The Space120 year old logs from old tobacco barn were used for the core of the house. Many of the other materials were recovered or are locally sourced -even the kitchen table was made from locally milled chestnut trees. Heated/cooled with geothermal and wood stove. 2 bedrooms with baths and a loft with a queen bed accommodate 6 people. Outdoors is a large lawn area and we have croquet, volleyball and other lawn games. Guest AccessThere is roughly 40 acres surrounding the property including 8 acres of woods. We are surrounded on 3 sides by farms and an animal refuge. Interaction with GuestsThere is a full information sheet we provide after booking that instructs on use of alarm system, AC/heat, wood stove, cooking stove and other mechanisms. 2 nights minimum normally; 3 nights on long holiday weekends.Payment can be by check or paypal. The NeighborhoodBeautiful views down the Shenandoah Valley, very quiet. Great place to just relax, read, cook and reboot, but it also a great area for activities such as hiking and road biking. Nearby is Shenandoah River and its kayak, tubing facilities; the Appalachian Trail and several state parks for hiking and walking. Nearby is the town of Millwood which has an historic mill, antique shops and galleries. For Foodie's and those that love great cuisine, there is the Locke Store in Millwood - a general store with local and prepared foods for takeaway or eat-in. 5 minutes away is L'Auberge Provencale ((URL HIDDEN) with wonderful lunches, brunches and dinners. See their website for holiday specials, such as Mother's Day brunch or Valentines Day. Winchester, with all of the big box stores and other suburban conveniences, is about 20 minutes away. Historic Winchester is a nice destination as is Berryville, about 15 minutes away. If you have kids, Dinosaur Land is about 15 minutes away and it is a real throwback to the '60s-'70's. Getting AroundCar is required as this is located in farm country. Other Things to NotePlease visit our two favorite places: the VA arboretum on the 200+ acres of Blandy farm (about 2 miles away to the back entrance) and the small town of Millwood, across highway 50, where they have the restored historic grain mill, an art gallery, antique store and the centerpiece - the Locke Country Store with its gourmet country food, great wines, cheeses and assorted local and prepared foods. For monthly rentals, we also ask that you cover electricity which typically amount to about $150-200, depending on season.

The SpaceHistoric Fairview House is a restored c. 1770's farmstead property. A three-level house with (3) sleeping rooms on upper-most level, with individual locks: Shenandoah Suite, California King bed (2 guests) with private bathroom/shower; Chesapeake and Fairfax Rooms, 2-Twin beds, sleep total 4 guests; share a Hall bathroom/shower. All sleeping rooms have wall-mounted TV. The street-level entry leads to (3) seating parlors with leather sofa, Club chairs, Loveseat, period chairs , coffee table. There are 2 upper balconies and 2 lower porches with seating to enjoy panoramic views of the Valley and Blue Ridge mountain range. Parking area surrounds the house. Basement Level: Half-bathroom; Publik Room - Wall-mounted 72" LCD television; dining table seats 6; game table-2; leather sofa-6. Kitchenette with stove/oven; Fridge/freezer; microwave; toaster; coffee brewer w/coffee condiments; disposable dining supplies, i.e. paper plates, plastic cutlery, beverage cups. Ice available for purchase from Club27 Grill Room. Two (2) exterior doors lead to outside stairwell, House grounds. Guest AccessMobile/wireless access throughout the property; no password required.
