The SpaceIt's an inviting cozy room with empty closet, towels and linens, across the hall from a bathroom. It has bare hardwood floors and the room has a view of the front garden. There's wifi, laptop desk, cable tv, overhead fan and plenty of outlets and light. The queen bed accommodates 2. Hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion items are provided. Bath may also be used by my renter. Guest AccessIts an open plan house, rooms all on one level and guests enjoy shared sunny family room, breakfast area, deck, living and dining rooms. Use of espresso maker, ftidge space, microwave, toaster oven, gas stove, pots, utensils, and laundry can be worked out with host. There's plenty of free parking in the area and it's a deadend street. The home has hardwood floors and clean attractive decor. The private pool area 2 blocks away has a parking lot, hot tub and pool and areas with tables and chairs and is open usually May 1-Oct 1. Our vegetable garden seasonally provides organic fresh herbs and other items for breakfast. Two cats generally stay in my bedroom and a tiny dog may be visiting. Guests particularly enjoy the deck, bird feeders, easy parking, trails, and easy access through a "secret" back gate to grassy wild open space. Interaction with GuestsI enjoy my guests and learning about them. I also can respect your wishes, time and need for privacy. Breakfast choices are included. I am a retired arts education administrator with grown kids, and share the home. I am always busy and have traveled to parts of Europe, Central and S. America and Asia. I understand and speak french and some spanish. I live in the house with a renter. I am present during most visits. I can usually be reached by cell, text or email and if I need to turn off the cell you can leave a message. The NeighborhoodWonderful, quiet, safe neighborhood and great neighbors on a deadend street with ample street parking. Open space area behind the home and close to running and walking trails. A greenbelt trail leads to the seasonal pool and hot tub. Two blocks over is the public park with tennis courts, basketball, soccer fields, playground and access to cross county trails. It's a 10 minute drive to downtown and BART rapid transit to San Francisco, Oakland or Berkeley. Walnut Creek is known for great restaurants, shopping, movies, theater, and nightlife and has a free downtown shuttle bus. I'm about 3 miles from the entry to Mt. Diablo State Park, Borges Ranch open space and an East Bay Regional Park. Getting AroundUber is available. Bus service is not nearby, poor and infrequent. The BART rapid transit station to airports and free Walnut Creek downtown shuttle bus are 10 minutes (5-6 miles) drive by car. Less than 2 miles away are 3 shopping centers with restaurants, coffee shops, Whole Foods, Safeway, pharmacy, yogurt, hardware, bike store, salons, etc. The library is about 1 mile. Once downtown the free shuttle goes throughout the very popular area of numerous stores and shops, fountains, restaurants, cafes, bars and nightlife, a movie multiplex and theater, salons and other amenities. The home is a few blocks from the cross county trail, for bikers, hikers and runners. The 3500 ft high Mt. Diablo State Park is also quite close. There is a park, playgrounds and sports fields two blocks away. Close also are a brewery with tasting, an art center with one day workshops, vineyards and downtown tasting rooms, a wildlife museum and seasonal horseback trail rides. Other Things to NoteThe home is located in a micro climate that is generally sunny and warm and benefits from breezes as hot air rises up Mt. Diablo or comes down at night creating natural air conditioning. For very hot days there's one portable air conditioner and fans. We get little fog. I love Berkeley and SF and visit frequently (30 minutes to Berkeley, 45 or so to SF). My yard is low water consumption and with vegetables is outdoorsy and does not have a typical suburban look.
