ARRIVE A STRANGER LEAVE AS A FRIEND. We offer a home away from home in Wakefield, a 15 minute drive from Richmond and 25 minutes from Nelson City. It is well situated for those who are travelling either north or south and those who want to explore the Nelson region. On arrival you enter a large courtyard with access to a pottery and wood workshop where Bruce will demonstrate how to make a pot on the wheel. Where else can you be offered a chance to make your own pot? My husband and I offer a bed and breakfast facility and rent out two rooms in our own home. The house is secluded in amongst New Zealand's native bush. As we are locals, we deal with our guests directly giving valuable information of the region, and have escorted guests on boat trips to the Abel Tasman National Park. The rooms are; the Wisteria room large Queen slat bed and Totara (double) both named after the trees seen from each room. All of the upstairs of the house is set aside for our guests. The Totara & Wisteria rooms share the main bathroom upstairs with shower and bath. The bathroom has recently/ been upgraded. A deck is accessed off both bedrooms where guest can relax with a glass of wine or beer. Another large wooden deck is on the ground floor where guests can sit and relax and watch the native wood pigeon's and tui's come down to bathe in the water bowl. Come and join Bruce and I in our piece of paradise. Bush Walk is completely private and offers a lovely setting with the native birds flying through the treetops. Watch them up close and see the beautiful creatures bathe in the water bowl. The house is surrounded by New Zealand native bush and borders the Waikari Reserve and Faulkners bush where guests can walk through the different pathways. Climb to the lookout and take in the vista of the surrounding Pigeon Valley, Wakefield Village and out over the Waimea Plains to Tasman Bay and Nelson. The SpaceWillow Bank is my passion and your pleasure – I invite you to enjoy all its amenities during your stay. Stroll along the village street and visit the many different stores and establishments, each one an echo of New Zealand’s past. View the goods in the general store (1930s), haberdashery (1950s), bakery (1960s), china store (1950s), radio + electrical store (1960s). Dress in period costume at Hiddlestone's clothing store and photograph yourself against a period backdrop in the 1930s photographic studio. Relax with your tea or coffee in the Vienna café or among the plants in our green house or living willow bower, perhaps with an historic book from our quaint library. Memories of Arkwright and Granville from "Open All Hours" will return when you enter the grocery store (1960s), or if you are adventurous, try cooking on a 1920s wood stove or washing laundry with a traditional washboard or copper. Enjoy Willow Bank in the evening under original 1930s streetlights and trade up from global roaming to the fun of a traditional working telephone service connecting all the buildings in the village. I hope you will have a great stay. Check Willow Bank Wakefield on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). Christine Grieder
