Upon entering my home, you will be walking into a super sized family room - one that always makes a great first impression! This is an older home, however, and as you continue with your stay you will notice signs of this -- previous updates were not completed to the same standards as a new home might have. This lake house definitely has a few quirks; however, it's charm and cabin-like feel along with the beauty of the sun coming up over the water in the early mornings add up to some awesome family memories. Guests will not be sorry they came to East Tawakoni to experience a slower pace of life and a magical encounter with nature. Guest AccessGuests can enjoy the entire downstairs of the home including a large kitchen and dining room, cable TV, hundreds of movies, books, and games. Guests also have access to an outdoor play area, seating areas, and games. Open the back gate and enjoy all that Lake Tawakoni has to offer right from your back yard. In addition to the fishing pier complete with seating, fishing pole holders, and an umbrella, there is also a 2 person blowup kayak and a blow up boat available for use. Feel free to launch your boat or jet ski at the city park a few blocks away and tie up right at the fishing pier. (Please check lake levels as sometimes it is too shallow for larger boats. ) The dock and pier are situated in a quiet private cove that you will probably get to enjoy completely alone. Paradise! Interaction with GuestsIf I am in town, I will spend most of my time outside at the pier or upstairs. I can be as interactive with you as you prefer. If you do not have the extra guests and , therefore, are not using the kids bedroom, I might have my granddaughter with me. If I am in town, I will also have Winston, a kid friendly and animal friendly 50 pound Poodle and Schnauzer mix. He is older, very quiet, and very little shedding so most of the time, you won't even know he's around. If I am not in town, Winston will be with me and you will be provided a way to pick up keys and any other items pertinent to your stay. The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is a quiet, semi-retired, golf cart, lakefront neighborhood with friendly people and a country atmosphere. Feel free to take a walk to the city park, the East Tawakoni grocery store, the Family Dollar , the gas station, the bait store, the liquor store, or a couple of burger and pizza grills. The locals will be happy to answer any questions about the best fishin' spots or the nearest watering hole. Getting AroundAll your basic needs are within walking distance in our little town, but on a broader scale, if you head west over the 2 mile bridge, into West Tawakoni, you will find Monroys Mexican Restaurant and a handful of other stores including the local hardware store. Just a few miles further west is the town of Quinlan which boasts a Super Walmart, Brookshires, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Luigis Italian Restaurant, Sonic, Domino's, Popeyes, two auto parts stores, and a handful of other businesses, including oil change and auto repair, salons, a pawn shop, and a hospital. Additionally there is a sand volleyball court, basketball court, playgrounds and a new splash park.
Head east from my house instead, and you are only 45 minutes away from Tyler and it's beautiful rose gardens or First Monday in Canton. Greenville is the Hunt county seat and is a short drive north where you will find plenty of restaurants, shopping, a movie theater, bowling alley, and a new full scale waterslide park.
And of course Dallas is only an hour drive west of my house either on I-30 through Rockwall or on I-20 through Terrell. Other Things to NotePlease be aware - this IS a lake house and it is also in a very rural and undeveloped area. This means there can be humidity issues; there can be some odors from dampness; there will be lots of flying bugs at night. We exterminate often, but there is only so much that can be done in this environment.
Please note that for 2 people, the guest bedroom is perfect. For four people, feel free to use the additional kid's bedroom with trundle beds. Two additional people can sleep comfortably on the large sectional in the family room. There is a $13 per night charge for each additional person (up to 6 can stay comfortably. )
