The NeighborhoodTall Tree Farm is located about half way between Waldoboro & Friendship along the Medomak River. Friendship has a small beach, a working lobster harbor, and stunning ocean views. Waldoboro has some great eateries, galleries, and shops. All the best places to visit in Mid-Coast Maine are only a short drive away: Pemaquid Light, Round Pond, Damariscotta, Thomaston, Rockland, Camden, etc. Getting AroundThis is a rural area between small towns. You will need a vehicle to get around. Other Things to NoteYour responsibly managed pets are welcome in the house, the fenced yard, or on lead on the lawns - but cannot be allowed near the sheep, chickens or the dogs living next door with us. Our dogs do bark at times so take that into consideration if barking bothers you. This is an old farmhouse with the charms and quirks of such. Large groups may need to use well water a bit sparingly.

The SpaceGreat for multiple family gatherings; bedrooms are clustered in three areas, each area with separate bath, so flow works well with lots of bodies. Expansive lawn for variety of outside activities. Swimming in the most beautiful lake in the world (ok, we're biased, but other people use phrases like "sacred space" to describe it...). Guest AccessThe house is fully stocked with kitchen items, spices, linens, towels, beach towels, laundry, gas grill, etc. The whole house/yard go with the rental; any personal things that are off-limits are stored away and clearly marked. Interaction with GuestsWe live about 15 minutes from the property and are available for any questions, issues, etc. but it is not our intention to interact any more than a guest would request. The NeighborhoodWaldoboro is quiet, rural, and has water access in a number of locations, so the coast line is a presence in the area. It's best as a place of respite and peace; to find "action", you can head to one of the tourist villages to the north or south. Getting AroundThere is a Concord bus line that stops in Waldoboro and ends in Boston. It comes through twice a day, around 9:30 am and 1:30 pm.

The SpaceThere are 4 small bedrooms, 3 of which have queens or doubles and a dresser. The 4th room has a twin, no dresser, but the best view in the house of the Medomak River. The back two bedrooms can be closed off from rest of house for more privacy, with their own shared bath, and private back stairway to exterior exit. The whole house (5 bdrms) can also be rented, and we would stay in the barn studio - please ask for more details if interested. Guest AccessWe have a large driveway to park in, and guests share access with us. Guests are welcome to the kitchen and living areas, and morning coffee can be provided upon request. There is also a large pasture on the hill behind house, and many trails up into the woods beyond. Also a bbq and firepit! We also provide metal instruction - inquire if interested! Interaction with GuestsWe will be available most of the time for assistance, as we work from home at our small metal artisan studio in the attached barn (instruction is also an option if interested in learning welding/metalworking! - please ask for more information). The NeighborhoodWaldoboro is a quiet small village off the beaten path of busy Rt. 1 and the more popular tourist towns of Damariscotta, Camden, and Rockland. We love the peacefulness yet the proximity to all that the midcoast area has to offer. There are many beautiful trails, farms, and the gorgeous undeveloped tidal river to explore. The local pub often has live local music and good food, and the quaint Moody's Diner is just around the corner. Getting AroundDriving is the best way to get around, although there is a bus that stops on RT. 1 just at the intersection of our road, and is about a 15 walk. This bus goes up the coast as well as to Portland/Boston. There are taxi services that serve the whole Midcoast area as well. Boston is about 3 hrs, Portland is about an hour drive, Brunswick is about 40 minutes, Augusta is about 40 minutes, Rockland is about 20 minutes, and Damariscotta is about a 15 minute drive. For boating/kayaking at the main dock, you can paddle about 5 miles to hit the start of Muscongus Bay and its many quiet islands and coves. Or launch at many different ramps along the various peninsulas. Other Things to NoteWe do have a older hound dog Stella and two cats. Stella is harmless, but may bark at initial meeting, then will just nap the rest of the time and love to have one more added to her pack. Guests must be comfortable with dogs. The cats love visitors. If staying in the back two rooms, this area can be closed off to the pets.

The SpaceThe house is a small family, 4-season home, nestled on the shores of the Medomack river and situated on 2-acres of land. It was built by my grandfather right after the war in the 1947. Most of the house was constructed out of reclaimed material. The water is sourced from an artesian well. On the land, live many different species of fruit trees and bushes. When you come to this home, the clock slows down. This home is ideal for a quiet retreat close to many mid-coast attractions. Long term rentals (especially during the winter months) are welcome! Guest AccessFull access to the cottage and land. Help yourself to fresh growing fruit! Interaction with GuestsYou will have the property all to yourself! Should any issues arise, please message me on the Airbnb interface which will also notify the property managers. The NeighborhoodLocated centrally in mid-coast Maine your neighbors will be artists, farmers and those living the good life. On your way to the house you will pass by pastures of horses, sheep, roosters and the famous historic German Lutheran Church as painted by Andrew Wyeth. Waldoboro village is a historic town founded by German settlers. Be sure to stop in Damariscotta! Getting AroundThere is no public transportation close by. You will need a car. Connections to many bus routes about 3-miles from the home, Owls Head Airport is a short drive away. Other Things to NoteThe fireplace is decorative only. Shed in side field is off-limits to guests.

