The SpaceGlacier Bear Retreat is a spectacular private residence, located INSIDE of Glacier National Park on the West side of Lake McDonald, a short 7-minute walk to Apgar Village. This storybook cottage, built in 2013, has 4 bedrooms and can easily accommodate 9 people. (Please contact us if you have more than 9 people in your party to discuss options.) You’ll have special rooms for gathering together and cozy nooks for private time, in the perfect combination of indoor and outdoor living. With an outdoor fire pit, a brand new hot tub, hammocks, bicycles, yoga mats, a pool table and a dartboard, at Glacier Bear Retreat you'll have everything you need for a perfect vacation! Located on almost an acre of private property with Fish Creek and Apgar Creek flowing through the property, Glacier Bear is a quiet, private and peaceful haven. Aptly named “Retreat”, Glacier Bear is perfect for nature-loving families who are looking for a quiet place to reconnect with the natural beauty of Glacier National Park. (If you’re looking for a party house, this isn’t the place for you.) In the more than (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) acres that comprise Glacier National Park, there are only 124 private landowners, and combined, these parcels equal less than 300 acres. Owning a home inside Glacier is rare; staying in one as a guest is even more so. And because you'll be staying inside the park, you won't need to wait in long lines - sometimes over an hour long - to get through the entrance station every day, letting you relax the entire time you're on vacation! **Luxurious Amenities & Accommodations Over Three Floors** This storybook cottage in the woods was designed and built as the perfect place to create memories, so your Glacier holiday is one of your best vacations ever. From the welcome basket waiting for you, to the fully stocked bar and rec room, we want you to feel like you’re on vacation. From bathroom amenities like soap, shampoo and bubble bath, to the warm, cozy down comforters, we want you to feel like you’re at home. The main floor contains the Great Room, the Dining Room, the Chef’s Kitchen, the Lazy Bear Master Suite with private bath, a powder room, and a hallway with reading nook and library shelves. Most of these books came from the original Grist home and date back as far as the early 1800’s. You are welcome to enjoy them with care while you’re here. From the main level you can also easily access the screened porch for outdoor grilling, dining or simply relaxing. The upper level contains the Grist Room queen bedroom, the Bunk Room, a shared bathroom, and a small desk on the mezzanine above the Great Room. The lower level Rec Room is your recreation destination with a Olhausen pool table and our beautiful custom built bar, showcasing local Montana spirits and beers as well as fine wines from California, Oregon and Washington. The Garden Room queen bedroom and a separate bathroom finish off the level. You can also experience Glacier’s beauty just by walking outside from the main level. Our wraparound screened porch has a large dining table with plenty of seating as well as a high quality gas grill. Outdoor living at Glacier Bear Retreat is as good as it gets - we have 6 bicycles, 2 closed kayaks, hammocks, yoga mats, a large fire pit, and even your own “private island” with picnic table all available for your use. Plus, our brand new Caldera hot tub is perfect for relaxing after a long day of hiking! Upstairs or downstairs, indoors or out, you can be as connected as you want to be, whether that’s not at all or in touch with family, friends, or others using our fast wifi network, our landline with unlimited US long-distance calls, or your AT&T or Verizon mobile phone. Guest AccessYou will be renting the entire home. Please note that the owner's closet will be locked and off-limits. Interaction with GuestsI'll meet you upon arrival and will be available by phone for questions or for assistance during your stay. We're here to make your vacation at Glacier Bear Retreat your best one ever! The NeighborhoodGlacier National Park is by far the most beautiful National Park in the USA in my opinion. John Muir called it "the most care-killing scenery on the continent". Ernie Pyle said he "wouldn't trade one square mile of Glacier for all the other National Parks combined". Yes, it's that special. And, Glacier Bear Retreat is located INSIDE the park! Regardless of the season, Glacier Bear Retreat is perfectly located as your base for exploring the wonders of Glacier National Park. Just steps away from breathtaking Lake McDonald, you can fill your day with recreational boating (rentals available), fishing, swimming, or photographing the range