The bathroom is on the lower level and equipped with solid stone shower and all amenities. Radiant floor heating throughout keeps things warm and cozy. Stairs to the upper level transport you to the spacious romantic queen bedroom loft suite featuring a brand new queen bed with pillow top mattress and luxury bedding as well as a comfortable fold down sofa. The private balcony and majestic window views look out onto the surrounding mountain, forest and meadow views. This unit is part of a larger property but has its own separate entrance. A stay in the beautiful, spacious, and cozy loft retreat makes for a delightful and unforgettable experience. We welcome you to your own Montana wooded wonderland! Guest AccessIn addition to the loft space with it's own separate entrance, guests will also have access to a shared laundry room equipped with brand new washer and dryer. Interaction with GuestsMy husband, Steve and I are a cool, professional couple who live in the other part of the house periodically during the year as our second home. We also share that space with other vacationing guests when we travel (which is frequently). Steve is from Scotland and Jen is a Montana native. We also live in Los Angeles part of the year for work but we like to get away to Scouts Forest as our retreat, too! We are seasoned world travelers who know what it means to stay in a new place, so we do our best to make our guests feel at home. The NeighborhoodAn ideal private, nature retreat for those wanting to experience the beauty of Montana. Any season is extraordinary to visit! From cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing trails nearby (or Glacier National Park), to some of the best downhill skiing just a short drive away at Whitefish Mountain Resort, winter fun awaits. For any season, if nature is your thing, the retreat's secluded alpine wilderness location provides plenty of opportunities to see winter wildlife like deer, elk, and birds right outside your door. If you want to be away from the crowds in town and on 'the mountain', yet you don't want to be too far out to enjoy the hustle and bustle when you want to, then this is the place for you. It truly is the best of both worlds - peaceful and serene when you want to take time out and curl up with good book and hot drink (or create your own novel!), or fun and lively when you want to take a jaunt into town. Nearby attractions: Skiing or snowboarding at big mountain is a short hour drive away. With an average snowfall of 300 inches, vertical drop of 2350 ft, and 3 high-speed quads, this great American ski town makes for an amazing Montana destination. Glacier National Park is considered the “Crown of the Continent Ecosystem,” with hundreds of species of animals and from glacier fields to prairie and tundra, Glacier National Park is the center of one of the largest and most intact ecosystems in North America. There are over 130 turquoise alpine lakes, mountain goats, moose, grizzly bears, and glacier cut mountains that are sure to leave you speechless. With over 700 miles of hiking trails, Glacier National Park is truly a scenic treasure. Getting AroundTo get around the mountain terrain and vast highways in 'Big Sky Country', it's really best to have a car (preferably 4 wheel or front-wheel drive in winter). Good for those back road explorations! Other Things to NoteNearby attractions: Skiing or snowboarding at big mountain is a short hour drive away. The SpaceI am sure you know the importance of a good location. This house is located in Kalifish Falls :-)) With that I mean that is strategically located between Whitefish, Kalispell and Columbia Falls. Everything is located just a few minutes drive giving you convenient access to all the services and attractions in the area. Glacier Park is only 30 minutes away to the East.(20 Miles) Ten minutes North to Whitefish downtown restaurants and supermarkets (5 Miles) and 20 minutes to Whitefish Mountain Resort (15 Miles). The largest shopping area in Kalispell is also 10 minutes away going South (8 Miles). The neighborhood is designed in a way that you are surrounded by trees and have unobstructed views to the nearby mountains. My home looks like a bungalow from the access driveway. However, when you stand at the huge deck running all the way in the back of the house, you will realize that there is another floor. That lower floor I keep for myself for those rare days when I decide to be around. The house that you will get has an open concept design. A big space enclosing the living room, dining area , kitchen and breakfast area, all furnished in the attractive NW style and dominated by a large stones fireplace. Windows everywhere to bring inside the beauty of the outdoors. There is a mud room with access to the laundry and the two cars garage. The laundry area is equipped with washer, dryer, ironing table, a counter and cabinets. The kitchen has everything you may have at home: Gas stove with oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker, tea kettle, toaster and china for four people. Also all the cooking utensils you may need. The sleeping area is located to the left of the entrance. A large master bedroom facing the view of the mountains. There is a queen size bed and an entertainment unit enclosing the TV and DVD player. A big bathroom with shower and a tub, separated toilet area and a huge walking closet. Large counter with two sinks and mirror wall to wall. The other room is facing the front of the house.Has a regular closet and also another queen bed. The bathroom with shower, sink and toilet is located between the room and the master (URL HIDDEN) house is so well ventilated and insulated that no air conditioned is required. But just in case, for some few hot Summer's days, there are ceiling fans in all rooms. It is specially important that on those days you follow our instructions about what to do. In a few words: Open the windows during the night and CLOSE all of them during the day. For most of our guests this is easy to do since they spend everyday exploring our beautiful outdoors. We had a couple of situations where our guests stayed with us for a week and going nowhere, just enjoying the house. The first impulse is to open all the windows during the day (URL HIDDEN) is the wrong thing to do!! Our neighborhood has two tennis courts that our guests can use at any time since there are not many people using it. We have close to 80 acres of common area that can be used for walks/jogging in the Summer or for X-country skiing in