The SpaceThe Yurt is tastefully decorated with quality furnishings. A wonderful camping experience with all the luxuries of home. Relax and enjoy a steamy hot bath outside under the stars in a gorgeous 100 yr old bath heated by way of an old copper, wood fired, water boiler. A clear dome adorns the top of the Yurt so you can enjoy the stars on a clear night from the super comfortable queen size bed. At the moment we do not have hot running water but there is an indoor shower (cold) which is very refreshing in those hot summer days. Guest AccessThe Yurt is fully self contained and self catering. We offer a complimentary continental breakfast however others meals can be provided by arrangement. It operates completely off the grid but has Solar lighting and a place to charge your Mob ph (if you really cant do without it) . Wheelchair friendly access. Interaction with GuestsYour hosts Bruce and Josy will be available during your stay if you need any assistance or information. The NeighborhoodWe are situated only 50 mins south of Auckland CBD. Take a beautiful drive through the quaint little village of Clevedon which hosts a number of craft shops and has a local Farmers market every Sunday morning. Then travel on through Kawakawa bay towards Orere Point. Our property boarders on to one of Aucklands most beautiful Regional Parks - Tapapakanga which has a lovely sandy swimming beach and is a great fishing spot. Tapapakanga is situated on the north western shores of the Firth of Thames. This coast is also known as the Sea Bird Coast and is popular with Birdwatchers from all around the world. It is also part of the Kayak Trail - starting from Maraetai and finishing in Waharau. You can complete the whole 4 day trail or just have a leisurely paddle around the shoreline exploring all the hidden little coves. A five min drive takes you to a very popular fishing spot - The Mussel farms off Matinagarahi Beach. Your boat can be launched from here directly from the beach with a 4 wheel drive or there are two Boat Ramps within 15 kms either direction. Kawakawa Bay Boat ramp is accessible in all tides and Kaiaua Boat ramp You can take leisurely 30 min coastal drive south through Kaiaua to the Miranda Hot Pools which are Natural Mineral pools. A 50 min drive south and you can explore the Thames Market which is held on a Sat morn. Thames township is the beginning of the Coromandal Peninsular which has a rich history of Gold mining and has many attractions that are well worth visiting. Getting AroundThere is no Public transport as we are rural so having a Car is a must. Other wise we do offer an Airport pick-up and drop off service if required. Other Things to NoteWe have two small dogs who do bark at strangers but we will endeavor to keep them confined to our place so they don't cause any issues for you during your stay. We have Kayaks available for your use if you would like to spend some time exploring the hidden little coves that are not accessible by road.

From the Yurt you have direct walking access to Tapapakanga Regional park which has a rich Maori and European history. Tapapkanga is situated on the Firth of Thames and is part of the Seabird coast and Pacific coast Highway. The secluded beach is ideal for swimming and other recreational activities such as BBQ's, fishing , Kayaking, walking and mountain bike tracks Only 30 kms to Miranda Hot mineral pools and the Seabird coast Birdwatching centre. 1 hour to Thames which is the gateway to the beautiful Cormandal peninsular . Thames has a rich History of Goldmining and offers a great selection of Shops, Cafes and a wonderful Market every Sat morning. Special conditions: Smoking in outdoor areas only.           Tui Cottage is a two-bedroom, self-contained unit at Orere Point, a small coastal community located at the top of the Firth of Thames, and opposite the Coromandel Peninsula. It is approximately one hour from Auckland City and the airport. The beach is safe for swimming and popular for fishing and boating. From Tui Cottage, it is just a few minutes walk to the beach and the local store, which sells a range of provisions, newspapers, magazines etc., as well as takeaway food, wine and beer. Home-baked goodies are also available. Note that whilst the store carries a range of supplies, it is not a supermarket, so guests coming for several days should bring food supplies with them. Within 30 minutes drive there are also four regional parks, natural hot pools, horse trekking, hiking and cycling tracks, and a world-renowned shorebird