The SpaceThis one room 20' x 14' cabin is situated on some of the prettiest land Vermont has to offer. Up in the Green Mountains and about 2 miles from the Camel's Hump eastern trail head to the Long Trail, this cabin is a great place to get off line, listen to birds and the wind, write, hike and relax. This place is not for everyone. It is about 8 miles from the nearest town. There is no running water. Water for drinking is provided in 5 gallon jugs with a push dispenser .Ergo, there is no shower. However, the Best Western in Waterbury offers day passes for their indoor pool, where you can get a dip and a shower and even a sauna. It's a little pricey. Electricity is provided by a small solar panel and battery set up. Enough juice is generated for lights and radio. There is a new propane fridge and freezer. Check with us ahead of time, we can let you know what's in the fridge, so you can save some $ (butter, ketchup, coffee, tea..etc) The place is heated by a propane heater (thermostatically controlled) and the stove is gas for cooking. So heat is not a problem if you are out skiing or hiking for the day. There is not a typical sink, so dishes need to be washed in a small tub outside. This is good motivation to keep your dishware use minimalist. There is a composting toilet (but private). Beds are a comfy queen and a twin that folds out from the couch. There is a loft accessible via ladder that is a little snug, but for the right sized person, it's pretty cozy. Bring cross county skis and/or snowshoes for winter recreation! Guest AccessThe property is approximately 7.5 miles from Waterbury, Vermont along well maintained dirt roads. When you are at the corner of River Road and Camel's Hump Rd. (about 4 miles from Waterbury/3 from the cabin) you lose cell service. When you are at the cabin itself, service is spotty. You may luck out. I have gotten 4G service on my Verizon tablet. The cabin is at the top of a long driveway (about .1 mile). During non-snow months, you can unlock the gate and drive up. When there is a lot of snow, the driveway is closed to vehicles. We snowblow a path for you, but you will need to park at the bottom of the hill and walk up; about a 1/10 of a mile. We'll take care of the heavy 5 gallon jugs of water. If you arrive after dark in the winter, we suggest you bring a flashlight or headlamp. Complete directions and key access will be sent upon confirmed reservation. Interaction with GuestsWhile there are neighbors nearby, the place is totally private. There is spotty cell service. So, if there is an emergency, and you can't get a signal, you will have to either drive to town or ask to use a neighbor's phone. The nearest reliable cell service is at the bottom of Camel's Hump Road and River Road (about 3 miles). There is a fridge for you to store food, but a foray into town is not as difficult as it seems for shopping, restaurants and general civilization. (Hey, Ben and Jerry's is in town). The NeighborhoodThere is a reason people sigh and look dreamy when you mention "Vermont". Places like this are why. It's quiet, beautiful, people are friendly and the ju-ju is wonderful. We love it when people tool around the backroads, but please drive slowly. Getting AroundWhile isolated in the mountains, you are near wonderful hiking trails, close to Stowe, Burlington and Montpelier if you want to make a run into civilization, go out to eat, visit Ben and Jerry's; catch a movie at the Savoy Theater or just drive around our beautiful state. Other Things to NoteThis really is a heavenly place, but please evaluate if this type of isolation and lack of modern conveniences is for you.

An off grid cabin in the hills of Vermont with a spectacular view of Camel's Hump. Not for everyone, (no running water or TV, spotty cell service) but if you want quiet, beauty and solitude, this place is for you. A writer-hiker's dream. Come unplug. There is a loft accessible via ladder that is a little snug, but for the right sized person, it's pretty cozy. Once the snow comes, driving up the road to the cabin is not an option. We do keep a path plowed, but be prepared to walk about 1/10th of a mile up the driveway. If you arrive after dark, we strongly suggest flashlight or headlamp. The SpaceThis iconic barn was once a working Dairy barn that was converted into a wooden toy factory in the 60's. It then became an iconic ski restaurant in the 70's and operated with acclaim for 40 years. I purchased and started renovating the space in 2015. Everyone is blown away by how spacious this place is. Huge bedrooms with high quality queen size beds. Three rooms feature sky lights and all have spacious closets. There are two full size living rooms with flat screen TV's and amazon fire sticks for streaming your favorite shows. 8-10 people can seat at each the two dining tables and there is a full size, fully equipped kitchen for preparing meals. We are still in the process of renovating the restaurant and building a yoga/wellness studio on the property so there are plenty of signs of construction and activity but rest assured the restaurant has its own private entrances and is its own space. So far no guests have had issues with any noise from down stairs and we have worked hard to accommodate everyone to ensure a wonderful stay. The property is adjacent to one of the top gold courses in the state and you can walk along the community path to down town Waterbury. Takes about 25 minutes. I keep a few nice mowed trails on my property which is part of an important wild life corridor. You can explore the beautiful thatcher brook and may even be able to pull out a fish or two. Guest AccessYou will have access to the entire residence and the decks and outside area that includes fruit trees and 2 acres of walking trails. There is a great deck and a BBQ grill. Interaction with GuestsI will be staying at my folks place right around the corner and am available to help with anything most anytime. I am also renovating and opening the space below so I am always around. The NeighborhoodWaterbury Center is a true Vermont town. My entire family lives within 40 acres. We are home to some of the finest craft foods in the world including Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream, Heady Topper beer, Green Mountain Coffee and the Cider Mill. I love doing AirBnb and hosting great guests. That being said I am not a hotelier and people expecting hotel like accommodations and concierge services are not my ideal guests. Getting AroundThere is tons of parking at my place and you have easy access to Stowe, Waterbury and the Interstate. There is also a nice 'quiet' path that starts across the street and you can walk to downtown Waterbury (probably 20-30 minutes one way). Other Things to NoteThere is a restaurant downstairs that is being renovated so there may/will be some construction noise but hours will be kept reasonable- hoping to be wrapping up construction in July.

