The SpaceSunny first floor of a true Federal Style Vermont Farm House dating from 1797! includes: seven rooms (1542 sf): south and west facing bedroom, adjoining large bathroom, updated kitchen, south facing dining room, and separate living room. Listen to the soothing sound of Roger's Brook out your bedroom window. Walk, ski, run, or mountain bike on our private trails that traverse open pasture and forest. Venture further on miles of trails that lead to the huge V.A.S.T system designed for snowmobilers but allow in our case access to skiers, walkers, mountain bikers, geocachers, trail runners, and horseback riders. For you long distance runners looking to get in your miles. The Town of Westford is blessed with miles and miles and miles of dirt roads perfect for your knees and your training runs. Finally since the Farm House sits at the "end of the road" in a beautifully secluded location next to hundreds of acres of undeveloped forest you should be able to see the stars like never before! And yet for all this quiet and solitude you are only 7.8 miles from the grocery store, adventure park with zip lines, pharmacy, cinema, shops, even a 7 million dollar spa and indoor pool at The Essex for your day use if you feel so inclined, Downhill skiing is not far: 25 minutes to Smuggler's Notch puts you on the lift there, Stowe Mountain Resort, Trapp Family Lodge, Bolton Valley, and Jay Peak are all easy day trips. In the other direction discover amazing Lake Champlain, the sixth Great Lake in the U.S. with a myriad of recreational opportunities. As a rock and ice climber I can point you in the right direction for those local activities as well. For those who are looking for night life, Burlington is a hip college town with lots of offerings. With one queen sized bed in the Master Bedroom, one queen sized futon and one queen sized leather sleep sofa the Farm House can accomodate 3 couples quite comfortably. Guest AccessPlease keep out of the old barns, sheds, basement, and second floor for safety sake. Park at the head of the driveway near the small barn in order to keep the driveway itself clear. Depending upon the season there may be local farmers using that driveway to access the large hay meadow right behind the Farm House. BTW that meadow is a great place to walk for views of Camel's Hump( Vt's 2nd tallest peak) Roger's Road right in front of the House is an ancient road that once was the main thoroughfair from the Town of Westford to the Town of Milton. You may discover some old foundations, and beaver ponds. There are posted signs along this route so stick to the old road which is definitely designated a recreational trail by the Town of Westford. As a bonus adventure for my guests I like to set up a Geocaching course here on the farm using your smart phone's GPS to find hidden "treasures". Just let me know if this is something you are interested in! Also I have a fire pit for your use as well out by the old milk house. Sit by the camp fire and watch the stars explode across the evening sky. Interaction with GuestsI try my best to greet all my guests and to get them settled when they arrive at the Farm House. In order to expedite this please give us about an hour's heads up(call or text) prior to arrival. I provide freshly baked bread( my own or local), eggs, butter, half & half, and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters' coffee for the morning. Please call me and or text anytime of the day or night if you have a concern or question. Use your cell phone or the house phone (corded )to contact me. Don't worry about the time of day you contact me. I am happy to respond. I am here to make your stay an enjoyable one. The NeighborhoodWestford is one of the 251 small towns of Vermont. We are blessed with lots of dirt roads and not a single traffic light. We have a town green with its Civil War memorial statue, library, white clapboard, steepled Congregational Church, town office, and on the green itself an ice hockey rink in the winter, concert venue and Monday's (3:30-6:30) farmers market in summer months. Not far from the green we have our own historic wooden covered bridge. Nearby check out the quintessential Vermont town of Jericho Center, Vermont 05465 with its country store opened in 1807. Getting Aroundbring your car, truck, van, camper, motorcycle, bicycle, mountain bike, running shoes, hiking boots, flip flops, barefeet. In this modern era of hyper technology the smart phones enabled with turn by turn directions. Maps seem to direct guests almost effortlessly from wherever they are coming from. If you like I can go back to the traditional odometer and "third sugar maple tree from the fork in the road" method. If you are coming from our local airport in Burlington, Vermont you are going to have to either arrange for someone to pick you up, or rent a vehicle. Other Things to NoteI have recently installed ChromeCast on the TV which is an amazing little device that once you connect your device (computer, ipad, iphone, smart phone) to my wireless network ( wired available as well) you can stream your content from Netflix, Hulu, Pandora to the TV! I have had a guest watching his favorite Star Trek episodes streamed from his IPhone! Of course going for a walk on miles of trails out the door is an option as well :). Please note that the internet connection (slow DSL) while able to handle a single Netflix movie, Pandora, and emails is not robust enough for handling large files. Dont plan on working on your feature film or CAD files with your colleagues back at the office. Such is the blessing of being in such a lovely rural setting.
