The SpaceWe have been told repeatedly by our guests that this vacation home finds itself in an ideal location for a Portland getaway AND that it feels like home. Features include: Welcome Snacks Eco-Friendly Bath & Cleaning Products Turkish Cotton Towels Pool Table Herb Garden Compost & Recycling Off-Street Parking for Several Cars Quiet & Safe Neighborhood BBQ Grill & Al Fresco Dining Washer/Dryer Very Well-Supplied Kitchen Pet-Friendly REALLY CLEAN A lovingly cared for, spacious, comfy, cozy house with lots of amenities like bbq grill, awesome deck, large yard, well supplied kitchen, board games, Apple TV. Simple, chic, and well-appointed with plenty of room to spread out. 15 minutes to downtown on a quiet residential street with friendly neighbors. Avoid the crazy parking and noise of Portland and stay just over the border in Westbrook in our peaceful residential home - a quick 15 minutes to downtown Portland. It's an easy hop on the freeway to LL Bean 20 minutes away. Or perhaps you'd like to hit the beaches - you have your choice of several within a 25 minute drive. You'll find two groceries stores within a mile and many restaurant options nearby. Your favorite parts of the house will be the outrageously comfy beds, the sunny rooms, the awesome back deck for morning coffee and evening wine and entertaining, spacious bathroom with quasi-rain shower head and unlimited hot water, shiny hardware floors, crown molding, and quiet residential street. You'll also enjoy the Ikea kitchen and bathroom, the teak dining room set, the Crate & Barrel living room couch, and, for chilly fall & winter nights, a gas fired fireplace. In summer, enjoy the fire pit out back. We have put a lot of thought into making this house feel like a home for our guests. If you have an appreciation for the European way (quality, simplicity, design), this is a nice place to rest while in town. You will note that the house sleeps 5. We have a small 3rd bedroom with a futon, which is perfect for a couple of small children, a teen, or a 5th adult who doesn't mind the smaller space. Keep in mind there is only 1 bathroom, so if you are staying for an extended trip, you may want a larger space than what we can offer. We have provided many kitchen appliances - rice cooker, Ninja blender, food processor, ice tea maker, large slow cooker, waffle iron, immersion blender, toaster oven, French press coffee maker (no grinder), water kettle, and even a fondue set. And of course, the kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, gadgets, utensils, sheet trays, and lots more. If you like to cook, you'll enjoy the kitchen and being able to cook dinner and watch the news at the same time on the 26" TV. Enjoy reliable WiFi and a 42" TV with Apple TV with basic channels in the sun room, which is a favorite room in the house. It's a cozy space to relax with family and friends. The crème de la crème is the back yard. You'll love to put your feet up and lounge on the back deck. And don't forget the gas grill for dining al fresco. If you like flowers, there is a full perennial garden out back. Whatever you choose, the air is fresh, and life is good! You'll enjoy parking in the driveway and not having to worry about living in the city where street parking is no fun. You'll also love the neighborhood - it's so quiet and safe on the dead-end street, and the neighbors are very friendly. The airport and bus stations are also very close by. About 10 minutes, each, by taxi. Providing you with responsive, reliable, and friendly service is what we're all about. I'm the owner and my very handy partner is Mike. He fixes anything that goes wrong and mows the lawn, while I make sure that the house is clean and comfortable. *Please note, due to the volume of inquiries, we do not do holds on this house. Until you make and pay for a booking, the home is considered available to other parties. We recommend reviewing the calendar for available dates and making a booking as soon as you are committed. Thank you for your understanding. Chris & Mike Guest AccessGuests have the house to themselves including a well-stocked kitchen with pots, pans, gadgets, utensils, dishes, bowls, baking sheets, supplies like aluminum foil and cling wrap, hand towels, paper towels, dish and dishwasher detergent, cabinet storage space, and all of the aforementioned appliances. It is our second home, so everything we'd need to spend the night and create gorgeous meals is there - even salt and pepper, a few vinegars and oils, and a selection of teas. We've also provided conveniences like all bed and bath linens, plus extras like shampoo, body lotion, conditioner, tissues, and even a sewing kit for when you need it. It should feel like home. And on that note, there are visitor guides galore to help you familiarize yourself with the area. You can take care of all of your laundry while you're here, too. Arrivals welcome to check in at 3PM, with checkout at 11am. No smoking, please. Interaction with GuestsWe're always available by text, email or phone anytime you need us! We find that guests find the check-in and out process very easy and that meeting is not necessary. However, we're attentive and want to make sure you have what you need. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is the best!! Everyone is friendly, it's kid friendly, and there is lots of street parking. Only 1/2 mile from the Portland border, it's the best of suburban living. Getting AroundThe bus stop is just at the end of the street and takes you right into downtown Portland. Guests have reported that it's pretty easy, but having a car is definitely an asset if you're planning on doing a bunch of sightseeing. Other Things to NoteI lived in this house by myself for the last 5 out of 6 years. I turned it into a vacation rental after a month-long trip to California, where renting it was a necessity. While away, the rental requests kept coming at a furious pace, and I kept accepting. Upon returning home, I needed a place to live, so Mike & I purchased a small condo! Turning my home into a vacation rental has been the most fun. Upgrades are continual and my attention never waivers from making my home a home for you. This property has been completely renovated over the last 6 years including new siding, bathroom, kitchen, lighting, paint, decks, and landscaping. Our lifestyle approach is very much a sustainable one, with chemical use at a minimum, recycled products at a maximum, and the overall tone of our house being one of European design.