The SpaceOur massive granite fireplace, cathedral peaked ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, private loft guest rooms and private bathroom will make your stay memorable. This reconstructed 1850's dairy barn home features beautiful wide-planked walls and floors, antique furnishings and artsy decor at every turn. You will enjoy this rustic elegance in comfort. Guest AccessGuests are always invited to use the large stone terrace, summer porch, outdoor fireplace and front lawn games. In the winter we invite you to throw another log on the fire and enjoy its warmth. A nearby nook is available for cards and board games. Interaction with GuestsI am happy to make the most of your trip by sharing what I know about the local tourist attractions - there is so much to do! Great restaurants, boat trips, water sports, hiking, fresh and salt water swimming, art galleries, lighthouses, lobster hauls, theater, individual artisan studios to visit, craft centers and much more abound. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood, if you want to call it that, is a 3 mile long dead end road that runs right down the middle of our own little peninsula. It juts off the much larger and popular Pemiquid Penisula here in mid-coast Maine. The residents are a mix of year rounders and summer people. We have doctors, lawyers and a retired police chief, airline pilots and professors, merchant marine and lobster boat captains, artists and teachers, business men and women, clam diggers and crafters, fishermen and farmers. We are blessed with salt water swimming and boating as well as one of the best little fresh water swimming holes you have ever seen. Practically unknown, shhhhh, we like it that way. Two land trust preserves on our street add to the natural beauty. Two little long time community centers and an 1800's seasonal church add to the ambiance. Getting AroundYou will need a car to visit attractions. Other Things to NoteA cottage industry, The Maine Float Rope Co. where mats, rugs and baskets are woven out of lobster trap rope is located on the premises. Guests are welcome to watch how they are made. Lessons for a fee can be arranged with advanced notice and suitable length of stay. Items are available for sale.

Begin each day with breathtaking Medomak River water views from Jacobs Place, a unique and beautifully renovated 1884 Cape-style Saltwater Farm set on 15 acres of rolling meadows. This historic property has recently been transformed and redecorated by a team of architects and interior designers and features a modern architectural interior with big open spaces, taking great care to respect the original structure and features. This Maine home is luxuriously appointed and has been equipped to a very high standard to enable the owners and guests to enjoy it year-round. Every season offers it's particular charm - Spring and Summer offer the classic Maine Vacationland experience, Fall colors are beautiful and we love to spend late afternoons after a hike in front of the outdoor granite fireplace (For Fall Foliage information, go to http://www.maine.gov/dacf/mfs/projects/fall_foliage/index.shtml). Winter and especially the Holiday Season is a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful interiors and chef's kitchen. Its New England coastal retreat style, enhanced by locally sourced antiques and unique decorative touches, provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere and is a wonderful place for families and friends to gather in a cozy and very private setting. There are breathtaking views from the entire ground floor, including the contemporary country-style Chef’s kitchen with state of the art stainless appliances as well as cherry-wood countertops. Sliding doors from the living/dining area open onto the spacious curved deck that runs the length of the home with steps leading down to the cobblestone circular patio area, which is equipped with a granite fireplace. Complete with built-in seating and LED riser lights, the space extends indoor entertaining outdoors. The 2400 sqft home has a large open concept living/dining/kitchen space, mixing contemporary design with historic architectural features and custom-built furniture. The spacious ground floor master suite has deck access and a spa-style ensuite bathroom. Upstairs, the 2-room guest suite, 2nd guest room and family/media room offer plenty of additional space. Your days might start (early or later…) with a morning walk down to the water, possibly with a thermos of coffee as we often do, to sit and enjoy the peaceful views from the bench installed at the water’s edge. Or for those of you so inclined, do your morning exercises watching the sun rise. I myself will tend to open the deck doors from the master bedroom and watch the view from there with my first cup of coffee. You will want to spend time relaxing on the elevated deck while planning trips to the beach or some of the nearby villages and towns such as Damariscotta, Rockland or Camden to name a few. Further afield, you will find spectacular hiking trails available in Camden Hills State Park or Acadia National Park. If you don’t feel like going out for dinner, get lobster from a local supplier or decide to cook a meal in the fully equipped kitchen or simply use the large gas grill on the deck for a simple barbecue. Later in the evening, light a fire in the outdoors granite fireplace, cook smores or just enjoy conversation with your friends and family. This home was the featured remodel on the DIY Network show Blog Cabin 2012.

This converted barn was beautifully renovated to a 4 bedroom house. It is on a private peninsula jutting into one of the last pristine bays on the mid-coast of Maine. Walk across a beautiful sweeping hay field to a small pebbled beach for some of the best swimming around. Feast on local lobster or dine in one of many great local restaurants. Bring your boat because there is a paved launch ramp just down the street. The fishing is great. This house is a perfect place to bring family and friends. Waldoboro: Waldoboro is on the Medomak River, at Muscongus Bay. It was originally a German settlement and was known for its local shipyards, which built five-masted schooners in the 19th century. Beautiful Greek Revival home with wide wrap around porches poised for sunset views over the tidal Medomak valley and river. Set on 3 acres of hillside, and a 5 minute walk to the quiet village of Waldoboro and its town dock (kayaking/canoeing, etc), this is a peaceful getaway home close to so many beautiful parks, waterways, and other more famous areas of mid midcoast Maine (but more crowded!), such as Damariscotta, Rockland, Camden, Belfast, Acadia. In summers charter the owners sailboat at a discount as renters (explore the islands around Muscongus and Penobscot Bays), or in the winter sit by the wood stove and the fireplace, and consider cooking at the working wood cook stove. Rooms are lovingly furnished with owners' finds from antique and flea markets, and virtually every room has a working turntable with a handful of records ready to play (or bring your own!). This house is the primary home of it's owners, Paul and Erica, and in wanting to share it's beauty, they hand it over to visitors to take opportunities to visit family and sail the coast, or they stay in the barn loft to focus on their studio work. Contact is advised prior to booking to assure latest updates in availability! In the attached post and beam barn is a well appointed metal and wood shop, available upon request for guided use and/or furniture to sculpture, we can arrange to be a sort of Maker Space B&B! We also offer a 15% discount off our handmade wares to guests and their friends & family, purchased at the house or at our website.
