ONCE per every 5 day period. You must supply your own detergent. Please do not use what is there. If you do use what is there, there is a change/tip bin above the washer where you can leave some change and money towards purchasing more detergent if you dont find the time to do so yourself. We go by the honesty rule here. MASTERBEDROOM/SHOWER: Right side of the dresser is for AIRBNB Nightstand closest to the door is also available for use for guests. Left side of the closet is for use for guests. There is an iron and ironing board in the closet here. Hair dryers are under the sink. Towels for this bathroom are in the basket in the shower room. One room boasts a memory foam queen-size bed. The second room is a cozy king that can be converted to two twins upon request. A portable crib is available, as well a little feeding chair. Ceiling fans, lots of windows and cool breezes throughout. The kitchen has everything you could possible need, including organic olive & coconut oils, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, coffee, cooking spray, large & small appliances, and more. The bathroom is stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, a small first aid kit and plenty of fresh towels.                             Need a last minute place to stay on the Windward side of Oahu? I might just have the place for you. Welcome to Kailua, on Oahu, where one of the Conde Naste Top 10 beaches in the world is located. The unit is clean and will include a queen sized bed, mini fridge, small microwave, book shelf, air conditioner, closet space and drawers. There is free parking on the street. WiFi is provided. Full sized washer and dryer are right there in the unit. We have an outside patio you can use eat your meals. There are no cooking facilities inside the unit. This studio has its own private entrance and renovated bathroom. This is an quiet neighborhood for 1-2 mellow people, max. We are located on the windward side of Oahu, where the trade winds originate. We are nestled above Enchanted Lake, Kailua, a 6 min. drive from Kailua beach, 3 miles of the world's most beautiful white sand. We are just 25 minutes from Honolulu and 40 min. to Waikiki. Another 3 minute drive from Kailua Beach will take you to Lanikai beach with a great view of the famous Mokulua Islands (Mokes for short). There is kayaking, boogie boarding, surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing, snorkeling, beach combing at the beach. Regular kayak rentals are on the way to the beach. Disc golf happens the last Saturday or Sunday of most months and there are pick up games on the rest of the weekends. There are 3 regular golf courses nearby. There is a dive shop in town also. The famous big waves of North Shore is just 45 minutes away on a beautiful ocean drive. Hanauma Bay for snorkeling is just 20 min. scenic drive away. Kailua has many restaurants, the Shack for sports, beer and burgers, the Food Company*, Mexican, Saeng's Thai, Assagio's Italian, Baci Bistro, Buzz's Steakhouse, McDonalds, Coldstone Creamery, California Pizza Kitchen. Shops include Macy's, Longs Drugs, walgreens, Bookends (new and used books),Pier 1, Antique stores, Safeway, Boutiques. Whole Foods and Down to Earth (vegetarian health food store). A must is the Kailua open Market on Thursday evenings for great fast food choices and seeing the locals out and about.                             CONSTUCTION SPECIAL February 1, 2017 thru April 15, 2017 During the months of January - April we will be doing construction on our property. We will still be accepting reservations during this time, HOWEVER, there will be additional noise and activity on our property during regular working hours (Monday - Saturday). There will be lumber under our carport, deliveries occurring, and contractors working during the day (e.g. pounding nails, pouring concrete, etc.). You will still have privacy in the unit, BUT keep in mind that the conditions, due to work being done on the property, are less than ideal. This is the reason for the reduced rate. Our humble neighborhood is nestled at the base of the Koolau Mountains and is 1 mile from Dr. Beach's #1 Beach for 2015, Waimanalo Bay. Our attached studio is a great budget alternative for flexible travelers that includes one designated uncovered parking stall. Waimanalo is on the east side of the island, known as the "Windward Side." It is conveniently located between world famous Lanikai Beach and Waikiki Beach (about a 30 minute drive to each). Sea Life Park is nearby where guests can swim with dolphins during the day and enjoy a Hawaiian luau in the evening. We are a busy family with toddlers, teenagers, and a Havanese dog so we will enjoy guests who make themselves at home. We live on site and are available for questions and needs. The unit sleeps 2 people and has a queen size bed and a fold out twin size futon for travelers with a young child or third individual which can be placed on the floor. We are baby/kid friendly. Turn on the AC or the ceiling fans, close the windows, and tune out environmental noise. The park adjacent to us is open to the public. It typically gets locked at 7 pm except for parking use during special events at the community guest house on the weekends. We have chickens roaming around our neighborhood too. Quiet hours are between 10 pm - 7 am. The unit has access to an air conditioner which is VERY nice for the humid Hawaiian nights. There is a laundry mat half a mile away but we do complimentary washing during your stay. The bus stop is very close to our house also. If you have further questions please let us know.
