The SpaceLocated in scenic Waitsfield, Vt, the 1824 House offers lodging for a large group close to attractions and activities. Each of our guest rooms has a private bath. Dogs are permitted in select rooms only, and are not allowed on the second floor.
Guests will have access to the rooms and common areas such as kitchen, dining room and sitting room with fire place. All 14 acres of our outdoor space are available for guest use, including our private swimming hole and the town's best sledding hill. There is an outdoor fire pit for guest use (wood provided). There is an event barn on the property, an additional site fee applies.
When you rent the inn as a private home rental, we will meet you when you arrive, check you in, get you settled and orient you to the inn. Our on-site manager lives in the building and has a shared access, so you may see her while you're here.
Central Vermont, and The Mad River Valley in particular, offers spectacular recreational opportunities in all seasons. Hiking, down-hill and cross country skiing, tourist attractions and foliage 'peeping' are just a few of the options.
Situated directly on scenic Vermont Route 100, The 1824 House is just minutes from both Sugarbush and Mad River Glen Ski areas. The town of Waitsfield itself offers great dining and shopping options. A short drive away are the towns of Waterbury and Stowe. Please inquire with us if you need activity suggestions.

Interaction with GuestsThe 1824 House has a full time innkeeper that lives in an apartment in the main house. During private house rentals, the innkeeper will greet you when you arrive and orient you to the inn. The innkeeper does not offer daily services during house rentals such as room pull-ups or breakfast. If you would like to add these services, please inquire with us. Please call or email if you need directions or route recommendations, Other Things to NoteOur inn is Pet Friendly. Dogs are welcome anywhere on the grounds. Inside the inn, we ask that dogs be kept in the 'west wing' of the inn. There is a half door off the kitchen to keep them contained. Please do not bring your dog into the kitchen, dining room, living room or second floor guest rooms. We do our best to keep these rooms hypoallergenic for our guests. A $100 pet fee applies. Your reservation will be adjusted to reflect this amount.
