The SpaceLast year my husband and I decided to travel the country with our 3 small children, shortly before we retired from the US Navy. Because we couldn't find a good balance of an RV that was ascetically pleasing, as well as functional for our family, we decided to take on a project ourselves. We purchased this 1997 Fleetwood Bounder and got to work. Although the outside is a very WELL LOVED motorhome, the interior is fresh and clean. We completely gutted 90 percent of the motorhome, and revamped it to suit our family's needs. What was once the master bedroom, is now an airy and comfortable "kids" room. We custom built bunk beds so that our children would have more floor space. By designing the bottom bunk to transform from a sleeping space, to a table and benches, the room can be utilized to maximum efficiency. The bedroom also includes 3 spacious wardrobes, drawers, and underbed storage. The top bunk is a tight space perfect for kids or a small adult.
The bathroom, while compact, suits our everyday needs. Because we needed the "main" living area to serve as a gathering place AND mine and my husband's sleeping area, we re-designed and purchased furniture that would utilize this space the best. The comfortable and clean "couch-by-day" pulls out into a large, king sized bed for a restful night. The kitchen, while small, is stocked with essentials for a pleasant dining experience. The kitchen table and chairs can easily be moved outside, for al fresco dining in the beautiful, scenic park. Expect a clean, comfortable, airy space; but recognize that the motorhome is nearly 20 years old, so she does show signs of wear and tear. Guest AccessYou will have access to the entire motorhome, and the outdoor area that accomponies the rv rental site. You must choose the campground that you would like the RV parked at. You can choose from Harrison Bay State Park or Holiday Travel. You can book either one online but please contact me first about spaces that will be big enough for the RV. Interaction with GuestsI am not on site, but do live nearby. Because of this I am more than pleased to help you with whatever you may need.
I can accommodate ANY request. Need milk, eggs, and bread ready for your arrival? No problem. Fragrance free shampoo and conditioner? Done. The NeighborhoodThere is quite a bit to do and see in the Chattanooga area. The aquarium, creative discovery museum, Rock City, Ruby Falls, and the riverfront are all popular locations to visit. We also have lots of local restaurants that are wonderful. I would be happy to recommend things to do around town. Getting AroundThe city of Chattanooga has created an amazing bike rental program, in which you may rent bikes for a small fee, each day, simply by inserting money at a bike terminal.
Uber is a popular method of transportation downtown, although this area is easily walkable. Other Things to NoteAs a parent I know ALL TOO WELL the stresses of traveling with children. Because of this, I want to extend you the offer of being the premier location for traveling with children. I can provide a pack and play, high chair, blankets, swaddles, etc. Just let me know what you will need ahead of time and I can accomodate you. If you let me know your children ages/gender, I can even make sure there are toys on site!
Although "RV life" is different than staying in a hotel and can certainly seem overwhelming, I can assure that this home away from home will ensure you a vacation to remember. Because the space absolutely must serve multiple purposes, please recognize that there will be some modifying the space from day to night. For example, the bed will need to be pulled out (etc.)
Because we have intentionally left this space "minimal" there will be only what is needed for day to day living. Pots and pans, as well as cooking supplies are on site.
There is one bunk bed, but because the bed was custom built, the top but is a bit of a tight squeeze. Its perfect for kids, or a slim older child or adult, but a larger individual will not be comfortable on the top bunk.
In addition to the "actual beds" we have, we also do have 2 twin air mattresses and a queen mattress.. We have the ability to put all of these in the motorhome at one time, in some capacity.
FINALLY- I have NO CONTROL over the weather, bugs, or any issues which may effect the campground (I.e. cable not working, weak wi-fi etc.) Please recognize that while I do my absolute best to make this as clean, comfortable, and fun as I possibly can, this is still considered "glamping". For this reason, be advised, that there is a chance you will encounter a rouge bug which has made its way inside, rain which dampens your outdoor adventures, or noise from other campers which I cannot control.
