The SpaceEnjoy stunning lake and mountains views from this sweet lakefront cottage. Perfect for a romantic getaway for two, or bring the family to join the fun. Sleeps up to 6. We offer GREAT rates here, it's a family camp that is kept in great shape but is not brand new like many others, so we keep the rents low. The views are some of the best you'll ever see, and this is direct waterfront with dock, boats and fire pit. We have many who come back every year...hope you will too! A favorite room is the large screened in porch for enjoying meals with friends and family, or for playing cards late into the evening, The lake and mountain views from this property and this porch are unsurpassed! Very large lawn for hanging out, dock and boats provided for swimming and exploring the lake. We supply detailed descriptions of hikes and waterfalls for our guests - many took us years to find - so you will have access to all those special spots, waterfalls and hikes that we love so much. The Cottage has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed, the other has a great double bed and custom made bunk beds the kids will love. Sleeps 6 people max here in a total of 4 beds. Living room has a wood fireplace, there is an outside fire pit (wood provided), fully equipped kitchen, gas grill, washer/dryer, dock, row boat, 2 person kayak, paddle boat, Wifi, Netflix and a 47 inch flat screen (but no cable). The large lawn is a great spot to hang out, has stunning views, outdoor adirondack chairs, a dining table and a fire pit to roast marshmallows and watch for shooting stars at night. There are numerous hikes for both beginners and the more athletically talented in this area, some beautiful local waterfalls, fishing right off our dock or on nearby rivers, free tennis, basketball courts and public beach in town. We provide quality linens, towels and many other necessities to make your stay easy. Things like coffee filters, paper towels, spices...they are all here. Just bring your swim suits and hiking shoes. This has been our family home for 60 years, there are updates (like new bathroom), but for the most part this remains a camp, albeit a very clean and well maintained one, with all the rustic charm that you might expect in an older home. Best things about the house? The waterfront location, the amazing view, comfy beds. The sight of the fog lifting off the lake while enjoying that first cup of coffee in the morning still takes our breath away. Things we would change if we could? There is a boat launch next door - doesn't get much action (this is a very sleepy lake), but on a busy summer weekend you might be watching a few boats coming and going. Also RECYCLES are a real hassle here. Guests must agree to take theirs home if they bring a lot - a few can be left (less than 1 bag of them) but you must agree to follow the towns strict recycle rules - they must be kept clean and separate from garbage. We (i.e. the housekeeper) then have to take them to the dump and separate them into bins by hand. We simply cannot handle this task if large amounts are left. So - our general rule here is, if you bring a lot in, you must agree to take them out! This is 4 hrs from NYC, 1.5 hrs from Albany, 1 hr from Saratoga and Lake George. No smoking, no pets (no exceptions, sorry!), no parties here, no exceptions. Rates quoted are for two persons, $10 fee per additional person per day, this includes children. Six persons max, no exceptions to that either, sorry! All adult guests must agree to read and sign our lease, and to follow the house instructions. Guest AccessEverything Interaction with GuestsAs little or as much as you'd like ;) The NeighborhoodNo Tourists, Quiet, Peaceful. Can do a daily walk around the lake, it's 3.5 miles. There is a town beach, playground, basketball and free tennis courts. The Southern Adirondacks are a rugged, very scenic area of the Adirondack Park, just 4 hours from NYC. This area is close enough for a weekend away, but seems like it's a thousand miles away. We are surrounded by lakes, mountains, waterfalls and beautiful drives. Most surrounding towns are relatively small, each has their charm and personality. Within an hours drive you can find more action and culture - try Saratoga Springs, Lake George or Lake Placid (2 hours). What to do here? Relax. Enjoy nature and wildlife. Drink in the views. Swim in the Lake. Breathe in the clean air. Go on hikes. Sit by a waterfall. Read 10 books. Kayak. Birdwatch. Antique. BBQ. Play tennis with a lake view. Look for bald eagles. Picnic. Sleep. Laugh. Play cards. Enjoy. Getting AroundMust have car Other Things to NoteAll adult guests must agree to read and follow our house rules and instructions, and to sign our lease.

