The SpaceLike the bustling Lower West Side of New York, Redfern is fast becoming Sydney's must-stay destination. Situated on a quieter residential street but just on the edge of everything this townhouse includes: * Luxurious master queen bedroom (ensuite designer bathroom), built in wardrobes and open but private sunny balcony with relaxing chairs; * Luxurious second queen bedroom (own designer bathroom) with sunnny private balcony with relaxing chairs; * Gourmet fitted kitchen with European induction cooktop, microwave, oven and dishwasher; * Open-plan dining room with Balinese teak table and replica Eames chairs for six; * Open-plan living with two large sofas, huge coffee table, flat-screen television and stereo/audio unit; * Large sun-filled balcony with outdoor dining for six and state-of-the-art BBQ; *Large screen Mac provided with full internet service; * 100% cotton bed and bath linen provided; * Hair dryers, iron and ironing board provided; * Hidden laundry with European brand appliances in second bathroom; and * Asian and Aboriginal artworks throughout. Redfern's Aboriginal roots and working class past remain but this industrial, unpolished precinct's stock is rising thanks to cutting-edge galleries, a slow food scene, vintage stores and cool festivals. Explore its streets and you never know what you'll find! At Lower West Side we provide complete privacy for our guests. It is just a few minutes flat and easy stroll to Redfern train station which offers easy, regular and safe access the many attractions of Sydney. No pets can be accommodated at Lower West Side. This terrace is also a strict non-smoking home. While respectful of the past, Redfern is intent on embracing the future, too – perhaps no more so than at the historical Eveleigh railyards, transformed in recent years to the cavernous, multi-venue space known as Carriageworks. The eclectic program here features theatre, music, retro dance parties and mini-festivals – and some amazing markets. On Saturdays the space is a buzzing hive of activity as the Eveleigh Farmers' Market comes to life. Grab a coffee, chat to the farmers about their produce and fill a bag with everything from mussels and meats to organic veggies. The Artisans' Market is also a must – it's held here on the first Sunday of the month. Sports fans hoping to sneak a peek at the Rabbitohs in training should head to Redfern Park oval, while art lovers will find a range of contemporary exhibitions on George, Regent and Danks streets. If your heart flutters over vintage furniture and retro collectables, there's no shortage of dusty gems to unearth in stores like Doug Up On Bourke, Mao and More and Retro on Regent. Back in the dim, gas-powered street lamp era of the 1890s, the suburb had the honour of being the brightest in Sydney – its Electric Light Station was the first to supply the city with electricity. The iconic building's been reused since as Rolling Stone Magazine's headquarters, and today, houses Martyn Cook Antiques. Hungry? Sign up for a cooking class at Italian provodore Fratelli Fresh on Danks Street – or grab a table at award-winning Danks Street Depot, a bustling bistro made famous by chef Jared Ingersoll's rustic, stomach-warming fare. If you're exploring after dark, opt for a burger at Baffi and Mo. Guest AccessGuests have access to all of the house except the locked garage on ground floor. However there are many stairs so not suitable for toddlers who need supervision or elderly guests who would have trouble with multiple staircases. Interaction with GuestsLower east Side respects guests privacy and there will be no-one on site during your stay. Getting AroundThe Lower West Side is a few minutes walk from Redfern train station which one stop from the Central rail terminal for Sydney. Other Things to NotePlease note the master bedroom is on the top level and has private staircase access but no door on the bedroom or bathroom - it is open plan but private. The other bedroom is two floors below and the living area is on the floor in between.

