All living areas look out over the garden an ever changing palette of colour. Glass double doors open onto the terrace giving an easy indoor/outdoor flow allowing easy access to pool area, a lovely retreat!
In the colder weather or been skiing for the day come back to the warmth of a log fire, cosy as!!
A free continental buffet breakfast is included in your stay. We have three areas inside the house for eating, the kitchen, diningroom and a conservatory area in sitting room two, if the sun is out you may prefer to have breakfast in the garden or by the pool.
Halkett Road runs between the Main West Coast Road and the Old West Coast Road.

Guests are welcome to eat and socialize with us however, if you prefer some 'down time' no probs, we are happy to accommodate.
In the summertime, we spend our time around the pool or in the garden. Our evenings can be spent enjoying a glass of wine/beer and a BBQ, you are welcome to share in these facilities.
Richard and Christine have travelled around the North and South islands and would be happy to help with your travel plans in any way they can or chat in general.
If you like playing pool/snooker or darts, feel free to suggest a game. We are always happy to socialize.
You may wish to help yourself to a book from the bookcase, magazines from the basket, watch TV, listen to the radio, or just enjoy the garden, make yourself at home relax and enjoy!
Tea and coffee are available for your use in the kitchen, please help yourself. The NeighborhoodIt is a peaceful neighbourhood.
Chester Oaks is a good mid way distances from Christchurch CBD and the ski fields. Only 15 minutes from Christchurch International airport and 10 minutes west of Christchurch. Chester Oaks is a great place to stay for a while, use as a base venture out for day trips Selwyn District is 20 minutes from Christchurch, home to Arthur's Pass National Park, wineries, golf, walking and skiing.
If skiing/snowboarding is for you then Porters and Mount Hutt ski fields are a scenic 40/45 minute drive,enjoy a day on the slopes and come back to the warmth of a log fire.
You will find numerous local wineries/restaurants including Langdale Vineyard, Milton Estate Winery and True Daring only 5/10 minutes drive.
If the outdoors/action is for you, visit Mcleans Island recreation area 10 minutes drive. Additional regional attractions include International Antarctic Centre and Riccarton house, the choice is yours. With so much to see and do why not stay a while visit our many attractions, walks, tours, numerous restaurants, bars, shopping outlets, go sightseeing and enjoy the beautiful scenery of New Zealand, then come back to the sanctuary of Chester Oaks where you are sure of a warm welcome every time. We have two family pet dogs Mellie and Tui both are Lab cross. The dogs have their own fenced run at the side of the house they are very friendly however, they will need to be introduced to you first.They enjoy playing catch with the tennis ball in the rear paddock and like nothing more than being taken out for a walk.
If you are a dog lover then the dogs can be left out sometimes to run around however, if you are not a dog lover you do not have to come into contact with them, they have an enclosed area.