centre. Your accommodation comprises a double bedroom with queen size bed and a second room with two single beds. The lounge also has a fold-out double bed settee. There is a fully equipped kitchen with separate dining area, separate bathroom and toilet, and a laundry. The lounge features a potbelly stove to keep those seeking a snug winter hideaway. In addition, a gas BBQ is provided for guests to use. A variety of DVD movies are available, together with a selection of books, magazines, games and puzzles. Owners live on-site, so any problems or queries can be attended to promptly. During the summer months, it is recommended that guests bring high SPF sunblock and insect repellent. PLEASE NOTE: Any inquiries between 16 April and 6 May 2016 cannot be answered promptly. We will get back to you ASAP.             This 2 bedroom coastal sea cottage on the Firth of Thames with all of the modern amenities looks out to the Thames - Coromandel peninsula from Kaiaua. There are 2 rooms, one with a queen size double bed, the other with 2 bunk beds and a further single bed. In all, the cottage can sleep 6 as there is also a fold down bed in the lounge. There are modern amenities that include dishwasher, washing machine / drier, large fridge / freezer, oven and cook top, rangehood, microwave and Sky TV to enjoy your stay here. ? Beach Front directly over road looking onto reserve and Thames Coromandel hills ? Kaiaua - Miranda sea bird reserve coast (5mins away) ? All day sea views over reserve to sandy river stone tidal beach ? Flat level section for easy walk across the road (50km/h urban speed area) access to safe tidal beach ? Enjoy great sunrises, BBQs and sunsets from the deck ? Great recreational area surrounded by reserves for coastal and many bush reserve walks (Hunuas and Waharau Regional Park), cycling and road drives ? 10 mins drive to Miranda hot pools and 5mins walk to renowned fish and chip shop ? Located approximately 60 minutes drive from downtown Auckland. The Kaiaua area on the Firth of Thames is a great relaxing little sea coast town, that is enjoyable for fishing, kayaking, boating and bush walks. We have 2 kayaks, 2 cycles, and a baby/childs 3 wheel mountain buggy for you to use in the garage out the back. The property also has 2 lockable garages, large flat pet friendly backyard and 4 burner gas BBQ. Please however first check with the owners before bringing your pets. Pets are definitely not allowed on beds or furniture, nor smoking inside. The front is not fenced so young children and pets would need to be supervised from the road. All in all this is an idyllic relaxing spot with coastal sea views that take your breath away, especially the sunrises, sunsets and moon lit nights from the deck or beach. Special conditions: ? Two night minimum stay. ? No parties and no additional guests staying beyond those booked. ? No smoking inside. ? No tents or additional overnight guests without prior permission. ? No open fires.               Perched on a cliff and having an awesome view all the way from Ponui Island to the Coromandel, this cute and newly renovated kiwi bach is only a short walk to the beach and a 10 min drive from Kawakawa Bay and Tapapakanga Regional Park. This gorgeous unspoilt haven is perfect for kayaking ,boating, fishing, swimming or just having a serene walk on the beach . Very safe beach great for swimming. Close to mountain bike tracks, great picnics areas and world famous bird watching foreshore. 3 min walk to the general store that stocks a wide range of goods as well as takeaways. There is a big backyard for parking a boat and 2-3 cars and a big back lawn for running around. There are 2 decks each with twin opening French doors leading from the living area. The one at the front is North facing with expansive sea views and one at the back faces a little courtyard with a BBQ, overhead sail , outdoor gas heater and a chimenea with a ponga log wall backdrop. The main property consists of a main living area that has a 1. separate bathroom with shower, vanity and toilet 2. A modern kitchen with stainless steel dishwasher, microwave , coffee machine and fridge. The dining area and living area flows from the kitchen. There is a flat screen TV, Freeview, stereo, CD player, dining table and chairs 3. Three modest size bedrooms . One bedroom has a Queen bed while the other 2 have single beds. Two of these bedrooms have sea views. 4. Crockery , cutlery, pots ,wine glasses NOTE: A separate self contained sleep out also available for rental ( see below) .
