The SpaceExperience the rustic charm of an authentic log cabin in a secluded setting in the Green Mountain National Forest. The property sits on 3 acres of land, where kids can roam free in the woods, and everyone can enjoy a late night bonfire in the stone firepit and check out the Milky Way. Add to that all the amenities of modern living: a new flat screen TV, an old-school rocking stereo system, and wifi (don't tell the kids..). Guest AccessGuests have access to a year-round indoor pool located about 1/2 mile from the cabin as well as a newly resurfaced outdoor tennis court. Interaction with GuestsThe owners do not live in the area. We can be reached by phone anytime and we have a caretaker a few miles away who can deal with any house emergency. The NeighborhoodThe cabin is close to a large variety of outdoor activities. Downhill skiing at Mount Snow is 6 miles away, and Stratton is 10 miles. In winter this means about a 10 minute drive to Mt Snow, and about 30 minutes to Stratton on the main highway. There is a back road to Stratton that takes about 20 minutes, but can be tricky in winter. X-country skiing at Timbercreek is 6 miles away. There are numerous hiking and snowshoe trails in the area: The Appalachian Trail is about 6 miles away, and the hike on the AT to the summit of Stratton Mt is a great day hike Grout Pond is also 6 miles away and offers canoeing and hiking. Jamaica State Park is 10 miles away and has an amazing water fall & swimming hole as well as a great rail-trail for biking. A more complete listing of activities is available at the cabin, or feel free to emails us with any questions. If the weather is not cooperating you can always go shopping at the great selection of outlets and fine dining in Manchester, about 45 minutes away. There are also many excellent restaurants in West Dover (Mount Snow) and in Wilmington, about 25 minutes away. Other quintessential Vermont towns to visit are Bennington and Brattleboro, both 45 minutes away. Getting AroundGetting to the cabin requires going up a rather steep hill. A 4-wheel drive is recommended in winter. It's not usually necessary, but it helps. The driveway is plowed by the caretaker whenever it snows more than 4 inches. There is a well stocked general store in West Wardsboro, about 3 miles from the cabin.

The SpaceCozy room with bunk bed off the livingroom, on the first floor. Double bed below folds into couch, single bed above. Room for three if you're willing to be close. Jay Hawk is the name of this retreat: Jamaica Healing Arts and Wellness Center/ JHAWC. The livingroom is heated by a wood stove, so there's nice radiant heat, although this little room can get chilly. There are lots of blankets. Shared bath and kitchen are also on the first floor. Two cats, and two bunnies call this home, too (and a little dust and a few spiders). Guest AccessFree Wi-Fi, shared bathroom and kitchen. Easy free parking. Dirt road, so front wheel or all-wheel drive is helpful. During mud season, you might find it difficult to navigate without it. Interaction with GuestsInteraction is based on your wishes and our availability. Options of your stay include receiving Reiki treatments and/or massage, playing music (Roland piano in adjacent livingroom, resident musicians might like to jam with you - drums, guitar, flute, cello), being inspired in the connected weaving studio - maybe taking a weaving, knitting or spinning lesson, having a guided forest bathing walk, or doing some yoga together. The NeighborhoodThere are no neighbors within sight, though there is a camp across the road used during hunting season. The neighborhood, bordering the Green Mountain National Forest, is pristine and quiet, except for the sound of the brooks and the birds. Getting AroundThis old farmhouse is 3.8 miles to Sun Bowl at Stratton Mountain resort, 5.1 miles to Stratton's Base Lodge, 9 miles over the mountain to Bondville, and going in the other direction, 6 miles to the center of Jamaica Village. It is very rural and you'll need your own transportation. Other Things to NoteThere are technically 5 bedrooms in the house, although one is used as the "command center" and another is the "luna room" where Reiki and massage sessions occur, by appointment. The other available bedroom is a double bed upstairs, which is also listed for availability on this site. So there may be another couple sharing the house, too. The clawfoot bathtub is sublime and includes a shower. Towels and sheets provided. Washing machine and dryer available. We'll make coffee or tea and have milk and honey for you. Also homemade bread available for breakfast - it's good toasted. Other meal requirements are up to you, and you're free to use the kitchen. Local restaurants within driving distance.

The SpaceWelcome to our home! We are so happy to have you. We love Vermont and are thrilled to share that with our visitors. This cottage has been in the family for over 15 years. The house comfortably sleeps 6 & has a fully equipped kitchen. It is convenient to both Mt. Snow (15 min. drive) and Stratton (30 min. drive). The house has no TV or internet; there is strong cell phone service at both mountains but our cottage is quite tucked away & the service is spotty. There is a land line if you need to make any calls. There are plenty of board games, puzzles, darts, and chess. The upstairs bathroom and the deck are both newly renovated (as of 2015). Help yourself to the extra snow gear, snow shoes, and cross country-skis -- just please be careful to return them in the same condition! We cherish this house and hope that all of our guests enjoy their time here. Please make yourself completely at home... we only ask that you treat our home with the same respect that you would treat your own.