The SpaceWe are offering a private room with double bed, private bath and reading nook in a renovated 200-year-old house on 25 acres of wooded land just outside of Portland, Maine. We are located on the outskirts of Portland, about a 20min drive from the center of downtown and just a few miles from several breweries. We are just across the street from a drive-in theater and are on the rout out to the lakes region. Our cozy room with private bath and reading nook feel like their own little separate part of the house so you can interact with us as little or as much as you like. We love pets and have two cats of our own (though we keep them out of your room). Our property has 25 acres as well as another 70 acres of abutting protected land with trails and a stream, so bring along your dogs (we just ask that they are well behaved and can get along with or ignore our kitties)! We provide a nice long dog run as well as a fenced pen with doghouse if you need to leave your dog for the day. There is also ample parking on our property, so if you are hauling a boat or trailer we can accommodate you! Guest AccessYou will be able to access your room from the front door (not our main entrance so its all yours) which opens up right into your own little wing of the house and into the kitchen where we will happily make you some coffee in the morning! You are welcome to drink that coffee in our cozy plant-filled kitchen-living-breakfast-room or take advantage or our lovely screened in porch and back deck. There is also ample lawn space or feel free to wander through the woods! Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to help in any way possible, usually one of us is always around. We also have some very quiet renters who live in an apartment above our barn, you will likely never see them but we do ask that noise levels are kept to a respectful level so as not to bother them. We are happy to chat and are also more than happy to let you sneak in and out undisturbed! The NeighborhoodWe are located on a fairly busy road, however we are set back from that road quite a ways and are hidden by trees. There is a drive-in theater across the street, several breweries down the road as well as a few businesses and several small houses. Getting AroundWe are located about 2 miles from a park and ride into Portland, but you will need a car to stay with us! We are a 20min drive from the airport and South Portland, 20min from Portland's downtown area, 30min from Freeport and 20min or so from Windham. Other Things to NoteWe are open to having young children stay, but we do ask that they are supervised at all times!

Sometimes we leave a car parked in the driveway, but otherwise feel free to park closest to the home on the left side of the driveway. Interaction with GuestsIf any questions or issues arise please message or call and I am almost always available to help out! On occasion, we do return to our basement apt to access our adventure gear or sleep for a short stay depending on our work schedules. It's possible you might see us outside the home but we always give our guests utmost privacy (most guests never even notice us). If you want to pick our brains about local restaurants and activities we're happy to stop by or simply send info via a message. Interaction with GuestsMy schedule varies as will the time I spend in the house or grounds but I am always available by phone or text if you have questions. I aim to be available and responsive for my guests and will always try to reply right away. My friendly roommates are also more than happy to help with questions when necessary. I’m happy to offer suggestions of places to visit or eat or you can just come, relax, and do your own thing. The NeighborhoodOur sweet Victorian neighborhood is tucked into a corner of Westbrook that is surprisingly quiet given how conveniently located we are to the highway and so many resources. We are a short hop to Hannaford and Shaw’s supermarkets, restaurants like Casa Novella (Italian), Frog and Turtle (excellent fare and variety often with live music), Siam Square and Kon (Thai), Stockhouse (pub), Fajita Grill (Mexican) as well as pizza hot spots, fast food, a European market, plus gourmet chocolate to name just a few. There are also pharmacies, department stores, and most anything you need here in town. If Westbrook doesn’t have it, the mall area is only 2.5 miles and Portland is only 4 miles away and will have anything you could need. The SpaceThe house is walking distance to the best of Westbrook, including a few restaurants, an ice cream shop, and the Riverwalk. There's a nice little walking trail right next to the house that goes down to river. Visit the neighbor's goats on your way down and the bike shop next door. It's the perfect spot for anyone who wants to explore Portland and find some peace and quiet away from the old port craziness afterwards! **October update: There is currently construction on our street, expected to last until November. The work begins at about 7 am on weekdays and no work on the weekends. The noise/disturbance level varies day to day based on the area of the street they are working on that day (it is a long street). Guest AccessAccess to private bedroom and two shared bathrooms. Kitchen, decks, grill and yard are all available for use. Plenty of street parking, but feel free to use the driveway if there is construction in front of the house when you arrive. If you'd like to check in before 3, just ask. If there aren't other guests that day then it shouldn't be a problem! Other Things to NoteI share my home with a dog and three cats (all friendly and sweet). Guests should be animal friendly and unfortunately I cannot accommodate guests traveling with their pets at this time.
