The SpaceThis riverfront property is unique in that it is within walking distance to downtown yet sits in a seemingly remote wilderness setting. Flanked by trees to the North and South, the main view is the river to the West with the golf course on the far side. To gain access into the home, we will communicate this procedure through our email interactions. To allow enough time to prepare the home for renters, check in is 3pm and Check out is 11am. Exceptions can be made ahead of time. During winter, the outdoor furniture is put away, but when the weather is consistently warmer and dry, you may use the outdoor amenities as well. the large deck and multiple flag stone patios make for beautiful spaces to spend a sunny afternoon. I may or may not see you during your stay. I'm often around working on the three rentals I have on Dayton Ave. What don't I love? I lived in this house for 12 years. It's at the very end of a quiet, residential street. It's not unlikely to see deer on the property or a wandering rafter of wild turkeys. We've also viewed beavers and otters in the river. The house is within walking distance to all of downtown including historic sites such as the Smith Hollow School, the Dayton Historic Depot (State's oldest existing train depot) and the Columbia County Courthouse (State's oldest working courthouse). Dayton also has three historic districts (2 residential and 1 commercial. Stop into the Dayton Chamber of Commerce to get a walking map. If it's a nature walk you want, walk up Front Street to Flour Mill Park on Main Street to gain access to the Dike Trail which follows the Touchet River for two miles. You can walk to incredible restaurants such as the Weinhard Cafe, the Manila Bay Cafe on Main Street or the Patit Creek Restaurant also on Dayton Ave (definitely make reservations for the last two). I also recommend having a beer at Chief Springs Brew Pub and ordering the world's best pizza from their restaurant next door. There is a private driveway for parking up to two vehicles and plenty of street parking available. If you want public transit during the day, the Columbia County Transit is very convenient. Seven Porches Guest House in 'hipstoric' Waitsburg is your affordable value-added alternative to rooming in Walla Walla. Located just 25 minutes from downtown Walla Walla and its surrounding wine country, Waitsburg has a gourmet culture all its own with the popular Whoop Em Hollow Cafe, the charming Coppei Coffee Co., the eclectic jimgermanbar, the one-of-a-kind Anchor Bar, the 1950s Betty's Diner, the authentic Monarca Mexican Restaurant - not to mention the Laht Neppur micro brewery. Norman Rockwell couldn't have painted a more American small town. One of the oldest cities in the state, Waitsburg was established in 1865. Its homes and Bruce Mansion museum are steeped in that legacy as a frontier wheat town, while downtown buildings have been restored to offer a unique gourmet and shopping experience. Waitsburg is 40 minutes from the friendly, down home and rarely-any-lines Ski Bluewood resort - a mountain that has the second highest base elevation in the state of Washington. With its original wood interior finish, fir floors and warmly appointed rooms, a stay at the Seven Porches is a trip down Memory Lane with all the modern conveniences. It's a mere block and a half from the restaurants and bars downtown, and the highways (124 and 12) that connect the city to the Tri Cities, Walla Walla, Dayton and Ski Bluewood. Plenty of seasonal outdoor activities such as skiing, biking, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and mountain biking abound with spring, summer and fall festivals to boot. From the large regional car gathering known as All Wheels and the Classic Auto Show to Mule Mania weekend and Pioneer Fall Festival, the events season in the Touchet River Valley has something for everyone. Add regular shindigs and wine events in Walla Walla to that and there's almost always something to do in wheat and wine country. Seven Porches has two large upstairs suites with queen-sized beds. One has a balcony and its own access to one of the upstairs bathrooms. The upstairs also has two smaller bedrooms with double beds and a quiet seating area with a view of the Bruce Mansion. The four upstairs bedrooms share two bathrooms: one with a tile shower and one with a large soaking tub. The two bedrooms downstairs each have queen beds as well, share a private hallway and a bathroom with shower. Linens and towels are provided. The television room off the kitchen has an HD cable set with a comfortable leather couch. WIFI is accessible throughout the house. The dining room table seats 12 and the kitchen is a feast for cooks who enjoy cooking meals on a six-burner Viking stove and oven. During the spring, summer and fall, it's a joy to hang on the large porch that covers two sides of the house and watch local residents walk, drive, bike ride and sometimes horseback ride down the campus-like residential length of Main Street that's the scene of an all-American parade on the third weekend in May. Keywords: This charming historic home at the heart of Waitsburg near Walla Walla wine country is ideal for one-night stays, a weekend or a week. Rent one or more double-occupancy bedrooms or the entire six-bedroom, three-bath house. A single room, double occupancy is $90 per night plus tax. Please contact the owner to make a reservation. The whole house rate ranges from $450 to $550 plus tax for exclusive use of the entire house (two-day minimum).

Three Maples is located on a quiet street – just three blocks from downtown Waitsburg, a historic, pedestrian-friendly town in beautiful wheat farming country. The cozy, welcoming cottage is perfect for two couples, families of four, or simply to indulge you and that special person in a luxurious private nest for two. Completely refurbished, this century-old cottage has two private queen bedroom/bathroom suites, each with a clothing wall, and pillow-top, extra-deep mattresses. One bathroom has an extra-large (rodeo!) shower, the other a beautifully restored and luxurious 1929-vintage clawfoot bathtub with hand shower. Enjoy a fully-equipped kitchen with new appliances, a laundry room, wi-fi and 1/3-acre, fenced and landscaped garden. The cottage features an all-new heat pump system for ultra-quiet heat and cooling. Visitors to wine country will find it especially convenient to return to a quiet, comfy home after a day of tasting, where you may refresh and relax, and then walk to dine at a great southern food restaurant, Bar-b-que, brew pub, family cafe or simply cook up a meal in your own kitchen or grill, with supplies from the nearby farmers' market and fromagerie. Guests receive a complementary bottle of wine – good wine! – for each night of their stay. Summer days in here in the valley are sunny and quite warm. Summer evenings in Waitsburg are glorious, warm and dry. The night sky is filled with stars and there are very few insects. Spring and fall are quite beautiful, with daytime temperatures climbing into the 70s and 80s, and cooler evenings (bring layers!). The cottage is convenient to Walla Walla, yet a world apart, with no traffic (and no traffic lights!). Waitsburg is pedestrian-friendly and authentic. This is small town America at its best – like a trip back in time. Custom wine tasting events and guidance on local wineries and restaurants are available from the owners, who live across the street and are intimately connected with the region's food and wine purveyors. Outdoor recreational activities abound. Bird watching can be done from the comfort of your patio – Waitsburg is on a major migration path for dozens of species. From April through November there are wine events, rodeos, vintage car shows, theatre and music festivals and many other outdoor activities happening throughout the region. The area is a haven for bicycle riding, hiking, photography, painting, antiquing, rafting, skiing, fly fishing, golf and just about any outdoor activity you can name. Waitsburg loves its honored camel, IZZY. Now in a pasture on the West side of town, we'll supply directions and a bag of carrots to take when you go visit Izzie - a kids' favorite and a real sweetheart. You will never meet a gentler camel. Bottom line – we love this place; we live here year-round, and we are absolutely certain you won't want to leave once you've stayed here. Please check the comments that some of our early visitors have left. And don't hesitate to write us with your questions. If we can do anything to make your visit to wine country more enjoyable, we are happy to oblige!
