The SpaceSunny, warm room with sea views, french doors, very comfortable queen bed with 100% Turkish cotton Baksana linen sheets and duvet. Quiet and private with new bathroom. Would suit single person or couple. Possibility of also renting second single room for 75/night (for a third person or accompanying child: see photo). Close to bus stops, shops, excellent Indian takeaway, bush walks. Walk to city centre in 20 minutes. Guest AccessGuests have a separate floor of the house to themselves with their own bathroom (which is sometimes shared if the adjacent single room is occupied by another guest) and french doors leading out of the bedroom to an outdoor area with small table and two chairs with views of the harbour and lush valley. The kitchen seating area is also always available for guests to have breakfast, chill out, or evening drinks. The lounge (with sofas and a TV) is sometimes occupied with my two children but guests are welcome to hang out there too if they don't mind lego and the occasional family movie!
Generally our guests can store food in the fridge for snacks and drinks but the kitchen isn't available for guests to cook their own meals because Wendy is busy cooking for clients (she runs a small catering business), her children or friends and family. If you really feel like a home cooked meal, why not ask Wendy to make you one? Or have a cooking class followed by a meal we share together? Interaction with GuestsI love meeting my guests and having a chat over breakfast or evening drinks if I'm not at work but am just as happy to respect your privacy if you prefer to hide out in your room.
NEW home cooked meal option: I am now offering a new service due to guest interest. As a chef, I love cooking and am happy to provide an evening meal with advance notice. (Price and menu upon request) I also love teaching cooking, so if you're keen to learn a new dish or technique, I offer cooking lessons in house, or food tours including a visit to an iconic Wellington food market and picnic with wine match. Past lessons have included: sushi, fresh pasta and ravioli using the Italian pasta machine, eye fillet in mushroom cream sauce, how to make up a balanced cheese board (with visit to a French fromagerie), simple yummy basics (easy, healthy salad dressing and delicious vegees that even kids like!), various patisseries. I'm also open to suggestions! Here are the details:

2.Gourmet Food Tours: Wellington is a great foodie city! If you'd like a personal tour of some of the hottest food spots, let Wendy be your private guide, offering you an insider's view on Wellington's food scene. Wellington city is flat and great for easy walking! Wendy will reveal favourite spots often missed by visitors. Enjoy a moveable feast of small tastes, starting with a French bakery for a pastry, a boutique coffee roaster, then moving on to the gourmet grocery store Moore Wilsons to buy ingredients for a French-style picnic (think baguettes, cheese, salad, wine). Last stop is Bohemein chocolate shop for chocolate truffles or salted caramels. At the end of the tour, we enjoy a picnic together outdoors or back at Wendy's if the weather is inclement. Total time of tour, including picnic: two hours.
Cost: $89 per person, two person minimum
3.Home cooked meals: Fancy a hot meal without leaving the house? Let Wendy cook for you! Menus change seasonally so enquire with Wendy.

Two-course meal: $40 (ex. A main such as eye fillet in mushroom cream sauce + dessert, or main + large mixed salad or barbequed mixed vegetables)
Three course meal: $55 (starter, main and dessert). The NeighborhoodWadestown is a quiet, safe suburb with a small set of shops, a few take aways, stunning harbor and bush views, great walks, and easy access to the city by foot, bus or car. Getting AroundConvenient buses, walking, taxis or your own hire car. Free parking is available on the road by the house. Other Things to NoteThis being Wellington, stairs are a fact of life. Most houses are built on a hillside with access via outdoor steps. Luckily our bnb has generous steps leading down to the house. Once inside, you will need to descend a flight of wooden stairs to reach your room. Those with mobility issues would be better served by an inner city hotel with elevator. Our BnB is a 1920s modernised home with lots of character....and some steps!
