The SpaceIf you want to enjoy a quiet break in rural Sydney, surrounded by tranquillity, nature and beautiful horse country – The Hilltop Cottage offers all that and more. The totally separate, detached and fully equipped cottage is a dreamy getaway both for Sydneysiders and visitors.
The long driveway leads to a peaceful countryside retreat where you will enjoy privacy with all amenities. You will have your own large lounge with flatscreen TV, books, DVDs, lots of games and more; dining area and fully equipped kitchen; a country style bathroom and separate laundry. There is plenty of undercover parking right next to the cottage. You may also be lucky enough to see the local wildlife, including our regular kangaroos. All easily seen from the large wrap-around balcony, where you can comfortably sit (or loveseat swing!), have breakfast outside and enjoy the natural quiet surroundings.
We strive for the cottage to be as environmentally friendly as possible. During the day, the electricity is provided from our solar panels. When available, we offer sustainable products (i.e., "Earth", "Rainforest Alliance" certified and Fairtrade). We collect rain water and use it for irrigation. The pool is only heated with salt. We do not supply small plastic bottles (such as shampoos) to avoid the extra plastic and offer waste management. And we use the lovely Australian sun to dry up your linen! Guest AccessOur gardens are large and you can go for quiet short walks in the five acres of wooded or grass areas, including a beautiful small pond with a boat and a lovely fishpond. You will also have full access to the adjoining tennis court and the crystal clear large lighted salt-water pool, right outside the doors of the cottage. Our area is rural and there are no neighbours near the premises. We have a small border collie, a rabbit and chickens, which kids can pat and feed, being accompanied by our own kids. There are also a trampoline and swings for children to be enjoyed under supervision. Interaction with GuestsWe are very proud to live in this area and, should you need assistance, we are more than happy to help with information on suggested activities, restaurants and the many sights to see (we have a document already prepared, and you can request in advance). We live at the main house 50 metres away leaving you with all the privacy you need. We are available for your inquiries and needs, in the main house nearby or via intercom. The NeighborhoodStaying at Middle Dural, you are central to the Blue Mountains, the incredible Hawkesbury River region, historic towns like Windsor and Richmond, and of course Sydney and Parramatta, but so much more! Fresh fruits and vegetables, which are grown locally, may be bought at the many roadside stalls, while two local shopping villages, with everything you might need, are only a 5 and 10 minutes drive away. There are lovely cafes and restaurants in the area and a wonderful teahouse at the end of our road. For those who are horse-riding enthusiasts, there are many horse farms in the immediate area for lessons and riding.
We're also perfectly located if you're attending one of the regular Hillsong conferences which is an easy drive away at the Hillsong Convention Centre, Baulkham Hills, NSW. Getting AroundPlease note there is no train station nearby and a car is required to fully enjoy this area. We are about 60 minutes from Sydney Airport; 45 minutes from the CBD; 30 minutes from Parramatta and Macquarie Park and 20 minutes from Hornsby and Castle Hill. These times exclude peak hour traffic. Other Things to NoteThe Hilltop Cottage has one bedroom with a double bed. Both sofas in the living room open up to comfy additional double beds.