This is an exceptionally comfortable home. Guests favorite room tends to be the kitchen, which is part of an open floor plan with dining and sitting room with fireplace, all with great views of the lake. There is a separate living room with 40" flat screen for movie viewing through Net Flix. No cable here. Upstairs Master Bedroom has queen bed, cathedral ceilings and beautiful views of the lake and mountains. Private master bath with extra deep soaking tub (great after day of hiking or skiing), nice lake views from master bath too. Upstairs Guest Bedrooms each have one double bed and use of the 1/2 bath upstairs. Another full bath is downstairs. SPRING, SUMMER and FALL In warmer weather we supply 2 kayaks, one stand up paddle board, water tube for playing on the lake and 2 nice bikes. The lake is quiet, clean and perfect for a refreshing swim, kayak or laze on a tube. The local sand beach is nearby, free tennis and basketball courts in town. WINTER In winter we supply 4 sets snowshoes. This home is a convenient and comfortable base for winter activities - try snow shoeing, hiking, ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross country or downhill skiing. There are occasional winter race car tournaments on the lake, great views of it from inside or go out and watch up close and personal, very exciting to see! The house is across the street (not a busy one) from the lake. MORE ABOUT THE HOUSE This is not your typical rental house - plenty of love, attention and resources have gone into the renovation of this home, which was a working farm for 90 years and is one of the oldest houses in Wells. We are sharing with our guests all of the stuff that we enjoy on our holidays here - terrific beds with nice linens, top notch grill, antique wood floors throughout, good furnishings, kayaks, snowshoes - all very nice things. So we are looking for responsible, considerate guests who appreciate this and will pay attention to some of the nuances....such as our beautiful wood counters throughout the kitchen will stain permanently if you get red wine on them - so please don't - that sort of thing. Also, RECYCLES are a real hassle here. Guests must agree to take them home if they brought a lot, leaving a few is fine but must agree to follow the towns strict recycle rules - recycles must be kept clean and separate from garbage. We (i.e. the housekeeper) then have to take them to the dump and separate them into bins by hand. She simply cannot handle this task if large amounts are left. So - our general rule here is similar to camping, if you brought it in, you must agree to take it out! This is a NO SMOKING, and NO PETS (sorry no exceptions) household - is an allergy sensitive home. Kept immaculately clean, so please only very well behaved children. Watercraft is available for use Apr 15-Oct 30. Holidays rates may be higher with longer minimum stays, please inquire. Rates are for 2 guests, $10 per person per day including children. No more than 4 guests in summer, sorry! We can accommodate up to 6 in the winter and spring. Midweek dates offer some great rates. We have many return guests, so if you like it here and want to come back, we offer reduced rates during our non peak dates to our repeat guests. Everything you should need EXCEPT towels and shampoo are supplied Holiday rates are higher and may have a longer minimum stay, please inquire. The beds can sleep up to 6, but during peak dates (summer and holidays) we may have a 4 person maximum - we are doing all we can to keep the plumbing and house in great shape - limiting occupancy is the best way to do this. No parties, family reunions, entertaining in this home, sorry! Located in picturesque southern Adirondack Mountains, Wells is a classic small, quiet town with very few tourists. The lake is rarely busy, you may be the only ones on it, especially midweek! Lake Algonquin is surrounded by mountains, it is a very pretty, clean lake. Great for swimming, kayaking, waterskiing (bring a boat) and fishing. Southern Adirondacks is lake country, so take a drive to the many lakes surrounding us. Antiquing, hiking, white water rafting, kayaking, snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing are all very popular activities. Wells has 3 waterfalls that we provide specific directions to that are very fun to visit.