The SpaceI have available on & off street parking, depending on the season. My apartment is open, warm and inviting, with lots of natural light on the first floor. I'm a very visual person, so most of the walls are covered in art and decorations. Most shelves appear cluttered but I promise that I clean every room thoroughly before guests check in. The room itself is quite large, with a comfortable queen size bed. There is a dresser, night stand and small desk provided as well. There is an eye hook latch on inside of the bed room door for privacy but there is no lock on the outside on the door. Guest AccessGuests have access to most of the apartment with the exception of the second bedroom. I have laundry machines in the basement if needed and guests are welcome to utilize fridge space or cooking utensils. Guests are also welcome to use the Kuerig machine and there are k-cups provided. Apart from that, food is not provided. There is wi-fi in the apartment and folks are welcome to use the PlayStation. I do not have cable. Interaction with GuestsI prefer to meet guests when they first check in to provide a tour and offer information about the area. After that, I tend to leave my guests to explore. On week days, I stay in a second bedroom but generally keep to myself, and on weekends I sleep at my boyfriend's apartment. Regardless of where I stay, I usually stop by my apartment twice a day to feed my cats. And I am always available for questions through Airbnb or text messaging! The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is generally pretty quiet, with the exception of the railroad tracks next to my a apartment. I am a short walk to downtown Waterbury which includes Prohibition Pig, The Reservoir, and many more venues to enjoy Heady Topper! I am also a short walk to The Coffee Lab, or a short drive to Hen of the Woods, Ben & Jerry's Factory, and Cold Hollow Cider. Getting AroundUnfortunately Vermont is behind the times on providing adequate public transportation. There is bus system, Uber, and taxis in Burlington & Montpelier areas but limited services in Waterbury. I highly recommend renting a car. Other Things to NoteThere is an active railroad next to my apartment. During the day, there are passenger trains that go by but freight trains tend to run in the evenings. In the evenings a train typically goes by around midnight, but during the summer there will be multiple times throughout the night. If you are running the air conditioner or the space heater, it can usually dull the noise but if you are a light sleeper, this may be a problem.

The SpaceThis single bedroom with a cozy queen sized bed is located in a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with an open floor design with a spacious kitchen. The front porch is always great for catching some sun on a nice day, and you can always count on the locals waving as they drive by. Guest AccessGuests will have access to a private bathroom with laundry located directly across the hall from the room. The kitchen, living area with TV, and the front porch are all there to be enjoyed, as well as the small fire pit area in the back yard. Interaction with GuestsI'm here to offer up suggestions of where to go, what to do, restaurant recommendations, which craft beers you must try, and chat about wine for days. If you're looking to make a reservation at Hen of the Wood, just let me know and I can try to help. Want to have a beer on the porch and talk about life? Great! Want me to leave you alone and let you do your thing? No problem! Other Things to NoteI live alone with my dog Wes, a lab/golden/something mix, so you should be cool with dogs and his desire to be scratched from time to time.

An off grid cabin in the hills of Vermont with a spectacular view of Camel's Hump. Not for everyone, (no running water or TV, spotty cell service) but if you want quiet, beauty and solitude, this place is for you. A writer-hiker's dream. Come unplug. This one room 20' x 14' cabin is situated on some of the prettiest land Vermont has to offer. Water for drinking is provided in 5 gallon jugs with a push dispenser Ergo, there is no shower. However, the Best Western in Waterbury offers day passes for their indoor pool, where you can get a dip and a shower and even a sauna. It's a little pricey. However, I am a member of First in Fitness in Montpelier and Berlin and can offer you a guest pass, good at either location. (Montpelier is a GREAT town!) Berlin has an indoor pool. There is a composting toilet (but private), so no flushing. Beds are a comfy queen and a twin that folds out from the couch. There is a loft accessible via ladder that is a little snug, but for the right sized person, it's pretty cozy. Once the snow comes, driving up the road to the cabin is not an option. We do keep a path plowed, but be prepared to walk about 1/10th of a mile up the driveway. If you arrive after dark, we strongly suggest flashlight or headlamp. Bring your cross country skis and/or snowshoes.

The Terraces unit sleeps six in two bedrooms with two full baths, kitchenette, dining area, patio, and a 300 square foot living room. With 12-foot ceilings, knotty pine walls, stone fireplace, and big windows overlooking the forest, you find yourself in a ski lodge, not a condo.