the Winter. Guest AccessOur community do not have fences between properties, therefore, it is not easy to see the property lines when you walk around. Using common sense, just keep some distance from the other homes if you decide to use the common area. As mentioned before, we keep the lower floor for our own use. You are welcome to walk all around the property and our backyard but keep in mind that there is a minimum of privacy to respect. The tennis courts don't need reservation and normally, only a few people use them once in a while. There are two and I don't think you have to do too much planning if you wish to play. Interaction with GuestsWe are very sociable, friendly and enjoy meeting our guests. At the same time, we respect their right to privacy and it is for them to decide the degree of interaction they wish during their stay in our place. The NeighborhoodOur home is located in a gated community with only 17 homes. This used to be the location of a Christmas tree farm and that is one of the reasons for the abundance of evergreens in this community. Lots of privacy and at the same time, strategically located near everything and all the services you may need. All the houses in the neighborhood are nice looking homes. You rarely will see any neighbor during your stay. Getting AroundOur area/region do not have a convenient public transportation system. However, most of the major car rentals have a presence at the airport or in any of the towns surrounding us. Rental fares are convenient but we suggest to do your reservations in advance to avoid disappointment. Keep in mind that most of the visitors to the area come from the beginning of June until the end of September. Other Things to NoteBased in past experiences, we realized that some people would like to use our home to host a party with their local friends and family. Is not our intention to rent our house for such events. If you are planning any type of gathering, make sure you explain your intentions clearly and obtain our authorization. A larger guarantee deposit may be required in case the permit is granted. Make sure that you explain to us clearly if other friends or family will be the main guests using the home. Even if you will be at the house part of the time. You are the person responsible for the reservation and our home. You could be in a difficult position accepting responsibilities for other people if any problem arises.

The SpaceModern garage studio apartment built in 2002. There is radiant floor heating through out which keeps the place nice and cozy even on the coldest day. There is full queen bed and an IKEA sofa bed that converts to a queen size bed. There is a modest kitchen area with a microwave, gas stove/oven, full size refrigerator and stainless steel sink. However, there is not a lot of food preparation space available and limited selection of cooking utensils provided; so if you are looking to do any serious cooking, this listing is not for you. The apartment is in the same building as my other AirBnB listing; so there may be other guests on the premises during your stay. Summer Guests Please Read This Before Booking: My place does not have air conditioning. In the summer it can get quite hot during the daytime. So if you plan to spend a lot of time in apartment in the afternoon then this may be an issue for you. I do have several fans available in the apartment, but please check out the typical daytime temperatures for Whitefish when deciding if you want to book my place. Also when you send your request please indicate in your request that you are OK with out air conditioning; so that I know that you have read this. Thanks Canadian Guests. The apartment has a land line phone that you can use to make calls back to Canada at no cost to you. FINALLY. Please Read the Reviews. Many of the former guests mention things that might be important to you. Guest AccessGuests will have the second floor studio apartment all to themselves. The garage is completely detached from the main house providing a great deal of privacy. Access to the apartment is via an electronic lock whose access code is changed after every guest for security. Since there is no key, members of your party can come and leave they please with out worrying about tying up the group. The first floor is a working garage where I have a lot of my gear stored. Guests are welcome to store their gear on the first floor garage area. I have a large paved outdoor patio in the backyard that guests are welcome to use any time they wish. I just ask that you to be respectful of the elderly neighbor and keep the noise level down. Interaction with GuestsI travel quite a bit for work; so I may not be present on the premises during your stay. If I am around, I will be in the main house which is completely detached from the garage studio; so you will have a lot of privacy if you want it. However, should I be in town when you visit, I would love to do stuff with you if you want someone to show you around the valley. If I am not at home during your stay, I will have a friend look after you should you need anything, or to answer your questions if something comes up. The NeighborhoodThe house is nestled in a quiet picturesque residential neighborhood reminiscent of a Norman Rockwell painting. But just a few minutes walk away is downtown Whitefish which offers the best restaurants, gift-shops, galleries, bars, and nightlife in the entire Flathead Valley Getting AroundPARKING: You will have parking access on the garage driveway. In addition there is plenty of street parking next to the house. Most parking around Whitefish is free. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: Getting to the ski hill. During the ski season, the Snow bus provides FREE shuttles between various Whitefish locations and the ski lodge. The nearest stop for the free Snow bus shuttle is 7 minutes walk from the house. The snow bus runs from 7am to 10 pm everyday during ski season. Getting around the Valley. There is a public bus service that runs between Whitefish, Kalispell, and Columbia Falls. One way ticket costs around $1.00. More information and schedules on their website at Flathead County Eagle Transit. CAR RENTAL There is a small car rental office at the Whitefish train station seven minutes walk from the house. More car rental selection is available at Glacier International Airport. Other Things to NoteI am pretty flexible with check in and check out if the scheduling other guests and the cleaning lady will allow it. Just ask.

