You can pick either from Seafront, Standard Garden or Superior Garden Villas. The Seafront Villas are air conditioned, spacious and private, with a king-sized bed and a large en-suite bathroom. A secluded sun terrace faces a spectacular ocean sunset. The Standard Garden Villas are nestled in the property tropical gardens with Tanga slate floors, mosquito-net-covered king-sized beds, an open plan, en-suite bathrooms, and a makuti-thatched verandah. Please note that this room type is very basic, with no air conditioning. The Superior Garden Villas are similar to the Standard Garden but the difference is that these rooms have the advantage of interconnecting doors – an excellent choice for families or larger groups. These villas are air conditioned with a private makuti thatch-covered terrace and king-sized four-poster bed. The “Barazza” lounger can be used as a third bed, and a fourth single bed can be added upon request. There are hot and cold water showers in the en-suite bathroom.

The SpaceA solar installation caters for lighting. Phones and cameras can be charged (but not high-energy consuming devices such as laptops or electric cooler boxes). Since there is no ground water on the island and its inhabitants have to entirely rely on rainwater collected in communal cisterns, the cottages are equipped with water saving bucket showers. Waste fluid is being diluted and used for plants (en-suite bathroom) and there is an additional outside bathhouse equipped with flush toilets (using sea water) and further shower rooms. Guest AccessYou should not be surprised to encounter Blue monkeys, lizards, chameleons, duikers, cats, birds, and a donkey named Habib. Blue Monkey Beach Cottages have a private sand beach on the cliffs and wooden jetty to access the sea. A smaller traditional Arab Dhow is available for private sailing trips. Egrets and storks feeding in the intertidal zone can be watched from the comfort of chairs set in the shade of a baobab tree, and with a bit of good luck a school of resident humpback dolphins can be spotted playing around with their befriended bottlenose dolphins. A multitude of birds and butterflies roam about the flowers and fruits of the garden which are also an attraction for Blue Monkeys. Interaction with GuestsWe are living on the far end of the spacious property. While highly respecting the privacy of our guests, we are available for any advice. Being island locals and members of the Wasini Boat Operators, any excursions, including scuba diving, can be organized. We will show you the best snorkeling sites where you can see a myriad of colorful reef fishes, and on a cruise to Kisite Mpunguti Marine National Park you have very good chances to spend time with our resident bottlenose dolphins. The NeighborhoodWasini Island life is mainly influenced by Swahili culture, its semi-arid flora, the indigenous fauna, and the surrounding sea including the magnificent Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park. Our laid-back home has plenty to offer to the traveler who seeks a nature sanctuary to refresh body and soul. We deem the island to be one of the safest places on earth. Getting AroundDistance to nearby cities (in km): Mombasa (74), Ukunda / Diani Beach (43), Shimoni (2), Lunga Lunga - Border Tanzania (10), Tanga - Tanzania (55) Public transport from the above cities is available. Transfers by car can be booked. Your boat transfer will be arranged by email/phone (Ksh 250 pp) Other Things to NoteWasini is a coral island, that is at low tide, swimming/rubber shoes are very useful to walk in the intertidal zone. At high tide, you can directly swim off the private jetty. Please also consider that there is neither enough electricity to charge laptops nor is there Wifi. Internet access by smartphone works best with a Safaricom SIM-card which can be bought in the frequently found Safaricom outlets on the mainland.
