The SpaceStep back in time and enter the historic Native American Cahuilla Indian village formerly named Wanapiapa (Place of Water) within the Whitewater Canyon Preserve - where also Early Man has lived here since the last ice age, more than 11,000 years ago. The Whitewater River has traveled 70 miles from the 11,503' ft peak of Mount San Gorgonio - creating this natural wild life sanctuary & oasis by the underground damming effect of the San Andreas Fault. An Oasis of peace in a harsh land - located just 10 miles northwest of Palm Springs and two hours east of Los Angeles. WHAT TO EXPECT? Guests should expect privacy in a quiet and peaceful environment in nature with a river running through it! Cooler evenings, darker nights, with the massive hand carved logs providing insulation during the heat of the day (also has AC) all compliment this natural paradise in the Desert. A short walk to a flowing river through the trees makes for a reflective journey into early California. One of the best parts of staying here is having unparalleled access to the oasis & river. Wildlife includes many species of birds, the occasional mountain lion & bear passing through, bobcats, bighorn sheep, coyotes, rabbits, lizards, and more. This is a great place to paint or write, or work on your photography skills too! Guest AccessENTIRE CABIN; This handcrafted log cabin of massive western red cedar logs sustainably felled from British Columbia, Canada, is perched above the natural oasis made up of mature Cottonwood trees, palms, grapevines, and many other native botanical plants. This is the only river in the desert and is surrounded by rugged hillsides and meandering hiking trails where you can escape the bustle of city life while still being close enough to dine out in Palm Springs. The Bonnie Bell Oasis (just outside) was once home to the Wanakik Band of Cahuilla Indians. The Pioneer Log Cabin is beautifully rustic, however it has all the comforts you need, including a full kitchen, a bathroom with clawfoot tub, comfortable living area and amazing views of Mt. San Jacinto (10,834'). Interaction with GuestsCo-host Matt is available for custom tours to Joshua Tree, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, Whitewater Preserve and more. The NeighborhoodA very small area known as Bonnie Bell. There are only a few full time residents here and they mostly enjoy their solitude so please mind yourself and don't trespass on private land directly surrounding other homes in the oasis. Remember to check out Whitewater Preserve at the end of Whitewater Canyon Road (8am-5pm, M-F). Getting AroundThe best way is to have your own car, but you can get to and from here via UBER, LYFT, or taxi cab. There is no public transportation. Fine dining restaurants are to be found in neighboring Palm Springs and the surrounding desert region, but you will need to drive 10 miles to the nearest food and shopping - although several fast food facilities & gas stations are only 10 minutes away. Other Things to NoteIt is dark here (no streetlights) so please bring a flashlight and watch your step in the dark. We recommend not hiking alone or after dark in this natural habitat located in Whitewater Canyon. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: •Palm Springs (Golf Capital of the world) •Bonnie Bell Oasis / Cahuilla Indian Village •San Andreas Fault •Pacific Crest Trail •Wildlands Conservancy / Whitewater Preserve is at the end of the canyon road, 3 miles up - once there you'll have access to thousands of acres of backcountry hiking and camping - all the way to Big Bear and beyond. Yes! the Pacific Crest Trail will take you all the way to Canada or Mexico! •The Palm Springs Ariel Tramway: Access to 8,516' elevation. •Joshua Tree National Park: 45 minutes drive •Indian Canyons: A desert oasis located in Palm Springs •Desert Hot Springs: Dozens of developed hot springs.

The SpacePLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A WHOLE HOUSE RENTAL. No pets allowed. Our Boxer loves people but is not pet friendly. Do not rely upon the calendar. With multiple rooms vacancies may still exist. There are three ensuite bedrooms in the lodge that are rented on an individual basis like a small country inn. Gourmet breakfast is included each morning. NO GUEST COOKING FACILITIES PROVIDED. The king room is 220. per night, winter rate and 160 per night summer rate. The queen rooms and Airstream ( please look for its separate airbnb listing /(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) Airstream! ) are 180. per night each in the winter and 120 per night each in the summer. Less than a two hour drive from Los Angeles, the lodge combines the magic of a serene getaway with the comforts of home. Come stay with us and you will understand why it is considered Palm Spring's best kept secret! Our reviews speak for themselves! Guest AccessHot Tubs, hiking on our own grounds, indoor and outdoor guest sitting/reading areas, a real Star Bed for gazing at the amazing night (or day) sky!! The first known inhabitants of "Teshana" were the Waknikik clan of the Cahuilla Indians who gathered from the natural landscape and hunted small game. Some of the first non-native settlers to the area came in 1810 - they were employees of the Wells Fargo Pony Express and stopped here to feed and exchange their horses and to maintain their carriages. In 1910 the artist, Steven Willard became a resident and in the 1920's, a small group of Sicilian olive farmers called this area home while herding sheep and tending to their olive trees - many of which still exist today. Wanderers, trappers, and outdoors-men of all types have visited this area because of the reliable water source in this canyon. Trout can still be found high up the west fork past the alluvial fan scattered with granite boulders and dotted with jojoba and