The SpacePrivate* 1-bedroom, 1-bath apartment within my home. Wood stove, Q bed, well-supplied kitchenette, open living/dining/kitchen area + covered patio/outdoor space to enjoy. Off-street parking. Ideally suited for 1-2 people. *See interaction w/ guests WINTER notes below Guest AccessGuests have access to entire lower level, patio, yard + laundry room. Guests are free to roam the grounds. Upper two levels of the house & deck are my private space, by invitation only, please. Interaction with GuestsYour host Cyndy lives full-time in the upper levels of the house so you will likely see me tending to the grounds, along with your needs. With schedule permitting, & by your invitation, I will gladly guide you with (or on) outdoor pursuits & dining recommendations. Privacy, if you wish or potential for... fireside chats, cocktails on the deck, yoga on the lawn... ***Special considerations in WINTER MONTHS*** Please note that in WINTER MONTHS, staying at Loons Nest is a more shared living experience...WE all share the lower level entrance as it serves as the mud room for the entire house. Know I will respectfully announce my arrival coming & going through your space when you, the guest, are in residence. As well, given the finicky nature of the wood stove, I prefer to tend to it if you are not well experienced in doing so; be aware the wood stove is your living space. ***Special considerations for LONGER TERM STAYS (greater than 7 days)*** Host will provide weekly linen changes. As the laundry room is a shared space, usage of laundry facilities for personal use will need to be coordinated between host & guest. The NeighborhoodVery quiet & no traffic. A lovely neighborhood small community. The neighborhood dogs visit on occasion; they are friendly & welcome. Getting AroundGuests will need own car; off-street parking. Loons Nest is approximately 12 miles from Glacier Park International Airport. Other Things to NoteThe space stays delightful cool in Summer months, even when hot outside, even with no air conditioning ~ simply open windows at night & close during the day to keep a moderate cool temperature inside. Given the open/airy design of the house, sound does travel, you will hear me when I am home (& vice versa). That being said, I have a relatively calm, quiet demeanor. Yes, there is a TV & DVD player, yet NO cable or satellite is offered. Feel free to connect your laptop/tablet/device to stream your favorite shows/movies/music. Verizon is the dominant cell phone provider here, with AT&T offering some coverage to the area as well. Know that other providers may offer spotty, if any coverage.

The SpaceThis is a small space (less than 200 sq ft.) and is best suited for single travelers who simply need a place to sleep and shower overnight. Newly renovated in the August of 2014, this private room has its own bathroom attached and a separate secured entry. The bed is twin size IKEA daybed that can covert to a queen size bed to accommodate couples. There is a small fold-out desk and a chair. Otherwise the furnishing is very minimal. The room has a small refrigerator and a coffee maker, but there are no facilities to cook. This room is in the same building as my other listing; so there may be other guests on the premises during your stay. The room is located below main apartment and there will be some low level noise if people are walking about in the kitchen upstairs. So if you require complete quiet, then this listing is probably not well suited for you. Summer Guests Please Read This Before Booking: My place does not have air conditioning. In the summer it can get quite hot during the daytime. I do have several fans available for your use, but please check out the typical daytime temperatures for Whitefish when deciding if you want to book my place. Also when you send your request please indicate in your request that you are OK with out air conditioning; so that I know that you have read this. Thanks Guest AccessGuests have exclusive access to a private room an its attached bathroom. For your privacy and safety the room has its own electronic lock. If you are bringing a lot of gear, you can store your stuff in the garage. Interaction with GuestsI may be present at the listing during your stay. I am seldom home as I travel quite a bit for work. If I am around, I will stay in the main house which is completely separate from the garage apartment. Should I be in town when you visit, I would love to do stuff with you if you need someone to show you around the valley. The NeighborhoodThe house is nestled in a quiet picturesque residential neighborhood reminiscent of a Norman Rockwell painting. But just a few minutes walk away is downtown Whitefish which offers the best restaurants, gift-shops, galleries, bars, and nightlife in the entire Flathead Valley. Getting AroundPARKING: You will have parking access on the garage driveway. In addition there is plenty of street parking next to the house. Most parking around Whitefish is free. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: Getting to the ski hill. During the ski season, the Snow bus provides FREE shuttles between various Whitefish locations and the ski lodge. The nearest stop for the free Snow bus shuttle is 5 minutes walk from the house. The snow bus runs from 7am to 10 pm everyday during ski season. Getting around the valley. There is a public bus service that runs between Whitefish, Kalispell, and Columbia Falls. One way ticket costs around $1.00. More information and schedules on the Eagle Transit website. CAR RENTAL There is a small car rental office at the Whitefish train station five minutes walk from the house. More car rental selection is available at Glacier International Airport. Other Things to NoteI am pretty flexible with check in and check out if scheduling other guest and the cleaning lady will allow it. Just ask.