Gorgeous lakefront spot, large front lawn overlooking peaceful Lake Algonquin. The sight of the fog lifting off the lake in the morning still takes our breath away. There are numerous hikes for both beginners and the more athletically talented in this area, some with beautiful waterfalls. Enjoy fishing, swimming and kayaking off our dock and the nice beachfront. Free tennis and basketball courts, and a public beach in town. The Cottage has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed, the other has a comfy double bed and custom made bunk beds the kids will love. A favorite room is the large screened porch, perfect for enjoying meals or playing cards late into the evening, The lake and mountain views from this property and this porch are unsurpassed! Living room has a wood fireplace, there is an outside fire pit, fully equipped kitchen, gas grill, washer/dryer, dock, row boat, 2 person kayak, paddle boat, Wifi, Netflix and a 47 inch flat screen. No cable TV here though, we come here to get away from the news! The large lawn is a great spot to hang out, it overlooks the beach, dock and lake, has outdoor adirondack chairs, a dining table and a fire pit to roast marshmallows and watch for shooting stars at night. We provide quality linens, towels and many other necessities to make your stay easy and stress free. We have wifi and local land line phone service. No long distance calls can be made from cottage, but can be received. There is Verizon cell service only here in Wells. This has been our family home for 60 years, there are updates (like new bathroom), but for the most part this remains a camp, albeit a very clean and well maintained one, with all the rustic charm that you might expect in an older home. Please note that RECYCLES are a real hassle here. Guests must agree to follow the towns strict recycle rules - they must be kept clean and separate from garbage. We then have to take them to the dump and separate them into bins by hand. We simply cannot handle this task if large amounts are left. So - our general rule here is similar to camping. If you brought it in, you must agree to take it out! Leaving small amounts (less than one clean bag full) are fine, and will be hauled to dump by our fabulous housekeeper. This is 4 hrs from NYC, 1.5 hrs from Albany, 1 hr from Saratoga and Lake George. No smoking, no pets (no exceptions, sorry!), no entertaiing here. We do require all guests to sign and adhere to our rental agreement, follow garbage, watercraft and recycles instructions. Rates quoted are for two persons, $10 fee per additional person per day, this includes children. $300 security deposit. Wells is a sleepy Adirondack town that surrounds the very picturesque Lake Algonquin. Lots of hiking, waterfalls, antiquing and pretty drives around here. We are in the southern Adirondacks, there are many larger lakes surrounding us, museums, a zoo, and nature. Lake Algonquin is surrounded by mountains, is very pretty and quiet. Great for an early morning kayak, warms up quickly so we start swimming there in May.

Get away from civilization and back to nature in this immaculate European style cabin on very pretty and remote Charlie Lake. Can sleep up to 6, but is the perfect romantic spot for two. SPRING, SUMMER and FALL The lake is spring fed, it's clean, refreshing and perfect for a swim, kayak, canoe or paddle board. The lake tends to warm up quicker (and stay warmer longer) than most, so spring and fall swims are common here. Easy lake access from our gradual sloped beach. Relax on the deck with your morning coffee or sit lakeside in the Adirondack chairs. Explore on a hike, unwind in the wood fired steam sauna, fish off the dock, bbq up dinner, then stargaze and share stories by the fire pit. It is simple, peaceful and quiet here. Loons live on this lake. Daily sightings are common, and to hear their call echoing off the mountains is a surreal experience! Owls heard often as well. Hiking opportunities abound, we supply specific directions to our favorite waterfalls and special spots, some a simple walk from the cabin! This is a small, private, non-motorboat lake. Very private spring, fall and winter (mostly just summer camps here). Summer is busier but still very quiet. Our neighbors enjoy the peace as well, and we'd like to keep them happy, so this is NOT the place for a party or loud music. We supply one canoe, one kayak, one stand up paddle board and lake floats. Watercraft is available for use Apr 15-Oct 30. MORE ABOUT THIS CABIN There are 3 bedrooms. Upstairs is an open loft bedroom with queen mattress which is a sleep number so you can adjust firmness on both sides to make both happy! Downstairs are two bedrooms, each with one double bed, one has a single loft bunk, for a total of 4 beds. There is one bathroom (shower only), indoor wood fireplace, outdoor fire pit and a lakeside wood fired steam sauna. The deck sits right over the lake, the view is beautiful. We recently added a hand crafted bar to the deck, perfect for enjoying that morning cup of coffee or afternoon snack while gazing over the lake. The front yard has a sandy entrance to lake with dock great for children and perfect for