The SpaceThis cottage-style cape began its life as a farm’s creamery. Guests can make an easy circle from the entrance throughout the first floor--living room, dining room, kitchen, and sunroom. With 2 bedrooms and a sitting room couch that opens to a double bed, 4 people would probably fit most comfortably; it is possible to house 2 couples and an additional single or couple, but might feel a bit small. Guest AccessEach season offers particular attractions: spring and summer invite one to take walks, head to the beach, ride bikes, or sit on the deck and experience the wonders of a “bird sanctuary.” Fall’s stunning foliage can be seen in travels throughout New England; winter offers opportunities to ski, snowshoe, skate, or to enjoy the warmth of an afternoon’s reading with a break for tea. Newburyport offers history, fine dining, and fun shopping. Also included: free wi-fi; cable tv in sitting room and master bedroom; dvd player in sitting room; full range of kitchen appliances, cookware and utensils, including a blender, coffee maker and dishwasher. There is one bathroom with shower and bath upstairs, one-quarter bath downstairs; the sitting room couch opens to a double bed, good for those unable to climb the stairs. Interaction with GuestsGuests will be greeted upon arrival, but will be left alone for duration of stay. Help will be available 24/7. The NeighborhoodThough only one mile from I-95, the cottage is surrounded by nature. The Emery House Retreat Center is across the street; Maudslay Park is within walking distance; the pristine National Wildlife Refuge (Plum Island) with its 7-mile shoreline is only a 16-minute drive (URL HIDDEN) popular downtown Newburyport, a 12-minute drive. Getting AroundWith I-95 just one mile up the street, Boston can be reached in 40 minutes, Portsmouth in 25, and Portland, Maine in an hour and 10 minutes. Buses to Logan Airport and South Station, Boston depart from C&J’s bus terminal on the junction of I-95; the Boston & Maine railroad with regular trains to Boston and other North Shore towns is a 4-mile drive. Amtrak to Portland, Maine (with stops along the way) runs from a town next to West Newbury, Haverhill, 9.6 miles door-to door. Other Things to NoteNewburyport offers special events during the year, such as the "Taste Newburyport Tours" ((URL HIDDEN) which runs throughout the fall. The SpaceThe house was built in the late 1700s. We live here from time to time with two rough and tumble outdoorsy children and a black lab pup, so please forgive any minor cosmetic imperfections. We love it here! We spend most of our time outside, and so we keep it pretty simple inside. We hope you will enjoy kicking your feet up a bit here, too. Guest AccessMaster bedroom, downstairs bath, kitchen, and all living areas. Interaction with GuestsWe're happy to offer suggestions on how to make the best of your visit to the area. The NeighborhoodNewton is a small town with friendly folks who mostly keep to themselves. Getting AroundYou'll need a car to get here, though we are 15-20 minutes from train stations in Haverhill and Newburyport. Other Things to NoteA black lab pup lives happily here from time to time. Please be sure no one in your party has pet allergies.
