With amazing sunrises, free WI-FI and a location close to Auckland city & transport, this room in Mt Albert is a traveler's haven. As a room in a shared house, the room has been recently renovated, painted and decorated to a high standard. The room has a new QUEEN bed, mattress and linens and features an ensuite toilet and sink. The ensuite is beautifully appointed with quality fittings and natural light. The house itself is a traditional bungalow located within walking distance to major train and bus routes. It is 20 minutes to Auckland International airport. The shared main bathroom features Grohe fixtures and fittings with a mains pressure shower. The house interior has recently been painted and the shared spaces are beautifully decorated. The open plan lounge reflects my love of travel and features three unique living areas: a lounge with a SMART TV, a dining area and a wine/relaxation area. The kitchen is nothing short of designer, with granite benchtops and premium fittings. Guests have access to unlimited tea and coffee during their stay. From the kitchen, you have a stunning view of both Mt Eden and One Tree Hill as the house sits at the base of Mt Albert. The house also sits up against a 5ha farm in the city, providing an endless visita of green. The back garden neighbours include numerous cows, lambs in spring and the occasional run of piglets! Outside areas include outdoor dining on the front porch to capture Auckland's beautiful late afternoon sun. There are also chairs on the back deck - perfect for a morning coffee. Downstairs there is a large table and BBQ area. And, the bottom garden features a large grass area with a hammock for relaxing and reading a book. This a a beautiful, peaceful oasis in the city...with stunning views and plenty of open space. Mt Albert is a beautiful neighbourhood, with several local cafes (Italian, French, Vietnamese). Mt Albert itself offers beautiful walking, with the summit offering a 360 degree panarama view of the city, the oceans and the surrounding mountain ranges. Come and share travel experiences as you share my home.

I can assure you, the sunrises are stunning. Mt Albert is an undiscovered gem in Auckland City. The summit of Mt Albert is a short walk away from the studio and this uncrowded mountaintop provides 360 degree views of the Auckland region. Transport wise, forget the traffic and hassles of other neighbourhoods, Mt Albert is about as convenient to the city as you can get. The train station and major bus routes are just minutes away and if driving, the property is convenient to both State Highway 16 and 20. The SpaceWe live in an older style pre-war house with lovely polished timber floors, an open fireplace and retro furnishings. It mightn't be ultra modern, but we love the friendly character of the building. Your room has a double bed, a work desk and lamp, a comfy recliner chair, drawers and a large wardrobe space. The room is nice and sunny and has heavy curtains for privacy. We provide fresh bedding and towels for your stay. There is a shared bathroom with a shower and the toilet is in a room beside it. There is a shared kitchen and dining space. You are welcome to prepare your own meals as long as you clean up after yourself. Our lounge room has a fireplace and comfy couches to relax on. There is a laundry with a washing machine and space for drying clothes. Guest AccessGuests have broadband internet access and access to all rooms except our son's bedroom and our bedroom. Interaction with GuestsI work from home and my wife works at the local University. I am happy to have a chat or disappear into the background through the day to work. Depending on the school timetable our son will be around and about too. The NeighborhoodWe live right beside Oakley Creek Falls, a nature park reserve with lovely walking tracks. Across the main road from us is another recreational park with play equipment and large fields. We are also in an inner-city suburban neighbourhood comprised of professionals and families wanting to live close to the city centre and students who go to the nearby Unitec campus or other inner-city university campuses. Getting AroundIs there public transport to the city centre and/or the airport? How long to/from each? From our house there are buses going to the city. The 195 bus stop is a 5min walk away and gets you into the middle of town in about 30mins. There is also the Avondale train station about a 15min walk away which gets you to the city and further afield. The Bus is available to/from airport. From the airport you take the AIR bus towards the city then the 258 then the 195. The whole trip takes a bit over an hour. There are other bus combinations, but it depends on the time of day you arrive or depart. Check out the Auckland Journey Planner. (EMAIL HIDDEN) Or you can get an airport shuttle for about $50 for two. Same for a taxi. Uber is cheaper. Check online because options are always changing. How easy is it to get around Auckland without a car? In all honesty, we think Auckland's beautiful surrounds are best seen with a car. Our house is quite close to the Museum of Transport and the Auckland Zoo, and getting to the city centre is easy by bus to see the Rangitoto Islands from the ferry terminal ... but if you want to explore Waitakere Ranges and Western Beaches, a car is your best bet. You can definitely explore auckland well without a car; a car is just more convenient. Other Things to NoteWe live in an inner-city suburb which gives us great access to everything a busy city has to offer. This also means we have many other houses close around us and we cannot control if neighbours make noise. We are also close to a main road and with that comes traffic noise.