a swim. The view across the lake is of wooded land and mountains, just a few houses in sight. Comes with Weber charcoal grill, we have an exceptional chefs kitchen with Viking gas stove and convection oven, dishwasher, good dishes and very high quality pots and pans. High speed internet and a landline provided (no cell service here!). Huge flat screen TV for watching Netflix movies, but no cable. Dine at the table for 6 with lake view or eat lakeside on the picnic table. Front lawn has adirondack chairs for drinking in the piece and quiet and the views, more seating found around the fire pit. What's to LOVE? The house has amazing views, is quiet, charming and eco friendly, cabin is new and kept in immaculate condition so even the most discerning should be very pleased. Great privacy for a waterfront home, and on a unusually peaceful mountain lake. We supply detailed lists of where to go and what do to in the area, and the house is very well stocked with things to make your stay easy and breezy - just bring food and we do ask you to bring your own towels. What might you NOT Love? The well water has naturally occurring iron (minerals) in it which turns it a slight yellow color. Although perfectly fine to shower, brush teeth and even drink, we provide filtered drinking water for guest comfort. The eco friendly waterfront septic is too sensitive to allow for use of a washer/dryer - so we don't have them. We provide nice quality linens for the beds, bath mats, hand and kitchen towels, but ask guests to please bring their own bath and beach towels, or, for an additional cleaning fee, we will supply bath towels. There is a laundromat down the road a bit. Also, RECYCLES are a real hassle here. Guests who choose to stay here must agree to take out what they bring in, with the exception of small amounts (less than 1 bag full). For the small amount that you leave, guests must agree to follow the towns strict recycle rules - they must be kept clean and separate from garbage. We (i.e. the housekeeper) then have to take them to the dump and separate them into bins by hand. She simply cannot handle this task if large amounts are left. So - our general rule here is similar to camping - if you brought it in, you must agree to take it out. This is a great retreat for couples or small families. Max 6 persons (includes children). Rates provided are for 2 guests, there is a $10-$15 per person, per day fee for additional persons, regardless of age. This is a NO SMOKING, NO PETS (no exceptions, sorry!), NO PARTIES, allergen free home. Due to the quiet nature of this lake, we ask that guests refrain from outside music or any loud disturbances, particularly at night - sounds carry easily across lakes. This is a great place to find some peace and quiet. WINTER This is a great spot for skiers, snowmobilers, cross country and snowshoe enthusiasts! This cabin was built to take advantage of the beautiful winters here. Very private, you will have the lake mostly to yourselves. There may be a random ice fisher person on the other side of the lake, this lake is known for it's fishing. The Cabin has a cozy Dutch Wood Fireplace that will immediately take the chill off, or, for a full body bone thawing, relax in the lakeside steam sauna. Snowmobiling - we are right on the snowmobile trail, no need to haul sleds anywhere. Snowmobile rentals nearby or bring your own. Thousands of miles of trails from here to Canada! We are on a lesser used trail, so it is not noisy here. Skiing - fabulous, fun, family friendly local Oak Ski Mountain is just 10 minutes away. A unique small town mountain with big ideas, they have sledding and other winter activities for the kids, great food, fun bar and live music! Gore is 40 minute drive. Lapland Lake is one of the best cross country ski resorts in the east, 30 minute drive, Garnett Hiil is also amazing, about 1 hour drive. Sauna - the lakeside wood fired steam sauna is terrific after a cool fall dip in the lake, or after a roll in the snow. Snowshoes - we supply 4 sets - take them across the lake or venture out onto the trails and through the woods! Hiking - we supply a list of fun winter hikes, including a few local waterfalls which are beautiful in winter. We have many return guests, so if you like it here and want to come back, we offer reduced rates during our non peak dates to our repeat guests. This cabin is on a remote lake between 2 small towns. Very quiet. There are other houses, but for direct lakefront there is a nice sense of privacy, and the view is mostly of lake and woods. There are hiking trails directly from here, this is perfect for snowmobilers we're right on the trail! Lots of very pretty waterfalls to hike to, we will share all our local knowledge of the area with guests. This is a spring fed lake, relatively shallow, so warms up nicely in summer and great for swimming. Hike with snowshoes. Read 10 books. Kayak a river. Birdwatch. Antique. BBQ. Play tennis with a lake view. Lots of snow, very private (we are the only house open in winter on our side of the lake - quite possibly on the whole lake, we've never seen anyone), the sauna is tons of fun after a roll in snow. Can snowmobile directly