Your Queen Double room is in a brand new one-level home on a superb site overlooking the magnificent Whangaroa Harbour in northern New Zealand. Extinct volcanic dome of St Paul directly behind the house and wrap-around views of the natural harbour.

Your room is in its own wing of the home (home also to the owner) and is very welcoming in its expensive fittings. Privacy is assured.
It is also possible to stay in the King Bedroom Special, which has a shower + bath, bidet; and a private outside shower with huge sea views! & direct deck access; see separate entry.
The house lies 82 metres (300 feet) above sea level yet it is just 1.2 kms to two local haunts: the Pub & the Club, with refreshments & restaurants; also same distance to boat-launching ramp & a small general store. A proper supermarket is in Kaeo, 10kms away, open 7 days. Ample parking at and near the house.
A paradise for nature and birds: the property is 15 hectares in size and is all regenerating native vegetation, sloping down to the harbourside.
All appliances are best quality; library & games provided.

Activities could include: fishing both Big Game & recreational; kayaking or boating on harbour or open ocean; walking DOC tracks to top of St Paul's Rock 213masl, behind house; or to Lane's Cove Hut on West Arm of harbour (2 hours one way); or driving to super beaches like family-friendly Tauranga Bay (15mins) or surfing beach Taupo Bay (40mins). Or: doing as little as possible; you deserve it!
Situated halfway between Paihia & Kaitaia (both 45mins drive) it is the perfect hub for trips in all directions. Just 30mins drive to Kerikeri/airport.
Bird species often seen feeding on lawn: Californian quail, pukeko swamp hen, white-faced herons, ring-necked pheasants, spur-winged plover, NZ pipit, blackbirds; birds often seen feeding in native trees metres from house: fantails, silver eyes, tui, chaffinch, myna, Eastern rosella parrot, NZ kingfisher. Zeiss binoculars and a bird guidebook available for your in-house stay. 2 Bird feeding tables set up, and Bird bath.
Walks starting from Prima a Situ: 20mins to top of St Paul's Rock; 10mins down to harbourside; then 2000 steps =1.4kms from Donkeyman's Nest to Boyd Gallery & General Store (all flat along waterside).
Two really great walks a short way away: the 2 hour Wairakau Walk to Lane Cove; and the 1 hour Mahinepua Peninsula Walk.

Guests have full open access to the wrap-around decks with absolutely fabulous views; also to the kitchen and TV lounge which is shared with me. Very comfy outdoor loungers, tables & chairs; and gas BBQ.
Property has private access to water by footpath to Ota Landing 900metres from Prima a Situ; 2 kayaks at landing; swimming, fishing, picking rock oysters, picnicking. Interaction with GuestsWhile guests are in their own wing (separated from owner's wing by an open-to-the-sky atrium) then I leave them their space; but we may meet on the decks or in the kitchen/lounge. You'll have your privacy in this house, no worries. But also: if you want to know more about the area, things to see or do etc. etc. you are more than welcome to ask me. You will always have my mobile telephone number should a problem arise.

The NeighborhoodThis is the most special place in New Zealand; I have read in a guide book that it is the most beautiful natural harbour in the Southern Hemisphere; it is totally unspoilt and mostly uninhabited, a playground for sailors and fishermen and families.
Meals: either use the in-house Miele kitchen, or: the BBQ outside, or: the cafes in the local Pub or Club, or: drive 10mins to the licensed Indian restnt in Kaeo, or: drive 45mins to the Thai restnt & the famous FishnChips shop in Mangonui. Try the Truckers breakfast in Kaeo! Getting AroundSituated halfway between the touristy Bay of Islands/Paihia and the long, lonely Ninety Mile Beach (both 45mins drive) it is the perfect hub for trips in all directions. Just 30mins drive to Kerikeri, the business/shopping centre of the Bay of Islands.
Weekend Break: Perfect!- fly to Kerikeri/Bay of Islands Airport & there Hire a car, then drive 30mins to Prima a Situ; this means just 1.5hrs Akld to Prima a Situ total travel time!
Only once a day does a public bus connect with Kaeo, 10kms from Whangaroa; your own vehicle is pretty much necessary; plenty of safe private parking space, for cars & boats. Other Things to NoteOne couple at a time in the ensuite Queen bedroom; but if there are 3 or 4 of you (family/friends) and you don't mind sharing the ensuite, then you can also use the second, adjoining Queen bedroom as well; all guest rooms and WC etc lockable and with separate private entries.