The SpaceThe apartment is on the top floor facing west over Redfern station. It is renovated to a high standard with bamboo floors, organic paint, fully tiled bathrooms and a convenient ‘galley’ kitchen. Both bedrooms are huge with large openable skylights. The NeighborhoodIs the ‘hippest’ neighbourhood in Sydney right now. There are five small bars within five minutes walk of the building, not to mention lots of good cafes and new restaurants opening every week. There are lovely parks nearby (and an awesome outdoor 50m pool in Prince Alfred Park, 12 minutes walk away) and two yoga studios within 10 minutes walk. On Saturday mornings foodies come from around Sydney to the Eveleigh market for fresh produce and yummy brunch (from pho to crepes to bacon and egg rolls). Another renowned local attraction is the White Rabbit Gallery - an amazing private modern Chinese art collection open free to the public, also ten minutes walk away in Chippendale. You’re also only a short walk to Surry Hills - Sydney’s food mecca and home to the Belvior Street theatre - where Cate Blanchett and Hugo Weaving started their careers. Newtown - which used to be a gritty student suburb - is a few minutes walk in the other direction and has a numerous clothes, food and other shopping attractions. Glebe, Sydney Uni, UTS and Centennial Park are also nearby and it’s only just over half an hour to the beach via a train to Bondi Junction. Getting AroundThe location is awesome - you can be on a train or bus in three minutes or simply wander a couple minutes more to the neighbourhood's funky bars and cafes. Platform ten of Redfern station ends directly opposite the Watertower - maybe 20 metres from the entrance to the building. Almost all trains stop at Redfern Station - and you’re only one stop from Central (where all trains, including the airport line) stop. There are also a few bus routes that run through Redfern and stop near the station. Other Things to NoteThere is a $125 fee to replace the security key if you lose it.

The SpaceMy guest room has just been updated with new carpet, paint and furniture. It sleeps 2 adults in a queen sized bed with luxury bedding. The guest room is located in a modern two bedroom open plan apartment with timber floors, natural light and air conditioning. As host I live in the apartment and sleep in the second bedroom. The restyled guest room boasts a queen sized bed with luxury bedding and towels, full length wardrobe, mirror, digital television fixed to the wall & unlimited wifi broadband. The guest room is private with natural light that opens to a balcony. Please note that there is some traffic and general street noise so if you are a light sleeper it maybe advisable to book elsewhere or bring earplugs! At check in my guests receive a welcome pack that contains Aussie wine or beer, biscuits, sweets and bottled water. Being one of Sydney's original Airbnb hosts I understand how important it is not to have your travel plans canceled at the last minute. Since becoming an Airbnb host four years ago I am proud that I have never canceled a guest booking. Stay with an established Airbnb host! A clean and tidy bathroom with bath and shower, toiletries are supplied and limited use of washing machine, generally 1 load per stay but please do not arrive with your dirty washing direct from home (this has happened on several occasions!) I also supply a breakfast of eggs, cereals, toast, tea and coffee which you help yourself to. There is a new espresso coffee machine with a large variety of pods. There is a fully equipped gym including treadmills, step machine, machine weights and free weights – all included in the nightly charge of the room, perfect for business or pleasure trips to Sydney! The building also features a stunning rooftop swimming pool and BBQ area - after a day sightseeing relax with a swim and cook dinner on the BBQ's. While the apartment is air conditioned there is no separate unit in the guestroom however the cool air does flow into the guestroom with the door open. The apartment is located in Inner City Redfern. Redfern is known for young professionals and trendy locals and offers funky cafes and pubs while being a 20 minute walk to the City Centre or Sydney University. Sydney's Best Neighbourhood Bar for 2016 is only 100 metres away from the apartment! While only being one train stop away from the city Redfern is not in the heart of the tourist area. It's an Inner City suburb that is ideally situated to explore Sydney's exciting City of Villages away from the traditional tourist areas. If you wish to stay in the traditional tourist areas may I suggest you look for accommodation in the Darling Harbour and Circular Quay areas. An excellent mix of restaurants and cafes of Surry Hills and Newtown is also a short stroll from my apartment. The apartment is a 5 minute walk to Redfern train station, just 1 stop from Central Station or walk into the heart of Sydney in 20 minutes. This train station services all lines including Bondi Junction, City Circle and North Shore Lines. Sightseeing starts here! I welcome new guests to Airbnb