from here onto the amazing snowmobile trails in this area. Oak Mountain Ski Resort is 10 minutes away, it's a family friendly adorable and reasonable resort with amazing food, music and fun year round events. Gore is 40 minute drive. Cross country ski from this house, or visit the infamous Lapland Lake or Garnet Hill resorts. Ice fishing is amazing out front. The house was built for winter comfort. We do suggest bringing an all wheel vehicle to navigate our snowy driveway, it's plowed regularly but you are in the heart of snow country! What's to LOVE? The house is full of charm, is all windows, eco friendly and kept in immaculate condition so that even the most discerning will be pleased. You will enjoy nice privacy for a waterfront home, a peaceful lake view and easy lake access 15 feet from the deck. We supply detailed lists of where to go and what do to in the area, and the house is well stocked with many of those little things you'd have at home, to make your stay easy and breezy - just bring food and we do ask you to bring your own towels. What might you NOT Love? The well water has a lot of naturally occurring iron in it, which creates a slight yellow color to it. The water is perfectly fine to shower, brush teeth and even drink, and we do provide filtered drinking water for guest comfort. The septic is too sensitive to allow for use of a washer/dryer - so we don't have them. We provide nice quality linens for the beds, bath mats and kitchen towels, but ask guests to please bring own bath and beach towels, or, for an additional cleaning fee, we will supply bath towels. There is a laundromat down the road a bit. RECYCLES: are a real hassle in this town. Guests must agree to take home recycles if they bring a lot. A few (less than one bag) can be left, but guests must agree to clean, dry and store them separate from the garbage, we provide bins for them. They then have to be hauled to the dump and again separated (by hand!). Our housekeeper simply cannot handle this task if large amounts are left, so our rule here is similar to camping - if you brought it in, plan to take it out. Please plan your shopping list accordingly. This is a non smoking, no parties, no pets (no exceptions - sorry!), allergen free home. No more than 6 persons, including children. Rates provided are for 2 guests, there is a $10 per person, per day fee for additional persons, regardless of age. All adult guests must agree to read and follow the house instructions, and to sign our rental agreement. Failure to do so may lead to additional fees. We do all we can to provide an EXCEPTIONAL experience for our guests, all we ask in return is that you be mindful of the responsibility of caring for anothers home. We will email a list of house instructions, directions and list of fun things do and places to go one week prior to arrival. Guest AccessEverything Interaction with GuestsWe are available by email, our housemanager is local and available should you need anything while there. The NeighborhoodThis house is relatively remote - very quiet - in winter you would be the only ones on the lake! Great place for finding peace and quiet. We ask that guests mind our neighbors - do not play music outside, and keep noise to a minimum as sounds carry easily across lakes. We have been coming to this area our entire lives, so we supply complete list of where to hike to see waterfalls, skiing, antiquing, snowmobiling, etc. Getting Aroundcar is necessary Other Things to NoteDue to the remote nature of this location, we have well water (no access to town water). There is a lot of iron in the water up here, it is perfectly healthy to use and even to drink, but there is a slight yellow tinge and taste to it. We provide filtered drinking water. Again due to our remote nature and direct waterfront location, we have a sensitive septic system. We cannot have a washer/dryer here as it would overload the system, there is a laundromat down the road about 10 minutes. Guests must bring own towels. Winter is magical here! But best to bring an all wheel vehicle to navigate our woodsy driveway. It is plowed regularly - but this is snow country!

PAYMENT You can pay through Flipkey or TripAdvisor, but please note they add a service charge for this. Your other option is paying us directly by check, or if within 30 days of arrival we take cc plus 3% (that's what it costs us to accept cc). Midweek dates offer some great rates. We have many return guests, so if you like it here and want to come back, we offer reduced rates during our non peak dates to our repeat guests.

We recently added a hand crafted bar to the deck, perfect for enjoying that morning cup of coffee or afternoon snack while gazing over the lake. PAYMENT You can pay through Flipkey or TripAdvisor, but please note they add a service charge for this. Your other option is paying us directly by check, or if within 35 days of arrival we take cc plus 3% (that's what it costs us to accept cc). All guests must agree to and sign our lease agreeing to terms of rental. We have many return guests, so if you like it here and want to come back, we offer reduced rates during our non peak dates to our repeat guests.