brittle-bush. Up until the 60's, the public had full access to massive pools for fishing and recreation - now it's more challenging to get there, but still possible. In rainy years, a beautiful annual stream can be visited on the east side of the canyon - a picture of which can be found in my photographs. Within our village resides a variety of craftsmen, professionals, retiree's, and artists from all backgrounds who also enjoy the special nature and solitude that can only be found here. Local legend has it that psychologist Timothy Leary and his good friend John Drew Barrymore were both occupants here at one time. The Beatles stopped at a house up the road between gigs and the Rat Pack even had a hideaway in this small community. Public television icon Huell Howser of “California's Gold" even visited this little cabin at one point for a special on the area. Additionally, this cabin was recently featured in the December 2013 issue of Palm Springs Life magazine. The SpaceWelcome to an incredibly tranquil ranch oasis with a heated pool, horses, goats, and the friendliest onsite staff! This Dude Ranch is a private oasis made of 5 beautiful houses with fully stocked kitchens in a majestic location. A perfect retreat for everyone. Delve into the historic Old West at Lazy C Ranch. Our property is proud to be one of the oldest authentic ranches in Palm Springs, with history dating back to the 1860s as an operational Stagecoach line for travelers during California's Gold Rush. When you stay in one of our intimate cottages, you will be treated to cozy, fully furnished accommodations amidst the quiet majesty of the San Jacinto mountains. Choose from The Ranch House (3 bed/1 bath), The Mountain House (2 bed/1 bath), The Cottage (2 bed/1 bath), The Uno, (2 bed/2 bath), or The Dos (2 bed/2bath). We are also proud to offer our premises for elopement, wedding, and event rentals! For our adventurous guests, just a short drive takes you to the hiking trails of Mt. San Jacinto State Park where you can hike and bike some of the most beautiful mountains in California. All guests are welcome to unwind in our heated outdoor pool, which is built on what is rumored to have been an old watering hole for horses. Cowboys and Cowgirls of all ages will love feeding and petting our ranch animals. The dove coop can be enjoyed from a distance, while our beautiful horses are always eager for carrots and apples. And don't forget to join us for daily goat feedings and playtime! Times may vary, but our friendly on-site ranch hand loves to show off these playful animals. *As with any ranch, you should always use caution when approaching animals. They will treat you with the same respect you that you treat them. Enrique is the friendliest "man on land" who has built the ranch mostly by hand and will make sure your stay is magical. The Main House is the largest house on our ranch. This three bedroom beauty has a huge kitchen, western comfort style, and lots of amenities. Each bedroom has a queen sized bed. The master bedroom walks into the sunken shower room, which then connects to the bathroom,. Walk further and you will enter the second living room where the love nest is located. Then there is the pool view bedroom that also opens to the side patio. Rent the largest house on our historic ranch property. This house offers convenient amenities that define modern ranch living—a striking contrast to the rustic grounds of our working ranch. Enjoy a comfortable stay in a roomy home that accommodates up to six guests. This house is for everyone—children and pets are warmly welcomed! Guests of all ages will delight in feeding and petting our resident animals. Our horses can be found munching carrots in their stables or roaming around their expansive rings. The SpaceHello friends! Just want to add that this home is brand new and no one has even lived in it yet, except for the Airbnb guests I've had in the last month since I started doing this for first time in my life LOL! House is a work in progress. I wanted to have it ready to go by the Desert Trip music festival but never got a chance to. As soon as I listed it, I was inundated with guest requests! Everyone seems to love it anyway as it is so beautiful with the mountains all around you here. The house is now fully and beautifully furnished with 2 brand new comfy queen beds, 1 in each room. There is everything you need for wonderful stay, wifi and internet now installed, and cable soon to come! Guest AccessBasically, the whole house is yours to enjoy! You are 5 minutes away if you want to drive to downtown Palm Springs or to the world famous Tram. Joshua Tree National Park is a very small drive away as well. Interaction with GuestsI live and work in Santa Monica California, so kind of hard to get away from work and come down too often, but I do every chance I get! I am just a phone call or text away however, and often stay at my friends beautiful house there too. The NeighborhoodWhat makes my home so totally unique is its gorgeous surroundings. As soon as I looked at the house, I knew I wanted to be here. I really don't think there are a lot of other homes in a location such as this, unless you are actually in the mountainous areas themselves surrounding the downtown area. What is special is you are not in a suburb, or actually even in town, yet town is so close. It is as close to nature as you can get in a house out here, especially without paying a lot. It is so serene and meditative. Getting AroundPublic transportation does not come out to where we are located, but the public transportation buses are only about 2 miles from here where the road goes up to the tram. Rent a car, Uber, and Lyft, are the most useful ways to get around. Also great hiking area and bike riding area. Other Things to NoteThere is a long covered driveway that can easily accommodate 2 cars.
