The quoted price is for 2 guests, we do accommodate up to six guests, each additional guest costing a further $30.
We have two comfortable beds for your enjoyment, a luxurious super King bed and a delightful queen, nestled in the cock pit room, which has 220degree views of the stunning surrounds. Also available are two large sofas which are comfortable to sleep on for extra guests. Your space also has a table and sofa as well as extra heating, and a cot for infants.
We are fortunate in having no close neighbours, an the traffic is virtually zero. We have a nice sea and mountain outlook and enjoy the sounds of nature. The iconic kiwi lives in the brushy undergrowth by our chook house and can easily be heard and sometimes seen if your lucky. There are also two light houses you can see at night. But the most stunning view is of the moon around when it's full, rising over the ocean is just breath taking.
Ocean beach which is a popular surf beach, is a easy and really nice walk from ours. A five minute drive, will get you back into the harbour, offering calm beaches, walks in nature, and hikes to stunning lookouts. There is also a store, boat launching, and tennis courts. Scallop season is between September and March
There is always something nice to eat, weather freshly baked bread, or baking, quit often smoked fish. And browse our vegetable garden for herbs and greens. Your welcome to feed the chooks and collect eggs for your meal. Enjoy..
We are a sociable couple and like to take our guests to some of our favourite places and meet our friends and people in the area. It's also my pleasure to take you fishing of the rocks and help you clean your catch, and cook it in the smoker. Guest AccessOur house is modest but we have a great space exclusively for your use. Our kitchen is yours to use as well as the lounge balcony and grounds. You have your own bathroom of course, and the laundry is yours to use. Interaction with GuestsAmie has a craft business she runs from home and works in a large work shop creating stone kitchen ware, her feature product, mortar and pestles, also pinch bowls, platters and plates.
John has a building business and heads away most days to work on his projects.
We want you to relax, and we will both be around in the evening to share our hospitality. You can do what ever you please weather it's with us, on your own, there is quiet space to work, watch tv, or just see what's happening on the day. The NeighborhoodGreat beaches at our doorstep, a variety of short walks, mostly an hour or two or you can walk all day, on Bream Head, Smugglers Bay, Mount Manaia, Mount Amberley and Kauri Moutain. A great relaxing place to put your feet up during your long walk on the Te Araroa Trail. Snorkel in protected Marine Reserves, fish for snapper or Kingfish in the harbour or out around the Hen and Chicken Islands. A 30 minute drive from Whangarei, a 45-minute drive to Tutukaka, or take a day trip to the Bay of Islands. Getting AroundWe are a 35 minutes from the bus station, if you need a ride let us know when you book and I will pick you up and drop you off. Once your here there is plenty to do. As a result our house is clean but you are likely to find the odd toy around.