of mountain peaks that frame the lake. You’re only a few minutes walk from the town of Apgar, where you can grab a morning coffee, an ice cream, enjoy the offerings of the café or shop in the gift shops. We’re also connected to miles of paved trails leading into the town of West Glacier (about 3 miles away), so you’ll have ample opportunities for easy hiking and mountain biking too. Or, just hang out by the stream, make yummy s'mores, pick huckleberries, curl up in the window seat and read a book, or just rest, relax and enjoy the beauty that is Glacier Bear Retreat. Getting AroundFrom Glacier International Airport (FCA) in Kalispell, you'll need to rent a car to get to Glacier National Park. (Alternately, you can take Amtrak to the West Glacier train station instead of flying.) You'll be able to park at the house for most of the year; from January 1st to March 15th, the road to our home is closed and unplowed, with the nearest parking a quarter mile away. Once in the Park, you can either drive or use the Park Service shuttle system to get around. Other Things to NoteWe realize that once folks know about Glacier Bear Retreat, it will book very quickly as there’s nothing like it in the Park. If you are interested in creating memories at Glacier for your family or friends, please make your reservation today to hold your space!

The SpaceThe Cabin was built in 1977 by the original owner and sits on two acres 17 miles south of the Canadian border in one of the most pristine wilderness areas in the US. This is a great place for artistic inspiration and personal serenity so bring your pencil, instrument and paints. Equally romantic, it's a perfect getaway for two, or for a few friends to reunite. Our cabin also serves as a great launching site for any hike into the backcountry of Glacier. The interior has an open floor plan with two lofts with beds. Main floor has a refrigerator, oven and gas stove top, wood stove for heat and gas lights. There is also plenty of candle light! Make yourself at home and please try and give a little back if you need extras of anything. The cabin will be well stocked to make you feel comfortable. We typically won't have the chance to greet guests upon arrival, although we'd love to be there all the time! We will prepare visitors for their stay prior to arrival, highlighting the need for mindfulness. This is a very special place for all of us that come up here so good old fashioned respect comes easy. Notes for the cabin will be there when you arrive. What an unexpected village in the middle of nowhere...that touches people from everywhere. From birding and biking to floating and fishing, this North West entrance to Glacier National Park is truly an authentic Montana experience. The North Fork valley of the Flathead is home to one of the most intact ecosystems in North America. You will be living amongst wolves to wolverines and grizzly bears to mountain lions. Walking distance to great food at the Northern Lights Saloon, fresh baked goods and coffee and anything else you may need at the historic "Mercantile". You can also rent boats, paddle boards and bikes at North Fork Rentals downtown next to the Mercantile. Taxis deliver guests from Glacier International Airport for a steep price. We suggest bringing your own transit to allow you the freedom to see it all. The warm glow of the gas lights provides a nighttime energy makes you appreciate the inventions of the past. An indoor privy on a septic system (which is considered gold in the North Fork) is a luxury. And, we have one heck of a good wood stove/fireplace. Showers are available at the North Fork Hostel in Polebridge and at the Home Ranch Bottoms Store 6 miles south of town. We prefer to take our baths by heating up water on the stove and using a washcloth in the old fashioned Bird Bath Technique. Clean and conservative and rather effective. These are the type of things that make the North Fork so special for so many of us. Guest AccessMake yourself at home and please try and give a little back if you need extras of anything. Serving as the western gateway to Glacier National Park, West Glacier is "guide central" with many adventures in and around the park beginning and ending in West Glacier. Local guides are available for hikes, whitewater rafting, scenic floats, fly-fishing adventures, overnight excursion and heli-tours. In the summer months, this bustling community has Montana-minded shops, great local dining and numerous accommodations. While limited services are available in winter, West Glacier is an ideal launching point for discovering the park's quieter season and provides resources and lodging for cross-country skiing, skijoring and snowshoeing in and around the park.

