Closest Beach is Playa Del Rey, it is a quaint beach town with a family oriented feel, it is about six minutes drive from Villa Harmony. It is easy to find free parking on the weekdays but could challenging on weekends. Playa Del Rey is a perfect spot to bicycling along the ocean bike path going south all the way to Redondo Beach. I recommend you stop for a quick yummy lunch at Martha's on 22nd in Hermosa Beach.
Marina del Rey, is located about a ten minutes drive Northwest. It is L.A's upscale boat harbor, take a stroll, paddle kayak or paddle boat, enjoy a sunset sail! A quaint part of Marina Del Rey is Fisherman's Village where you'll find the following:
Bicycle rentals are available from 'Daniel's Bicycle Rental & Sales'
Live Music: Free concerts on the weekends are held in fountain square Jazz, Funk, Blues, Reggae, Rockabilly, Salsa and Rock.
Dining: 'El Torito' (Mexican), 'Angler's Choice' (Seafood) and 'Sapori' (Italian) Cafe Al Fresco', 'Thai Garden Cafe' and 'Lighthouse Grill'

Venice Beach, about a 15 minute drive Northwest has a countercultural vibe and a perpetual carnival of dancers, drummers and street performers. Just inland from the beach a trendy Abbot Kinney Blvd lined with cafes, boutiques and restaurants. Best coffee and coolest place at Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea.
Santa Monica, about a 20 minutes drive North has plenty to offer for tourists. The colorful city of Santa Monica is sandwich between Venice and Malibu along the beautiful coastline of the Pacific Ocean. Shopping here is a must! with three destinations (with over hundred different shops). You have 3rd Street Promenade, Montana Ave and Main Street. The Santa Monica Pier features the famous Pacific Park: a family amusement park with a large Ferris wheel, a vintage carousel built in the 1920s, an aquarium, shops, entertainers, an arcade, a pub, and restaurants. The Santa Monica Pier is a must-see destination for those visiting Southern California.
Malibu is located 24 miles away and along the beautiful Pacific Coast Highway and stretches for 27 miles along the coast. The beaches in Malibu are extra beautiful and well worth a visit.
Other favorite destinations in Malibu:
Zuma Beach. Eat at the Reel Inn or Taverna Tony's (Greek). Visit Malibu Country Mart, a local hangout and wine tasting at Malibu Family Wines.
Now taking a turn and going south from Villa Harmony.
Manhattan Beach, a 15 minutes drive and one of my favorite destinations. The most upscale of the South Bay beach towns, Manhattan Beach's vibe is urban, with lots of volleyball nets, boutiques, restaurants, cafes a pier and surfers. The oceanfront homes, with paved walkways for pedestrians and bicycles are a sight of it's own.
Hermosa Beach is the neighboring beach city with a softer touch and a more quiet vibe.
Next Beach over is Redondo Beach. Kayaking, swimming, bike cycling and sport fishing are popular activities in Redondo. While visiting make sure to visit the Pier: fishermen's fishing poles all over the railing, and once in a while you'll see someone reel in a catch. You'll also find restaurants and fast-food stands here, along with souvenir shops.
Keep driving south and you'll get to the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It has a spectacular coastline and views. It is a 26.3 square mile, located about 23 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. One of the most beautiful destinations in Southern California, things to see are Point San Vicente Lighthouse, Terranea Resort, Cielo Point Pool, Bluff Top Trail, Abalone Cove State Beach, watch the Sunset, golfing at Trump National Golf Course and much more.
San Pedro, Los Angeles Harbor (22 miles) is the departing port for many cruise lines, such as Celebrity Cruises, Costa Cruise Lines, Crystal Cruises, the Cunard Line, the Disney Cruise Line, the Holland America Line, the Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, Princess Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, and Catalina Express, along with other cruise lines offer frequent sailings that make San Pedro the busiest passenger port of call on the United States West Coast. Most Carnival Cruise Lines and some of the Princess Cruise ships depart from next port over in Long Beach, California
Long Beach is about 23 miles away and home of the RMS Queen Mary, a 1936 Art Deco ocean liner. The nonprofit Aquarium of the Pacific is located across the water from the Long Beach Convention Center, Shoreline Village, and the Queen Mary Hotel.
The Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden is located on the campus of California State University, Long Beach.
Long Beach offers singing gondolier trips through the romantic canals of Naples. Enjoy concerts at Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center. The Pike Amusement Zone at the Pier might be worth a visit.
The Long Beach Grand Prix in April during the same weekend as the Grand Prix, there is also an United SportsCar Series race, a Formula D round and the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race.

Water skiing in July, there is the annual Catalina Ski Race, which starts from Long Beach Harbor and goes to Catalina Island and back.
Newport Beach: From sunset cruises to surf lessons, wine tastings to harbor-front promenades. Enjoy picturesque views of California’s sunrise and sunset. Newport Beach offers fishing, swimming, surfing, and aquatic sports activities. Newport Beach is a seaside oasis with its elegance, modern shopping and stunning residential landscape.
Disneyland Park, 37 miles away and originally namned Disneyland, is the first of two theme parks built at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA, the other one is Disney California Adventure Park.
Laguna Beach: About an hour south of Los Angeles, Laguna Beach has a spectacular cliff top setting above some of the finest beaches in California. Outdoor enthusiasts can snorkel, scuba dive, body-surf, or hike the trails in nearby Laguna Coast Wilderness Park. A center for artists, there are a number of special events and festivals. The Laguna Art Museum focuses on California artists. Window shoppers and collectors will enjoy strolling the village’s quaint streets, as well as visiting galleries spotted along Pacific Coast Highway.
