The SpaceThe Meadow House rests at the base of the Worcester Mountains across from the Western trailhead to Hunger Mountain. The inside spaces offer a spacious floor plan accommodating groups of up to 20 guests comfortably. Outside spaces include a secluded 1/2 acre pond, maple sugarbush, and a trail system that connects with the Skyline trail, White Rock, Hogback Mountain, Stowe Pinnacle, and Worcester Mountain summits to the North. Originally a ski dorm cabin, the Meadow House was recently remodeled and includes a curved cathedral ceiling that delivers lush acoustics and dynamic ambiance. The Meadow House functions as both vacation rental and as an artist residency program in conjunction with a few established arts-oriented foundations in the area. Additional services can be added to the experience including on-site chef, yoga/massage, recording engineer, and/or outdoor videographers. The Meadow House is ideal for active families looking to share a unique experience in the heart of Vermont’s mountains or small teams looking to work and play in an inspired setting. The expansive hillside meadow in front of the Meadow House delivers the residencies’ namesake- as well as enough clearance to provide 360-degree views from the roof deck. The Western views are abundantly incorporated into the design of the house and span roughly 50 miles from Mt. Abe in the South to Mt. Mansfield up North and includes Camel’s Hump as well as the entire Bolton range due West. Guest AccessMeadow House breakdown floor-by-floor. Whole house rentals have access to all of the rooms below. Specific sleeping arrangements are preferred if and when known so we can schedule the room to be set appropriately. There is a shared pantry and bar that MH guests are free to access and contribute towards. **Room names are in parentheses- plus added context. Let me know if/as questions arise. Have a great day! 1ST FLOOR Kitchen Living room Mudroom Dining room 2-car garage/industrial design studio 1/2 Bath Bedroom #1 (Root Cellar): Currently there is a queen foam memory bed with a custom white birch bed frame harvested from trees grown locally on-site. The space has radiant concrete floors, an organic modern wood-panel / copper vibe going on right now with library built-ins, and walk-out french doors to the western patio. Includes full use of dresser / closet spaces. (Sleeps 2 people total) 2ND FLOOR: Multi-functional curved roof studio space w/ loft (Cabin Walls) Open flow hall to 500 sq. ft. Northern balcony overlooks pond & views to Mt. Hunger Laundry room In the hallway is a narrow 1-person sleeper sofa chair that can be shifted around into other rooms. It works well for kids but is rather narrow for adults. Bedroom #2: (Forest Curves) 1 double bed, with a 2-person futon in the loft above. A twin bed is currently set up in here as well. Includes full use of closet space. (Sleeps 2-5 people total) Bedroom #3: (Northern Exposure) 2 double beds with two twin air mattresses stored under the beds. Includes full use of closet spaces. (Sleeps 5-6 people total). Bedroom #4: (Western Sky) 1 King Tempurpedic. A twin bed is also currently set-up in here and a twin air mattress is stored under the bedframe for easy access. Includes full use of large walk-in closet space. (2-4 people total) Full Bathroom #1 - tub/shower, toilet, and double vanity. 3RD FLOOR SUITE: (Treetop Flyer) We've had groups set this space up for sleeping of up to 6 or 7. Air mattresses are moved around easily enough from closet storage in the bathroom area. Some groups like to stack all of the sleeping into the 1st / 2nd floor rooms and open this up as a low-key space to hang and enjoy the elevation- and also because of the access to the roof deck. The treetop flyer suite is a play on the backcountry treehouse vibe- and a nod to the forthcoming treehouse pool or hot tub we will be suspending in the forest canopy as part of a future artist residency program.... still in design stages on that, but guests will have access to it when completed. A bunch of the materials in the treetop flyer come from the original log cabin- like the pine flooring or the stained glass doors that have been repurposed. Bedroom #4: (Birch Canopy) 1 memory foam King with 2 twin euro futons optional. Includes full use of dressers/closet spaces. (Sleeps 4-8 people total). Full Bathroom #2: (Western Rain) Kohler jetted tub, vanity, toilet, wooden shower- from one of most recent artist residency collaborations. Exercise Equipment Space: (Permanently Unnamed) Treadmill, some small weights, yoga mats, and a few other odds and ends. Office Space: (Mid-night) Desk with Internet connectivity and inspiring views. ***This space is currently plumbed for a kitchenette / wet bar space and the office may be replaced by a bar-stool eat-in counter, w/ fridge/oven/range before your stay. Alternate inspired office spaces can be arranged- please let us know in advance if this is critical to your group's needs. 4th FLOOR: Roof deck with 360 degree views. Interaction with GuestsFor whole-house rentals, only at check-in / check-out or unless previously discussed. Always available to guests by text/phone as/if needed. The NeighborhoodSo much goodness here. From mind-bending trail systems to locally brewed pleasures, there is just a lot around here to share. More to come... Getting AroundHopefully more to come... currently working on a shuttle service for MH guests to connect with the public mountain transit systems to Stowe/Smuggler's Notch to the North, Bolton to the West, and downtown Waterbury, Sugarbush, and Mad River Glen to the South- all within a 15-30 min. drive from MH.