Enjoy the beauty of Glacier Park, Montana in the historic "off the grid" town of Polebridge. Visit the historic mercantile, experience wildlife, raft/kayak the North Fork of the Flathead River, and enjoy a unique and pristine wilderness experience. The cabin is located next door to Glacier National Park (1 mile to the entrance) and a quarter mile walk to the North Fork of the Flathead River or to the infamous Polebridge Mercantile and Northern Lights Saloon, a great place for an elk burger, wild salmon, and a local brew. The cabin sits in a quiet meadow near the end of the road. The deck is the perfect location for coffee in the morning and cocktails during sunset. The cabin is fully furnished, complete with an outhouse, awesome wood stove, indoor bathtub, propane range, heater, and fridge. Electrical outlets provide minimal electricity, but enough for your coffee grinder and a few lamps. The kitchen includes an old style pitcher pump so you can access water from the well. It is drinkable and will fill your shower bags! Amazing, pure spring water is also available just a half mile up the road. Activities around the cabin and Polebridge include but are not limited to......HIKING, Walking, BIKING, RUNNING, FISHING, reading, meeting neighbors, hanging out at the mercantile for morning coffee, cooking good food, going out to dinner at the saloon, eating pastries at the Mercantile, boating on the river, finding cool rocks on the river, climbing peaks, sleeping, RELAXING! There is a boat rental business open during the summer months, it's called North Fork Boat Rentals. They have a tiny shed next to the Mercantile. You can rent a paddle board, an inflatable kayak or a tandem sea kayak! Polebridge Meadow is a perfect neighborhood, with approximately 15 cabins. It's our quaint town site, most people live elsewhere and have vacation cabins here. It's busier in the summer, with great people up here on the weekends. July and August are the busiest tourist months, June and September less busy. The roads are maintained year round, and winter driving tends to be good. Fly into Glacier International Airport in Kalispell, Montana. The local kids who work at the mercantile can sometimes provide car shuttles for river trips. You must coordinate with them when you get up there! I will not be able to meet you in person but am happy to email and/or talk on the phone prior to or after your visit. The property managers however, live nearby and may be available should you have questions or concerns during your stay. You will have a few neighbors, but they are not super close by and they are friendly folks. You will be close to the river and the mercantile. Please Note: You must provide your own linens and toiletries. Renters must provide own linens and toiletries. Absolutely no smoking allowed on premises. Long term renters must provide own gas and wood. Winter renters need to provide own generator which can be easily hooked up to the solar system. Please note - This is a rustic cabin, OFF the grid, with no cell phone service. Longer term tenants should be prepared to do some general upkeep. Knowledge about fixing things, using propane, etc... and living off the grid will be helpful. Long term winter renters may negotiate the monthly rate. Just 25 miles south of the Canadian border near a remote, backcountry entrance to Glacier National Park. Located near the end of one of four lanes in Polebridge, Montana, on the western edge of the park.

A full kitchen, 2 bedrooms each with a luxurious queen bed and a full bath with tub/shower. There is a private deck off the master bedroom and another deck off the main living area. Both have beautiful views. Guest AccessThere is a keypad box where you are provided with the code. The key is inside the box for easy access at any time. Interaction with GuestsI am not usually on site but have a manager who looks after four cabins that I have available. He is wonderful with all sorts of information about Glacier National Park and the activities in the area. The NeighborhoodNuma Peak is less than a mile from Glacier National Park, Montana as the crow flies and less than 3 miles from the Bowman Lake entrance into the park. There are hundreds of miles of hiking trails, amazing vistas, diverse wildlife right out the door and activities are endless. Getting AroundIf you are only coming to the cabin and staying on the main roads in the National Park then most cars will provide access to the cabin. If you have even a little of the adventurer in you then I would recommend 4 wheel drive to allow even more access to the hidden treasures that abound. Other Things to NoteNuma Peak is making every attempt to be green. Water is from a well on the property, energy is provided by 2 sets of large solar panels. We try to encourage "green behaviours" while visiting.