however kindly ask that you complete the profile section, listing your home country and city and a little information about yourself before sending a request to stay. Also in the 'verify my account' section please link a social media account and upload a passport or drivers license. As a host I do not see that information I simply know that Airbnb are holding that data. As I am opening up my home to you it really is reassuring to know about my guests ahead of accepting the booking. I am more than happy to answer any questions that you may have about your stay or my home. Thanks for reading this far. Now allow me to share with you some previous guests reviews regarding 'location'. - 'Apartment is located further from train station that I expected'. As mentioned in the description the apartment is a simple 5 minute walk from Redfern train station. - 'There is no off street parking'. Correct. There is no off street parking, therefore I DO NOT list that parking is available. - 'The road noise can be quite loud from time to time'. Correct. Street noise can be quite noisy during peak times, this is clearly detailed within the description. If you are a light sleeper its advisable to bring ear plugs or book elsewhere. If you are looking for a traditional 5 star hotel experience then please look elsewhere. If you are looking for a clean, tidy, friendly, and welcoming experience for your Sydney stay then this listing is ideal. During your stay if there is something that I can do to ensure you leave a 5 star review on the Airbnb review system then please let me know. Your 5 star review is important to me as a host and helps me to continue to welcome others to my home. Most of my previous guests mention my dog Oscar in their reviews. After 14 years together I sadly said goodbye to Oscar in January this year. Feel free to drop me a line and chat about your visit to Sydney before you book. I have lived in Sydney for 20 years and been an Airbnb host for 4 years. I love talking about Sydney and suggesting what to see and do while you enjoy the stay Guest AccessMy guests will have their own brand new fridge freezer and use of the kitchen for light meals. Please note the following for check in. Monday to Friday check in anytime after 2.15pm - simply advise and I will ensure I am home to welcome you. Weekends are mostly flexible. I hope the above times fit with your plans. There are plenty of coffee shops nearby to relax at ahead of check in. Or leave your luggage in the lockers at Central Station and grab lunch in Chinatown ahead of check in. Interaction with GuestsHaving been an Airbnb host for four years I understand the importance of guest interaction. While I am happy to chat and exchange stories and travel tips, I am equally happy to offer peace and quiet. Getting AroundRedfern station is located 5 minutes walk from the apartment. From Redfern it is 1 stop to Central Station. All major areas of Sydney can be accessed from Redfern. Or simply walk! The City is only 20 minutes walk. Other Things to NoteWhile I am happy to accept new guests to Airbnb with no previous reviews I would kindly ask that you verify a few details ahead of sending a booking request. If I am opening up my home to you then please have uploaded a recent photograph and verified email or verified other third party web sites from the 'edit profile page' on your Airbnb dashboard. As I host I do not see the details of your passport etc (it is held by Airbnb) it allows me to ensure the person placing the booking will be the person staying. Thanks for your understanding.

To guests who have stayed with us before, we are sorry to say that we lost her towards the end of June, 2015. We currently don't have a dog in the house, however we hope to foster and/or adopt in the near future when the right dog comes into our life. **Update - From mid-end March 2016, we will have Archie the Boxer with us - he is a stately gentleman, 9 years young and very friendly. Feel free to ask any questions about him or ask for a photo. In our experience, we are in a great location for both tourists and for those visiting on business. Those who have benefit the most from staying with us include expats moving to Sydney for work. We have a few living within close proximity, and even catch up with them occasionally at a local pub or play in a team together! At a glance they may look slightly unnerving, but they are harmless and keep to themselves. Next to the key pick up location is The Raglan Cafe. Great coffee and a Malaysian contemporary menu is beautiful. Redfern Continental is a fantastic place for dinner. Modern meals with an Austrian twist. They are 5 min walk up to Redfern Street. This area is known for hipster bars, so if you like boutique beers and dark trendy bars you will enjoy a night out around the area. Getting AroundRedfern Train Station 10 min walk up the road. From there you can go ANYWHERE in Sydney. If you want to walk to the CBD you can. It will take 25mins. Other Things to NoteI am always contactable and receive notifications on my smartphone of any guest correspondence. Ill reply straight away.
